Max Level Return—I'll Protect That Fragile One
Chapter 708 - 267: Another Hacker Emerges in the Divine Martial Realm
Over at the tavern.
After Ming Lan hung up the phone, the bartender went into the warehouse and took out the only palm-sized computer in stock.
He invited Xu Xingguang to the back studio and, in her presence, opened the original packaging of the notebook, removing layer after layer, all tightly wrapped.
"Miss." After opening the packaging, the bartender handed the palm-sized computer to Xu Xingguang, "Please check the device. According to the rules, if you confirm there’s no issue with the product, the transaction is finalized once you sign the purchase contract."
"Our shop conducts business with integrity. All sold products are qualified items, and once they leave the shop, they cannot be returned or exchanged."
"Alright." Xu Xingguang was well-versed in the rules of the trade.
This palm-sized notebook has an independent operating system, not compatible with the Intelligent Brain Terminal.
There’s no upper limit to smart technology, and the Divine Martial Realm is still at the introductory, ascending stage in the field of Intelligent Brain Terminals.
At present, each time you replace an Intelligent Brain Terminal, you need to replace the Pupil Film as well.
Whereas in the interstellar age that Xu Xingguang once lived in, everyone would possess a pair of professional Smart Pupil Films from the day their identity document was issued, and these would operate all intelligent products.
For instance, now, to control the palm-sized computer, Xu Xingguang must wear the smart glasses that come with it.
Under the bartender’s watchful eyes, Xu Xingguang, not very familiar with Divine Martial Realm’s tech products, took some time to successfully activate the smart glasses.
Seeing that she took three minutes just to activate the glasses, the bartender assumed Xu Xingguang was a layman in network technology.
He lost curiosity in Xu Xingguang’s hacker skills but was still intrigued by her background.
Ten minutes later, Xu Xingguang finally removed the glasses and gave the computer a fairly satisfied smile.
"No issues." She took out the Emperor’s Sub-card again, "Swipe it, please."
"Alright."
The bartender received the Emperor’s Sub-card with both hands, couldn’t resist touching it a few more times. Just as he was about to swipe it, he noticed his wrist’s smart terminal flashing.
It was a call from his boss.
"Sorry, I need to take this call first." The bartender apologized, stood up, and walked toward an inner compartment while answering the call, "Boss."
Before he could close the partition behind him, he heard the boss ask, "Has the transaction been completed?"
The bartender quickly responded, "About to process the payment."
"Stop the payment." His boss’s tone was light and casual, "Just give it to her."
"Huh?" The bartender was utterly confused, "Just give it? Not a single cent?" The boss was a businessman who would charge a hundred bucks without a second thought.
Since when did he start doing charity?
Ming Lan didn’t explain the specific reason, only said, "From now on, whenever she visits the tavern, everything is free. Don’t ask why..."
If asked, it’s because she’s my ancestor.
Ming Lan coldly hung up the phone.
The bartender stared blankly at the terminal for a moment, then turned around, giving Xu Xingguang a look with an expression hard to decipher.
Could it be that her identity and background are so formidable that even the boss wants to connect with her and be friends?
Not daring to ask her relationship with the boss, the bartender quickly returned the Emperor’s Sub-card to Xu Xingguang with both hands, respectfully explaining, "Miss, our boss said, you don’t need to pay for this computer. Whenever you shop here in the future, it’ll all be on the house."
Xu Xingguang raised an eyebrow; she knew this tavern belonged to Ming Lan. Trusting Ming Lan’s business reputation, she chose to buy the computer here.
Judging by Ming Lan’s actions, he must have surely learned about her and Ming Feng’s true identities.
The little chick is quite sensible.
A moment later, she took back the card, and as she stood up with the product, she left a comment, "Your boss may have unique taste, but he does handle things quite tactfully."
With that said, she smoothly stuffed the computer into a canvas bag that seemed to appear out of nowhere and left.
The bartender stared at Xu Xingguang’s departing figure, recalling his boss’ hair color that changed every time he appeared, and sighed deeply, "A kindred spirit!"
Finally, someone else who couldn’t appreciate the boss’s rainbow hair.
As soon as Xu Xingguang left, Ming Lan’s call came through.
"Did she leave?" Ming Lan could view the tavern’s surveillance, so it wasn’t surprising he knew Xu Xingguang had left.
Hearing his boss’s voice for the third time that morning, the bartender gazed speechlessly upwards, almost suspecting the lady who had just come in was their boss’s girlfriend.
"The lady has already left." The bartender replied honestly.
Ming Lan asked again, "When you said you’d give her the computer for free, did she really accept it?"
After a pause, the bartender, a little at a loss for words, pointed out, "I thought you were genuinely sincere about giving it to her."
