Master Says the Drawn Traits Must Not Be Wasted
Chapter 47: Mission Sharing
Chapter 47: Chapter 47: Mission Sharing
He paused, then added, "Of course, some wealthy or well-informed clients will directly request renowned squads they trust or whose accomplishments they’ve heard of."
"Our Dragon Fang Squad was just established, so we’re in a hurry to complete some challenging extermination quests and quickly build our reputation and credibility.
That’s how we’ll get access to better mission sources."
Hesia understood what Hulk meant.
’It made perfect sense. The Guild likely set up this threshold to prevent reckless rookies who overestimate themselves from blindly taking on difficult missions and getting themselves killed for nothing. It was also a way to ensure a high completion rate for important quests.’
’As for those high-level extermination quests that have been posted on the board for ages without anyone taking them, the targets were probably entrenched deep within the Gray Mist Forest. They were powerful and cunning, far beyond what an ordinary Adventurer could handle easily.’
Just then, Hesia suddenly remembered an important question he had forgotten to ask the short-haired receptionist, Clara, at the front desk.
"Captain Hulk, I’d like to ask—if we complete a quest as a team, how are individual contributions and level progression calculated?"
Hulk explained, "The captain handles the distribution. For an Adventurer’s rank progression, the Guild mainly looks at the total value of the rewards you’ve accumulated.
You’re currently Black Iron Tier Five. Once you’ve accumulated rewards worth 10 Silver Scales, you can advance to Black Iron Tier Four.
For team missions, when the captain submits the completion report, they also submit a breakdown of how the reward is to be split among the members.
The Guild will then credit the contribution points corresponding to the reward to each member’s account according to that breakdown."
He chuckled and made a small joke, "Otherwise, as the captain, I’d have to prepare several extra Money Bags, and that would be way too much trouble."
Nearby, the Warrior Belte clapped his chest and chimed in boisterously, "Galen, my friend, you can be a hundred percent sure about that! Our captain is an old-fashioned Knight, a real stickler for the rules! I’m telling you, in our squad, we’re the only ones ever trying to take advantage of him. I’ve never seen him short-change his comrades!"
Hulk, a little embarrassed, gave a light cough to cover it up, then returned to the topic at hand. "Galen, the quest we’ve currently accepted is to clear out a group of Thorny Wild Boars threatening Shixi Village."
"Thorny Wild Boars?" Hesia repeated the name.
He knew of this type of Demon—
a massive, extremely aggressive beast with a back covered in razor-sharp thorns.
They were extremely territorial and would madly attack any intruders. Not only were their tusks sharp enough to gut a man, but the thorns on their backs could also be fired like arrows, making them tough opponents with both defensive and long-range capabilities.
A grave expression appeared on Hesia’s face.
’They don’t sound easy to deal with...’
Hulk seemed to read his mind and explained, "Don’t worry. According to the quest description, it’s just a small sounder of Thorny Wild Boars that has taken over the water source. We estimate there are between five and eight of them, and there should only be one adult male. They’re tough, but with the right tactics, the risk is completely manageable."
Hesia nodded to himself.
’If there aren’t too many of them, the Dragon Fang Squad’s composition should be more than enough to handle it.’
This made him appreciate Hulk’s leadership style even more—
clear objectives, no blind rushing, and a step-by-step approach. This was the most important survival Wisdom for low-level Adventurers.
Moreover, he glanced at the equipment of the others. While not top-tier, Belte’s Longsword and Laila’s longbow were well-maintained, glinting with a practical, cold light.
It was the sign of intelligent people, who knew how to turn every profit into a higher success rate for their next mission, rather than earning a score and immediately blowing it at a tavern.
Working with teammates like these was undoubtedly more reassuring.
As for the mission itself, not only was the reward for the Thorny Wild Boars substantial, but the creatures themselves were also "walking material caches."
Their tusks, thorns, hide, and even their meat could all be sold for a good price.
More importantly, for Hesia, this meant a chance to acquire a new [Entry]!
A Demon that possessed both defensive and offensive abilities was very likely to drop a powerful defensive or offensive entry.
Of course, with only one sounder, whether anything would drop at all—and what it might be—was all up to luck.
Hesia weighed the options in his mind, then nodded. "No problem, I’m in."
"Excellent!" A smile appeared on Hulk’s face. "Alright then, we’ll meet at the town’s west gate tomorrow morning and head to Shixi Village. It’s about a day’s journey from Rose Town, so remember to bring basic supplies and travel provisions."
Then, he turned to the other three squad members, his tone growing serious. "Let’s talk business. Since the Dragon Fang Squad just formed, our first mission, which we took to work on our teamwork, was to exterminate some Demonized Wild Wolves."
Hulk glanced at Hesia, as if explaining to him, "The four of us managed to complete that mission, but it wasn’t easy. The wolf pack was larger than the intel suggested, and they were fast and very difficult to deal with. Belte and Laila both got injured, and Zoya exhausted herself providing cover."
"We used up an entire Healing Potion treating their wounds. That’s why I was in such a hurry to find someone at the Guild today—we need a Mage who can provide effective crowd control and damage output to make up for our squad’s weakness."
After explaining the situation, Hulk turned his gaze back to Belte and Laila. "Since that was our first mission as a team, you can consider the Healing Potion you borrowed from me a welcome gift from your captain. You don’t have to pay me back."
Belte’s and Laila’s eyes lit up.
But Hulk’s voice immediately grew stern again, his tone shifting. "However, let me make one thing clear.
For this mission, everyone must prepare their own emergency supplies!
I won’t force everyone to have a Healing Potion, but you must bring enough hemostatic bandages and basic herbs at the very least!
I don’t want to see anyone going into battle empty-handed, expecting to get supplies from me again!"
The ever-silent Stalker, Zoya, gave a slight nod. Her figure flickered and she silently melted into the crowd at the street corner, obviously off to procure supplies.
The Warrior, Belte, just chuckled sheepishly and scratched his head. "Got it, got it~ Heh heh, you’re so generous, Captain! Next time, I’ll borrow again..."
Hulk shot him an irritated glare. "You were the one who got mauled the worst by the wolves last time! If you borrow again, I’m deducting it directly from your pay. You won’t even get enough contribution to rank up!"
"No, Captain!" Belte’s face immediately fell into a pitiful pout. "I’ll go buy some right now! I’ll buy ten!"
This was obviously an exaggeration.
Basic Healing Potions were extremely expensive. For a fledgling squad like theirs, just pooling enough money to have one on hand for emergencies was already a feat.
With that, he pulled along Laila, who was still curiously sizing up Bruce, and they headed toward the southwest corner of the town center.
They had just gotten a little ways off when Laila’s faint complaint could be heard: "This is all your fault, you jinx! You just had to praise him for being an ’old-fashioned stickler for the rules.’ Now look what you’ve done. You praised him so much he remembered to be shrewd again."
Hulk shook his head helplessly, then said to Hesia, "Let’s go, Galen. We need to head back to the Guild together now. We have to temporarily register your Adventurer’s Badge under the Dragon Fang Squad’s name. That way, the Guild can sync the team’s mission completion records and reward distribution to your personal file."
"Alright," Hesia nodded in agreement.
He glanced at the mountain of a man that was Hulk, then thought about his new teammates with their distinct personalities. A flicker of anticipation for the upcoming mission sparked within him.
