Chapter 128: Chapter 127: Peggy’s Finale

Hesia placed his hand on the spine of the book and silently thought, ’Ghost Witch.’

A warm wave of Magic Power immediately radiated from the book, like a gentle stream flowing into his mind. Detailed information about Ghost Witches instantly appeared, clear and organized, as if he were seeing it firsthand.

Green Ghost Witch:

Adventure Level: 20-22 (According to Adventurer Guild standards, this is equivalent to a newly awakened Professional Level Caster).

Characteristics: Skin is a filthy green, body is slender and lanky, and hair resembles rotten seaweed.

Habits: Haunts woodlands, swamps, or desolate riverbeds.

They delight in capturing prey through disguise and lies, imitating the cries of children, the pleas for help from travelers, or transforming into beautiful maidens to lure victims into their lairs.

Skills: ...

Sea Ghost Witch: ...

Demon Ghost Witch:

Adventure Level: 35-40

Characteristics: Enormous in size, with sickly blue or black skin. Their bodies have the hardness of steel.

Habits: Dwell in mountains or caves. Unlike Green Ghost Witches, Demon Ghost Witches revel in pure violence and torture. They enjoy capturing powerful creatures, especially Ogres and Giants, tormenting them to the point of mental collapse to keep as "pets" or devour them raw. They have a particular fondness for eating children.

Skills: ...

Ghost Witch Coven:

When three Ghost Witches of different types gather, they can form a "Ghost Witch Coven."

Members of the coven share their Magic Power, enabling them to perform powerful Magic that far exceeds their individual capabilities.

The power of each Ghost Witch within a "Ghost Witch Coven" is greatly enhanced.

Below the description was a line of text that had been crossed out, almost illegible.

And beneath the strike-through was a scrawled, handwritten note:

Forgot again that these Ghost Witches contact each other! Next time I run into one, I must remember to pretend to be of similar strength and see if I can lure the other two over for a coven meeting. After all, it’s really hard to find a more suitable natural Wand Tip than their skulls.

Before Hesia could even finish reading the note, the scrawled handwriting rapidly faded away.

The text that had been struck out then reappeared clearly—

Academy Safety Rules: A single Ghost Witch is already a deadly nuisance, and a Ghost Witch coven is a disaster capable of destroying an entire region. If you confirm you are facing a coven, abandon the mission immediately and retreat at maximum speed. Yes, I mean run.

"To prevent my note from leading you astray, I restored that old fossil’s nonsense for you. Alright, come take a look at your new Magic Wand." Fevik’s voice drifted over from the workbench.

Hesia looked up.

At the tip of the nearly two-meter-long Black Ebony Staff Material, a jet-black head, thirty to forty centimeters long, was now firmly embedded. This brought the entire Magic Wand to a rather absurd length and gave it a shocking visual impact.

Pitch-black from end to end, the ominous aura emanating from the Demon Ghost Witch’s head in particular gave the Magic Wand an incredibly imposing presence.

Hesia thought to himself, ’Anyone who glimpses this thing from afar would almost certainly mistake it for a terrifying Long-handled Warhammer or some kind of Exotic Heavy Weapon.’

Up close, feeling the cold, lingering Magic Power and seeing its ferocious appearance, no one would ever associate its wielder with words like "Good" or "Lawful."

"I won’t bore you with the details of its effects." Fevik waved her hand. "Use your Identification Skill and see for yourself."

Hesia nodded, reciting the Magic in his mind.

[Peggy’s Finale]

Type: Weapon (Magic Wand)

Quality: Epic (Purple)

Description: Forged from a piece of Black Ebony Staff Material stained with goblin blood and the head of Peggy Pork Chop.

Peggy Pork Chop: The most powerful Demon Ghost Witch in the Twilight Sisterhood. After receiving an invitation to a coven meeting from Grandma Willow in the Gray Mist Forest, she took a shortcut through the Elf Wilderness. However, as she emerged from the wilderness’s Teleportation Gate, she was met with a [Magic Duncan’s Sword] so fast she had no time to react.

Spell Amplification: The Wisdom of Peggy Pork Chop will infuse your Magic, suffusing it with the cunning of a Demon Ghost Witch.

Biting: Peggy’s resentment toward all living things did not dissipate with death. When her head draws near a target, this resentment manifests as a vicious bite.

Attached Skill 1: [Reanimated Corpse Level 4: Your Magic Power transforms into a foul imitation of Life Energy and is injected into a target, reviving it as an Undead Creature. If you choose bones, the target becomes a skeleton; if you choose a corpse, the target becomes a zombie.]

Attached Skill 2: [Ghost Witch Disguise Technique: Transforms you (and your personal belongings) into whatever form you imagine. Lasts until the Magic ends or is willingly dispelled. Duration: 1 hour. Cooldown: 24 hours.]

As Hesia read through the long list of descriptions and various powerful bonuses, only one thought came to mind:

’Talk about a major upgrade...’

"Place your Spiritual Brand on the Magic Wand, and it will be yours," Fevik reminded him. "It needs to be sustained by your Magic Power, but with your recovery rate, it shouldn’t be much of a burden."

She paused, then added with emphasis, "Disguise is an innate magic of Ghost Witches. It’s much more powerful than the ordinary [Disguise Technique]. It’s very difficult to see through, unless someone is far more powerful than you."

"The main thing is [Reanimated Corpse]. I don’t know if that old hag used this Magic every day or what, but its Magic Level is very high. That means you can probably control more than one undead servant at a time, and you might even be able to try reanimating a corpse that’s slightly stronger than you. But remember!" Her tone became serious. "If the target’s level is far higher than yours, don’t even try it. Your entire pool of Magic Power could be drained in an instant."

"Understood. Thank you, Teacher. I’ve memorized it all."

Under Fevik’s guidance, Hesia infused Magic Power into the Magic Wand. A current of Magic Power flowed from his arm into the staff; the Black Ebony Staff Material was already highly compatible with him.

The Magic Power rapidly converged within the massive head.

He felt an invisible link form between his spirit and the Magic Wand, as if a distinct CLICK echoed from the depths of his soul.

Unlike any weapon he had ever touched, he could clearly feel this Magic Wand possessed a Will of its own. Though the Demon Ghost Witch’s head radiated a bone-chilling malice, it became tame beneath his brand, unable to defy his commands.

Holding this powerful Magic Wand, Hesia was overwhelmed with emotion.

If he had previously felt that Fevik taking him as an apprentice was a bit of a lark, now, after receiving the practical Magic Manual and this Epic Level weapon, Hesia understood that she was truly treating him as her student.

[Affinity with Ghostly Half-Elf Fevik QuickThought has increased. Decryption Points +1]

’Huh? I was just thanking her in my head. Why did her Affinity increase again?’

Hesia looked at Fevik in confusion.

As it happened, Fevik was also looking at him.

Noticing Hesia’s gaze, she immediately looked away, twisting her lips in an awkward expression.

"Hey, you... what’s with that look in your eyes? Cut it out! I hate this sappy, sentimental stuff!"
