Jack looked at the panel that appeared in front of him.

Next Alien Unlock: 3200

Okay, so a thousand points. And the next alien unlock needs 3200 points. That’s more than double the previous requirement.

Jack thought it over. Knowing how the system worked, combined with what he already knew about the future of this planet and its people, he had a few guesses forming.

Let future me deal with the rest of it.

Rath and Zehoberei... I never actually tried Rath after unlocking it. Might as well check the details now.

He tapped Rath’s entry on the status screen.

Name: Rath

Species Name: Appoplexian

Home Planet: Appoplexia

Appearance: A large, muscular, tiger-like humanoid alien with orange fur, black stripes, sharp claws, and powerful jaws. Very strong and aggressive in appearance.

Powers: Superhuman strength, enhanced durability, powerful jumping ability, sharp claws and teeth, and excellent close-range combat ability.

Special Trait: Extremely aggressive personality and easily angered. Becomes more reckless and aggressive in battle when enraged.

Advantages: Extremely strong and durable, excellent in close combat, can overpower physically strong enemies, and can keep fighting even after taking heavy damage.

Disadvantages: No major long-range attack, not particularly fast compared to speed-based aliens, and his temper can lead to reckless decisions.

Mm, aggressive personality, huh. Jack thought back to how Ben always voiced Rath. He wasn’t entirely sure how much of that trait would actually affect him. He’d already felt some influence from aliens like Four Arms before, but with a strict time limit and mostly using his forms for combat, it had never been a real problem.

Let’s check Zehoberei next.

Name: Zehoberei

Species: Zehoberei

Home Planet: Zen-Whoberi

Appearance: Green-skinned humanoids with a human-like appearance and strong physical bodies.

Powers: Enhanced strength, speed, agility, reflexes, durability, stamina, and healing.

Special Trait: Naturally skilled physical fighters.

Advantages: Excellent physical abilities and combat potential.

Disadvantages: No major natural ranged or energy-based abilities.

Just as I guessed. The Omnitrix gave me an elite version of the species.

He closed the status panel and turned to Gwen.

"Gwen, since Kalen’s traveling with us now, I’m going to head into the city and find us some kind of transport."

"Why don’t you just fly with him while I fly on my own?" Gwen asked. "Even injured, I don’t think it’d be that hard for him to handle."

"With the energy I have left, I’d rather not waste it on carrying someone for hours. Besides, flying long distances while carrying another person isn’t exactly easy."

Gwen smiled.

"You can fly just fine while carrying me."

Jack paused.

He suddenly imagined himself carrying Kalen through the sky the same way he’d carried Gwen before, one arm under his legs and the other around his back like some kind of princess.

...Ew. Absolutely not.

Jack shook his head, trying to get the image out of his mind.

He looked at Gwen, who was already laughing at the thought.

"You’re enjoying this way too much," Jack muttered.

Gwen just laughed harder.

Jack sighed, walked over, and lightly tapped her nose with his finger.

"Very funny."

Without waiting for her response, he turned around and headed toward the city.

I’m getting a vehicle. End of discussion.

Jack headed back into the city, this time in his Zehoberei form and without covering his face, so no one gave him a second glance.

The streets were filled with green-skinned Zehoberei going about their daily lives. Some carried bags from small shops, while others stood outside buildings talking among themselves. But compared to the previous time he’d been here, the atmosphere felt much more tense. Soldiers were still patrolling the streets, stopping people and checking them as they searched for someone.

Jack kept his head down and moved through the crowd, picking up supplies for the journey, including clothes, medicine for Kalen, food, and a few other things they might need. Once he had everything, he started asking around about vehicles.

The only vehicles he’d seen were car-like machines, and most of them seemed to belong to nobles or wealthy Zehoberei. With the little money he had left from selling the monsters he’d hunted, there was no way he could afford one.

Guess stealing’s really the only option left. I know, stealing’s bad. But hey, a hero taking from bad guys and giving to the poor? That still counts. And right now... I am the poor.

With that excuse firmly planted in his mind, Jack started looking for a suitable target.

As he moved through the streets, he overheard two Zehoberei talking nearby.

"I still don’t understand what that girl did for the general to order her public execution."

Jack slowed down and looked toward them.

A small crowd had gathered around a notice board nearby. Curious, he walked over and looked at the notice.

FEMALE PRISONER — TO BE EXECUTED

A young Zehoberei woman’s face was printed on the poster.

"Heard she’s connected to whoever those soldiers have been tearing the city apart looking for," someone nearby said.

Jack frowned.

Connected to Kalen? Does he know her?

He looked at the poster again.

The execution was scheduled for noon.

Jack quickly took a picture of the notice using the nano function built into his Plumber suit. Even while transformed into an alien, he could still use the suit’s functions. The nanobots could form parts of the suit around his alien body whenever he needed them, such as a helmet, gloves, or other equipment.

Even in an alien form, being able to use the suit is pretty useful.

Jack moved away from the crowd and slipped into a quiet alley. Once he was alone, he used the suit to send the image to Gwen.

"Gwen, show Kalen the picture I just sent. Ask him if he knows who the girl is."

"Okay. Hold on, let me ask him."

A moment later, Gwen came back.

"Jack, he says she’s his childhood friend. He has no idea why the soldiers captured her."
