Marvel: I Am The Lord of the Shadow Dimension

Chương 84: Chapter 84: Thor, Do You Want a Sister?

  • Next Chapter

Walking down the halls, deeply engrossed in thought, Luke finally arrived at the Grand Library of Kamar-Taj.

He knew exactly why the Ancient One had chosen to voice her deepest fears out loud while an "invisible" Shadow Ninja was standing in the corner. It was a calculated move. She wanted the ninja to transmit the message. She was subtly drawing a line in the sand, officially stating her absolute bottom line.

Luke carefully reviewed his own internal thoughts and desires. Did he genuinely want to merge Earth with the Dark Dimension? After several minutes of deep introspection, Luke realized that he honestly possessed zero desire to do so.

Lately, his primary focus had been on how to maximize his gaming time and trying to figure out why his mobile game opponent hadn't been penalized for an obvious cheat. Who had the time or energy to plot the apocalyptic assimilation of an entire planet?

Feeling completely relaxed, Luke entered the massive, labyrinthine library. Amidst a sea of disciples dressed in traditional, flowing monk robes and Tang-style martial arts uniforms, he easily spotted a highly conspicuous figure.

Sylvie was hunched over a massive, incredibly old grimoire, a deep, frustrated frown carved into her face. Next to her was a smartphone provided by the Ancient One, currently displaying a clunky translation app attempting to decipher ancient Chinese characters.

But...

Why does translating this stuff into English feel so incredibly wrong? The grammar makes absolutely no sense, half the words are completely fabricated, and there are entire concepts that literally have no English equivalent!

Sylvie groaned in despair, rubbing her temples in frustration. Is learning authentic magic always this incredibly difficult?

"This specific passage dictates how to physically interlock the primary array matrix with the third subsidiary branch, thereby ensuring an absolutely even distribution of ambient energy to maintain structural stability during the casting process," a voice suddenly narrated flawlessly from her side.

Sylvie lowered her hands and looked up.

"Uncle! Are you finished with your business?" Sylvie eagerly jotted down Luke's translation in a notebook before collapsing exhaustedly onto the desk.

"Is this particular grimoire really that difficult to understand?" Luke picked up the heavy tome and skimmed the ancient text.

"Honestly, every single grimoire in this library is incredibly difficult. They're all written in incredibly obscure, archaic dialects," Sylvie sighed helplessly, placing a bookmark carefully between the pages.

"Well, instead of trying to translate the books directly, why don't you focus on learning the language first?"

"Because I looked up the standard Chinese proficiency exams on the internet, and they absolutely terrified me. I guarantee you, I would need to study for at least ten solid years just to pass a basic conversational exam," Sylvie smiled bitterly.

"It might not be as difficult as you think," Luke mused. "Maybe someday I'll take you over to the other side of the world for a little vacation. Total immersion might help you pick up the language significantly faster."

"Maybe. I hope so," Sylvie prayed earnestly.

Luke then noticed the polished brass Sling Ring secured on her fingers. "Looks like you've officially become a recognized sorcerer of Kamar-Taj."

"I have," Sylvie smiled proudly, showing off the ring. "I managed to master the portal spell rather quickly. Master Ancient One was so impressed she officially accepted me as her direct, personal disciple."

"Direct, personal disciple?!" Luke was genuinely shocked.

If he remembered correctly, Stephen Strange had never been officially accepted as the Ancient One's 'direct, personal disciple.'

Does this mean the future Sorcerer Supreme is going to have to address Sylvie as his 'Senior Martial Sister'?! Wait... what is Stephen going to have to call me?! 'Lord Sponsor'?!

Luke's thoughts began to derail into hilarious hypotheticals before Sylvie pulled him back to reality.

"When can we go see my mother?" Sylvie asked, completely unable to contain herself any longer. The primary reason Luke had managed to convince her to join his universe was the promise of reuniting with a version of her lost mother.

She had managed to forcefully suppress her overwhelming impatience while Luke was handling 'business' with the Ancient One, but seeing him lounging around casually completely shattered her self-control.

"Uh, let me ask Odin where he is right now." Seeing her desperate, anxious expression, Luke didn't want to drag it out any longer. He immediately initiated a telepathic connection with Odin using the royal token.

"Well, what a pleasant surprise! To what do I owe the pleasure of speaking with you, young man?" Odin's booming, jovial voice echoed in Luke's mind.

"You sound like you're in an incredibly good mood. What happened?"

"Ah! A few days ago, my scouts successfully located Thanos's primary armada! I personally led a strike force and completely obliterated his flagship! Although the coward himself wasn't aboard, blowing up his precious ship definitely cooled my temper significantly. I claimed a few interesting spoils of war from the wreckage and returned to Asgard to handle some administrative matters," Odin laughed heartily. "Also, coincidentally, my wayward son Loki finally returned! I have you to thank for that, Luke!"

"Uh, no problem. Speaking of Loki, how's his... arm?"

"It's the strangest thing! While traversing the Void, I randomly stumbled upon a severed, perfectly preserved Frost Giant arm drifting in space. I brought it back to Asgard, and what do you know? It was a perfect genetic match for Loki! What a wonderful coincidence!" Odin continued to chuckle warmly.

"That truly is a miraculous coincidence," Luke couldn't help but laugh out loud.

Odin was an absolute loot goblin. He loved collecting powerful artifacts—like the Eternal Flame and the Casket of Ancient Winters—and apparently, he had decided to casually collect his own son's severed arm as a 'spoil of war' after returning from hunting Thanos.

Furthermore, compared to the terrifying, imposing, inevitable Thanos from the movies, this timeline's Thanos was having an absolutely miserable, pathetic existence. Not only had two of his top generals been brutally massacred, but the All-Father himself was actively hunting him down and blowing up his fleets just to blow off steam!

The sheer absurdity of the situation made Luke want to laugh hysterically.

Suddenly, Luke felt a terrifying, icy chill run down his spine. He slowly turned his head and saw Sylvie glaring at him with absolute, murderous intent.

Cough! Back to business!

Luke immediately suppressed his laughter. "Uh, Old Man, are you currently with Frigga?"

"I am. Why do you ask?"

"Are Thor or anyone else present?"

"No, we are alone. What exactly is going on, Luke?" Odin's tone shifted, sensing the seriousness.

"Actually, I have someone here with me who very much hopes to meet with both of you."

"Is this a formal diplomatic meeting?" Odin's guard immediately went up.

"It's not exactly 'formal.' It's... well, it's primarily a highly personal matter concerning you and Frigga."

Luke honestly had absolutely no idea how to properly phrase the request. He couldn't exactly say: 'Hey Odin! I have your long-lost daughter hostage! If you want to see her alive, meet me at eight o'clock tonight!'

A long, tense silence followed. Odin was likely discussing the bizarre request with Frigga.

"I have spoken with Frigga. I will send you the coordinates to a highly secure, private location shortly. We will meet you and your 'guest' there," Odin finally responded.

"Understood. We'll get ready on our end," Luke replied, smiling warmly at the hyper-ventilating Sylvie.

Luke ended the communication. He looked helplessly at Sylvie, who looked like she was about to literally explode from excitement.

"Are you really that excited?"

Sylvie's expression shifted into one of profound, overwhelming emotion.

"I was violently abducted by the Time Variance Authority when I was just a little girl! They completely pruned my timeline! I have lived for centuries absolutely convinced that I would never, ever see my mother again!"

Tears welled up in Sylvie's eyes, and she offered Luke a radiant, heartbreakingly genuine smile. "Thank you. Thank you so much, Uncle."

"Don't worry about it. We just have to wait for Odin to send the coordinates. Do you need to prepare anything before we go?"

Sylvie suddenly froze, sheer panic washing over her face. "Uh... I'm meeting my parents for the first time in centuries! What am I supposed to bring?! What is the proper etiquette?!"

"Honestly, I have no idea. Your situation is incredibly unique. But generally speaking, bringing some high-quality alcohol and snacks is never a bad idea. Odin and the Asgardians absolutely love to drink, and Frigga would probably appreciate some good food."

Luke offered his best generic advice. Sylvie didn't even wait for him to finish; she immediately sprinted out of the library at superhuman speeds.

"Doesn't she know I have an army of ninjas who can instantly deliver anything she wants?!" Luke sighed, lowering his hand. Clearly, Sylvie was running entirely on pure, frantic adrenaline.

A short while later, Sylvie returned, struggling to carry a massive, teetering pile of premium alcohol, exquisite pastries, and various Midgardian delicacies.

"Are you sure you need all of that?" Luke stared at the ridiculous mountain of food. Are you afraid Asgard is suffering from a famine?

"Honestly, I feel like I should have bought more. But if you think it's enough, then I suppose it will do," Sylvie muttered, her cheeks burning with embarrassment.

Right on cue, Odin's secure coordinates transmitted to Luke's mind. He prepared to draw the Sling Ring portal.

"Wait!" Sylvie suddenly gasped. "Should I change my clothes?! Do I look presentable?!"

"You look perfectly fine! Let's go!" Luke ignored her panic, forcefully drew the portal, and pushed her through.

They arrived in a grand, beautifully decorated, highly secure private chamber within the Royal Palace. It seemed Odin had ensured absolute privacy.

"Well, you certainly brought quite a feast today!" Odin laughed warmly, assuming Sylvie was simply a new subordinate or companion of Luke's.

"Do not speak so hastily, Odin. I sense something... extraordinary," Frigga stepped forward, her eyes wide with profound shock. Raised by powerful witches, her mystical perception was far greater than Odin's.

"Child... what is your name?"

Sylvie glanced nervously at Luke. Taking a deep, trembling breath, she stepped forward.

"My name is Sylvie. But... you may also call me Loki."

The next hour was intensely emotional. Luke provided Odin and Frigga with a comprehensive, abridged explanation regarding the Multiverse, branching timelines, and the horrifying actions of the Time Variance Authority.

Frigga's eyes filled with profound sorrow and unconditional love. She stepped forward and gently, warmly grasped Sylvie's trembling hands.

"You poor, brave child. If you have nowhere else to go... you are more than welcome to live here, in Asgard. If you wish... you may look upon me as your mother."

"Truly?" Sylvie gasped, the tears she had been desperately holding back finally spilling over and streaming down her face.

"Of course," Frigga smiled radiantly, pulling the sobbing girl into a tight, warm embrace. "I shall inform your future brother of the joyous news immediately."

Frigga gently wiped a tear from her own eye and activated her magical communication link, connecting directly to the Grand Infirmary.

"Thor? Dear? How would you like to have a sister?"
