Chapter 678: Exceptional Advantage! Another Strike Against Shadow Tower!
Chu Ming, familiar with the process, picked up the sword intent and merged it into the Seven-Star Divine Sword.
However, this fusion encountered an unexpected event.
The Seven-Star Divine Sword that should have absorbed this ball of sword intent was repelling it as if it were overfed.
“Master…” Xing Man seemed to know the reason, respectfully walked over and said, “Han Court said that through sword intent and sword fragments, the Seven-Star Divine Sword can only be improved to the level of a second-class Innate Spiritual Treasure.”
“To transform the Seven-Star Divine Sword to a first-class Innate Spiritual Treasure, one must enter the depths of the Seven-Star Sword Tomb’s Sword Abyss and merge with the Sword Spirit.”
Simply put, the Seven-Star Divine Sword itself has a limit; to advance further, sword intent and sword fragments are useless, requiring a higher-level Sword Spirit instead.
Chu Ming wasn’t too surprised as he had somewhat suspected.
If these sword intents and sword fragments continued to enhance the Seven-Star Divine Sword, then Han Court, possessing the strength to conquer the Sixth Sword Tomb, wouldn’t stay in the Sixth Sword Tomb to continuously acquire sword intents and sword fragments—why attempt further depths of the Sword Abyss?
He verified his suspicion through the Seven-Star Divine Sword.
Looking at the sword intent light cluster, Chu Ming flicked his fingers, tossing it to Xing Man.
“Master…” Xing Man’s heart trembled, eyes flashing with excitement.
“I find it useless now; you go ahead and merge it.” Chu Ming said solemnly.
“Thank you, Master.” Xing Man rejoiced.
Chu Ming quietly lowered his gaze, picked up the sword fragments, deep and unperturbed.
The Seven-Star Divine Sword in his hand was indeed no longer needed for sword intent, but another sword could use it.
Regarding Xing Man herself, once she fulfills her intended role, there’s no need to keep her.
Just as the other Seven-Star Divine Sword was absorbing sword intent, a commotion came from the right rear.
As before, first came a lingering shadow, then a sharp ‘crack’ sound was heard.
The shadow was the Ghost Demon assassin from the Shadow Tower, again being pursued by the Vengeful Spirit.
However, compared to before, the Ghost Demon upon a second return was far less well-off than the first time.
At this moment, the Ghost Demon’s right arm was empty, face pale, the fleeing shadow even tinged with red.
Clearly, he had been severely injured by the Vengeful Spirit, limiting his tunneling speed significantly.
Yet despite this, the Ghost Demon, upon seeing Xing Man and the black-clothed youth still in the area, flashed faces of surprise and malevolence.
His rerouted escape method intended to direct trouble to others once again, drawing the Vengeful Spirit’s hatred onto Xing Man and the youth, allowing him a chance to escape.
Indeed, according to plan, the Vengeful Spirit truly abandoned its pursuit of him and instead charged at Xing Man and the youth with its sword.
The Ghost Demon was overjoyed, preparing to continue fleeing.
However.
Whizz—
From nowhere, a chilling sound of killing soared across the sky.
Before the Ghost Demon realized, several flashes of silver light passed by, followed by an icy sensation piercing his body.
He looked down in astonishment, finding specks of fresh blood at his chest.
“I…”
The Ghost Demon widened his eyes, radiant light flickering in his hands, hastily retrieving an elixir to save his life.
Slash—
Yet another silver flash struck, severing his remaining limbs, scattering the elixir.
“Ah—”
In an instant, his face contorted, crying out in agony.
But the screams did not last; accompanied by a silver glow cutting across his neck, the Sword Tomb was left with the sound of ‘sizzling’.
The body fell, the head rolled, the Ghost Demon gazing at the black-clothed youth approaching unhurriedly, his emotions of defiance and anger ultimately returning to chaos.
Chu Ming came over, leaned down to pick up the Ghost Demon’s personal Storage Space.
Yet at this moment, a gray light floated from the Ghost Demon’s corpse, triggering some mechanism, with an instant dark beam shot from the Celestial Curtain in the Sixth Sword Tomb, precisely hitting the light cluster.
“Master, living creatures dying in the Sixth Sword Tomb have their souls captured by the Sword Tomb, then transformed into a Vengeful Spirit!” Xing Man lifted her sword, “Let me extinguish him!”
Transform into a Vengeful Spirit?
Chu Ming raised his eyebrows, pondering how to find a Vengeful Spirit.
“No need.”
He stopped Xing Man, allowing the Ghost Demon’s body to be transformed by the Sword Tomb.
Xing Man paused, understanding the intent, then gazed at the Sword Tomb’s transformation of a Vengeful Spirit with complex emotions.
She hadn’t expected to one day witness the birth of a Sixth Sword Tomb Vengeful Spirit with such composure.
Above, another Vengeful Spirit was dissipating, making a ‘sizzling’ sound, Xing Man cautiously gazed at the black-clad figure.
“What kind of monstrous character could possess such strength and daring?”
After waiting a moment, before fully converting into a Vengeful Spirit, the pursuing Vengeful Spirit had already completely vanished, leaving sword intent and sword intent fragments.
As usual, Chu Ming threw the sword intent to Xing Man, left behind the black sword fragment.
Following this, he turned his gaze to the transforming Ghost Demon Vengeful Spirit.
Calculating, with the Ghost Demon Vengeful Spirit, he had collected twenty pieces of black sword fragments possessing dark power.
Twenty pieces, Chu Ming estimated, could not only restore the Black Soul Wood to its previous state but also enhance it significantly.
Another half an hour passed, the whole of the Ghost Demon’s corpse was engulfed by the Sword Tomb’s descending beam, the Ghost Demon’s remaining soul visibly growing stronger.
Until.
“Crack—”
Another familiar sharp sound appeared, the Ghost Demon’s remaining soul entirely transformed into a Vengeful Spirit.
This Vengeful Spirit seemed to retain the Ghost Demon’s will for a moment, casting a hateful look at Chu Ming.
But here, it seemed merely the initial forming of the Vengeful Spirit, its strengthening step yet to come due to multiple entrants.
Sure enough, just as the Vengeful Spirit transformed by the Ghost Demon was about to wield its sword at Chu Ming, the celestial beam above reinforced itself, enveloping the Vengeful Spirit, countless terrifying sword intents imposing a brutish path through it.
