Chapter 6731: You Are Unworthy
“Chu Feng, your grandmother is still with me. I’ll entrust her to you now. You can check for yourself—she is really cultivating. Jie Tianran didn’t harm her.” The old entity opened his palm, and the formation where Jie Nianqing was trapped drifted toward Chu Feng.
He didn’t even consider holding Jie Nianqing hostage to coerce Chu Feng into submission. There was such a huge gap in their strengths that it was simply meaningless to hold someone hostage.
When the formation realm drifted into Chu Feng’s grasp, he quickly confirmed that Jie Nianqing was safe before stowing the formation realm in his palm.
“Chu Feng, I have returned your grandmother to you. As you have seen, she is fine. While Jie Tianran has attempted to take your life, they have failed. There is no grudge between us. Why don’t we work together instead?
“I have existed since the Immemorial Era. The world knows me as the Five Realms Immortal Exalted. I am skilled in the world spiritist techniques of the Demon, Fairy, Ghost, Monster, and Beast Spirit Worlds. I am only weakened due to my impaired body.
“You have heard of Qin Jiu, right? I was the one who trained him. You can work with me. I’ll be your mas... No, I’ll be your friend and assist you, just like how I assisted Jie Tianran. You are far more talented than Jie Tianran. With my help, you can surely become this era’s Qin Jiu.”
Bzzzt!
Lightning bolts pierced the old entity’s body. Even his screams seemed to be quivering.
“You are unworthy of mentioning Qin Jiu’s name,” Chu Feng said. It was an insult to Qin Jiu for the old entity to speak his name.
“I won’t speak his name anymore! Chu Feng, there is no grudge between us. Jie Tianran is the one who insists on killing you. I tried talking him out of it, but he refused to listen. If you want to kill him, go ahead. I can even do it on your behalf. Please, spare my life. I can help you,” the old entity exclaimed.
“Spare you? Why should I? You were planning to massacre everyone in the eight galaxies. Do you think that only your life has value, whereas others are nothing at all?”
The more Chu Feng thought about it, the angrier he felt. Countless lightning bolts zapped the old entity’s body, severing his limbs, vaporizing his blood, and causing his body to curl up.
The old entity stopped pleading and instead cursed at Jie Tianran. “Jie Tianran, you idiot!”
His tattered soul flew out of Jie Tianran’s impaired body, and the latter reverted to its original appearance. He grabbed Jie Tianran by the hair and pushed him down to a kneeling position. “Jie Tianran, you were the one who caused this mess. Apologize to Chu Feng right now!”
The old entity held Jie Tianran’s head firmly in place, directing it toward Chu Feng.
Jie Tianran looked dazed. Despite being ravaged by lightning, he seemed to have forgotten his pain. He stared intently at Chu Feng, unable to utter a word. He had witnessed the earlier battle, and Chu Feng’s strength surpassed his wildest imagination.
He knew deep down that the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion would have risen to unprecedented heights if Chu Feng had joined them... but it was too late for regrets. He had made a fatal mistake.
The old entity pushed Jie Tianran’s head down to kowtow to Chu Feng again and again.
Both the Netherworld Sectmembers and the Chu Clan Alliance’s members thought that their infighting was unsightly. Both powers had remained loyal to Chu Feng even when their lives were threatened.
But Jie Tianran and the old entity, despite being top powerhouses of the world of cultivation, showed such cowardice in the face of death. They weren’t even as dignified as small fry like them. It was truly ironic.
Just because a person was strong didn’t mean that they were brave and noble.
“Speak, Jie Tianran! Apologize to Chu Feng right now!” Seeing that Chu Feng wasn’t budging, the old entity continued to coerce Jie Tianran.
Jie Tianran finally said impassively, “Kill me, Chu Feng.”
It was not his first time saying these words. He had resolved himself to die and had told Chu Feng to kill him before the old entity made his move. But unlike before, this time, his tone was tinged with regret.
There was no point in saying anything since it was meaningless. Decisions couldn’t be reversed once they were made. Jie Tianran had many chances to right things, but his obstinacy and arrogance blinded him, till there were no more chances left.
What frustrated him was that the prophecy he had believed in could have been tampered with by others. For instance, the prophecy he had received from God’s Era was Chu Feng’s bloodline playing a trick on him.
This plunged him into despair. He felt like his faith had shattered.
Right now, he wanted nothing more than to die.
“Kill him, Chu Feng. You should put an end to the culprit who separated your family. However, I implore you to spare me. I’ll make up for my mistakes and join your Chu Clan Alliance to serve you,” the old entity said.
Chu Feng didn’t even bother glancing at the old entity. At least Jie Tianran showed more guts than the old entity, though that didn’t mean that he had any sympathy for Jie Tianran. No matter what, Jie Tianran deserved to die.
“Be a better person in your next life,” Chu Feng said.
A nine-colored lightning descended and struck Jie Tianran.
Boom!
The lightning caused huge shockwaves, but Chu Feng’s eyes narrowed in shock. He sensed that Jie Tianran and the old entity were still alive, and they were quickly fleeing into the distance.
Chu Feng hurriedly gave chase.
Meanwhile, Jie Tianran and the old entity found themselves moving swiftly in a divine, golden space.
The old entity asked, “You were still hiding a hand?”
From that, Jie Tianran knew that the old entity was not behind this. This made him wonder who saved them.
Just then, both Jie Tianran and the old entity looked in the same direction. A man appeared amid the golden light, and he emanated an incomparably powerful aura. Even the old entity, despite still holding onto some of his formation’s energy, felt as small as an ant before him.
The old entity lowered himself and bowed to the man. “Thank you for saving us, milord.”
The world of cultivation was filled with hidden experts. If the old entity could survive to the present era, it shouldn’t come as a surprise if other powerhouses were also hiding in the eight galaxies.
Jie Tianran knew that as well. He got up and respectfully bowed to the man as well. “Elder, thank you for your help.”
“Elder?” the man sneered.
Jie Tianran was taken aback. He sensed something amiss from the other party’s tone.
“If anything, I should be calling you father-in-law instead. What a pity you are unworthy,” the man said as he stepped out from the golden light.
