Chapter 6711: A Battle of Nerves
Chu Feng analyzed the black bracelets to deduce how the Netherworld Sectmembers ought to react when they were under the effects of the gu poison.
...
Jie Tianran was still standing on the pedestal.
God’s Era was moving so fast that it flitted across countless realms in an instant. He felt like a god who dictated the life and death of the masses. Yet, instead of looking happy, he had a grim expression.
He knew that he had nothing to do with God’s Era’s movement. In fact, he had even dispelled his observation formation to contemplate the current situation.
Why was God’s Era heading to the Bloodline Galaxy, where the phenomenon was? He had previously suspected that the phenomenon was one of Chu Feng’s hands. He couldn’t help but wonder if God’s Era was looking for Chu Feng.
That didn’t bode well, as he hadn’t obtained God’s Era’s final power yet.
The more he thought about it, the more anxious he felt.
That made him more desperate to grasp God’s Era’s power, as that was the only way he could dispel his worries. Under his relentless effort, he found a way out. He was confident that as long as he grasped the power before him, Chu Feng would be dead meat.
Over a thousand talisman papers floated around the pedestals, revolving under Jie Tianran’s control. The spirit power emanated by each of these talisman papers would shock anyone. He was constructing an extremely potent formation.
“Jie Tianran, you’re going to empty your coffers at this rate. You’ll lose big if God’s Era doesn’t at least give you something equivalent in exchange,” the old entity inside Jie Tianran’s body said.
These talisman papers were powerful, but they didn’t come easily.
That was why he constantly reminded himself that these talisman papers were one-time consumables and that he shouldn’t be reliant on them. Unless he was truly cornered, he wouldn’t resort to these talisman papers or the Ancient Era’s treasures.
But in the end, he had still grown reliant on the talisman papers and had begun using them unreservedly. He even ignored the advice from the old entity inside him. It was not that he didn’t hear the old entity, but he didn’t want to be distracted from whatever he was doing.
He had to succeed no matter the cost.
Pu pu pu!
The thousand talisman papers simultaneously ignited into flames, forming a formation that revolved around the pedestal. He had finally activated the formation. As long as he succeeded in the activation, he would be able to attain the power he sought.
“You actually did it. Well done,” the old entity praised.
Jie Tianran’s formation was extremely difficult to construct. It was still unknown whether the activation would be a success or not, but this was a good start.
Jie Tianran also exhaled in relief. “Elder, I am truly scared.”
“Scared?” The old entity was taken aback. It was rare for the proud Jie Tianran to use such a term. “What are you scared of?”
“The more I understand God’s Era, the more unfathomable it feels to me. If I can grasp it, even if my spirit power doesn’t surge right away, I have no doubt that my future will be bright,” Jie Tianran said.
“But stronger powers tend to be more difficult to conquer,” the old entity pointed out.
“Yes. That is why I fail to ascend to the throne no matter how hard I try,” Jie Tianran sighed.
“So, what are you scared about?”
“Strong powers share a common trait—they proactively seek their masters. Chu Feng has already failed the trial, but God’s Era is still moving toward him. Is this really a coincidence?”
“You suspect that God’s Era’s final power is seeking Chu Feng?”
“Yes, that’s what I think.”
“Haaa!” The old entity sighed. “Jie Tianran, it is evident that your grandson has become your inner demon.”
“But don’t you find it baffling that God’s Era is moving toward the phenomenon, of all places? How can there be such a coincidence?”
“Let’s assume that you’re right. Doesn’t that mean that everything you are doing right now is meaningless? Why squander so many treasures to continue wooing God’s Era’s final power?”
“While I have my doubts, I can’t give up just like that. I can only pray that I’m thinking too much into it.”
“Don’t overthink it. Isn’t your grandson trapped near the phenomenon right now? His barrier won’t last for much longer. Just kill him, and everything will be settled.”
The old entity’s words knocked some sense into Jie Tianran. He thought about his subordinates, but the next moment, his eyes widened in horror.
He anxiously pulled out several hundred life tokens with a wave of his sleeves. These were the life tokens of the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion’s top experts, the subordinates he had sent to the Bloodline Galaxy to curb Chu Feng.
Everything had shattered.
Jie Tianran hurriedly constructed an observation formation. He was now close enough to the Bloodline Galaxy to clearly see the situation over at the phenomenon. The phenomenon looked the same as before, though the gate seemed to be on the verge of opening.
But that was not what he was concerned about.
Much to his horror, he found not a single member from the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion in the vicinity. Instead, a huge, blood-red head floated in the middle of space, looking sinister and menacing.
He was too far away to scrutinize the details of the head, but he could already tell that it was the Netherworld Sect’s means.
“The Netherworld Sect?”
A cold glint flashed across Jie Tianran’s eyes. He could already guess what had happened.
Meanwhile, Chu Feng and the others were also surveying God’s Era’s movements with an observation formation.
The quakes reverberating through the world of cultivation were intensifying. Even with their bare eyes, they could already see God’s Era’s silhouette in the distance. It moved so fast that in just a few steps, the silhouette had grown from a distant figure into a humongous entity that towered over them.
Before God’s Era’s silhouette, the Netherworld Sect’s formation was insignificant like an ant. Even the sectmembers who had thought that they could stand face to face against Jie Tianran lost their confidence.
“Baili Xukong, where is Chu Feng?” Jie Tianran’s voice echoed from the top of God’s Era.
Despite not having grasped God’s Era’s final power, he still put on airs as if he had conquered it. His demeanor was so convincing that even Chu Feng was worried.
We won’t stand a chance at all if Jie Tianran has really grasped God’s Era’s final power.
