Chapter 6500: The One Who Ruled the Earlier Years of the Present Era

The true dragon’s fragmented consciousness was infuriated by Shangguan Fengquan’s taunts.

GRAR!

It opened its mouth wide and unleashed a devastating dragon breath, but the breath grew significantly weaker as soon as it left the perimeter of the lair. Shangguan Fengquan easily dissipated it with a wave of her hand.

“Tsk tsk. Is that all you have? Come out and have a fight with me. Or are you intimidated by me? You aren’t a true dragon at all. You’re a turtle who spends its days holed in its shell,” Shangguan Fengquan cheerily mocked the true dragon like a mischievous grandmother.

The true dragon’s fragmented consciousness was infuriated. Overwhelming killing intent gushed from the lair.

But Chu Feng was fearless. He felt absolutely safe, now that Shangguan Fengquan was protecting him.

“Lass, you’ll never obtain my power!” the true dragon’s fragmented consciousness spat before returning into the dragon lair.

As soon as the true dragon’s fragmented consciousness left, Shangguan Fengquan’s body slumped. She didn’t even have the strength to stand upright. Chu Feng’s hand quickly shot out to support her.

“Lord Sectmaster!” Sikong Changsheng rushed over with worried eyes.

Shangguan Fengquan’s soul body had become much dimmer. Even her aura was nowhere as strong as before. Despite taunting the true dragon’s fragmented consciousness, her intervention had taken a toll on her.

“It’s fine. I wouldn’t have lasted long in the first place. This treasure is barely sustaining my consciousness.” Shangguan Fengquan waved her hand nonchalantly. She turned to Chu Feng and asked, “Do you have alcohol?”

“Elder, I have top-quality Dragon Spring.” Chu Feng took out an exquisite jade bottle.

This was the Dragon Spring refined personally by Long Mucheng. It couldn’t be bought even in the Dragon Breath Spring Chamber.

But Shangguan Fengquan rolled her eyes in disdain. “Pui! I want alcohol. Alcohol! Who wants that goddamned Dragon Spring?”

“Yes, I have alcohol as well.” Chu Feng stowed away the Dragon Spring and pulled out thousands of vats, gourds, and bottles that floated around them. He opened every single one of them, allowing their aroma to waft out.

“Brat, you have quite the collection.”

Shangguan Fengquan revealed a bright smile. She first took a sniff before grabbing a nearby vat and downing its contents. It only took a few gulps for her to finish the entire vat. It was as if she were a ravenous ghost.

But that wasn’t enough to hit the sweet spot.

She downed three more vats of alcohol before wiping her mouth with a satisfied smile. These four vats were not the best alcohol in Chu Feng’s collection, be it in terms of fragrance or age. However, they shared a commonality.

They were all alcohol from the Ancestral Martial Galaxy.

“That was satisfying! There’s no better alcohol than those from home!” Shangguan Fengquan looked intoxicated. The nostalgic fragrance of the alcohol evoked old memories, reminding her of past affairs.

But Chu Feng felt bitter.

Shangguan Fengquan’s body was growing increasingly fainter. She wouldn’t last long at this rate. She could have lasted longer if she hadn’t entered the dragon lair to save him.

He knew that this was merely a fragment of her consciousness, and its dissipation wouldn’t affect her main body, but he still felt guilt-ridden.

But Shangguan Fengquan showed no displeasure whatsoever. She glanced at Eggy with her intoxicated eyes before remarking to Chu Feng, “You have a fine world spirit.”

She turned back to Eggy and asked, “Lass, what do I call you?”

“You can call me Milady Queen,” Eggy replied haughtily, albeit with a smile. She rarely smiled at others, but Shangguan Fengquan had saved Chu Feng, after all.

Shangguan Fengquan replied with a beaming smile, “What an adorable lass.”

She tossed a vat to Eggy. “Come, Milady Queen. Let’s toast to your bravery!”

Eggy glanced at the potent alcohol in the vat and frowned. She was a drinker, but she wasn’t fond of potent alcohol. Nevertheless, she still took the vat. “Thank you for saving Chu Feng.”

She downed its contents.

“The means you used earlier is impressive, but your little body won’t be able to withstand it if you unleash that power in its entirety. You’ll lose your life. Don’t you fear death?” Shangguan Fengquan asked.

“I didn’t think that much,” Eggy replied.

Shangguan Fengquan revealed a deep smile. You didn’t think that much? You think I’d believe such words?

“It’s rare to come across such a good world spirit in the world. Chu Feng, I’d say that your greatest fortuitous encounter is none other than her,” Shangguan Fengquan said.

“I think so too.”

Chu Feng had always thought that way. He took a vat as well and said, “Elder, allow me to toast you.”

“Very well.” Shangguan Fengquan raised a vat with a smile.

The two gulped down the alcohol.

Sikong Changsheng appeared to have made up his mind as well. He took a vat and said, “Lord Sectmaster, allow me to toast you as well.”

“Don’t bother. You don’t even know how to pick your alcohol. Don’t force yourself if you don’t know how to drink.” Shangguan Fengquan rolled her eyes. She turned back to Chu Feng and said, “Chu Feng, I revealed myself because of you, but you didn’t complete your mission. Do you know what I mean?”

“Yes, I understand. I’ll back down here,” Chu Feng said.

“This is a bonus opportunity. You can still obtain the legacy if you gather all the key fragments,” Shangguan Fengquan said.

“I understand.” Chu Feng nodded.

“If I’m not mistaken, you’re a member of the Enigma Sect, right?” Shangguan Fengquan asked.

“Enigma Sect? I have never joined the Enigma Sect.” Chu Feng was perplexed, for he didn’t think that someone of Shangguan Fengquan’s stature would spout nonsense. But he had never even heard about the Enigma Sect, let alone join it.

“I am too accustomed to calling it by its old name. It should be known as the Hidden Dragon Martial Sect now,” Shangguan Fengquan said.

“Was the Hidden Dragon Martial Sect known as the Enigma Sect in the earlier years of the present era?” Chu Feng asked.

“It’s a long story. It was believed that the strongest powers in the earlier years of the present era were the Ancestral Martial Galaxy’s Ancestral Martial Spiritist Sect and the Myriad Dao Sect, but in truth, the Ancestral Martial Galaxy had another mysterious sect.

“This sect rarely competed for anything, but no one was a match for them whenever they appeared. Even the Myriad Dao Sect and my Ancestral Martial Spiritist Sect shied away from conflict with them.

“On the surface, the Myriad Dao Sect was the strongest cultivator power, and our Ancestral Martial Spiritist Sect is the strongest world spiritist power, but we all know the greatest power in the world of cultivation is none other than the Enigma Sect.

“The Enigma Sect is none other than the Hidden Dragon Martial Sect, though I’m used to calling it the Enigma Sect,” Shangguan Fengquan said.

“Woah. The Hidden Dragon Martial Sect was the true ruler in the earlier years of the present era?” Eggy was astonished.

“Yes, that’s right,” Shangguan Fengquan replied affirmatively.
