Chapter 6333: Activation
“Zhuyin, I am doing this for you. Do you remember me telling you I activated the Fortuitous Bloodline Mountain for you? All preparations are in order. You mustn’t let my efforts go down in vain,” Eighth Zhao persuaded with a subservient voice.
He was afraid that his treasured daughter would turn him down.
“Are there no other ways to do it? Does Chu Feng have to do it?” Zhao Zhuyin asked.
That question made others realize that Zhao Zhuyin was not averse to taking other people’s formation energy—she wasn’t that irresolute. She didn’t want to sacrifice Chu Feng because she cared for him.
Eighth Zhao understood Zhao Zhuyin’s thoughts. Zhao Zhuyin wouldn’t hesitate to sacrifice others in her pursuit of power, but she couldn’t do the same to people whom she cared about.
Thus, Eighth Zhao turned to Chu Feng.
“There are other ways to pull it off, but I can do it the best. On top of that, I’ll benefit from the process as well. It’s two birds with one stone,” Chu Feng replied.
“How can you benefit from activating the formation when it consumes your formation energy?” Zhao Zhuyin was skeptical.
“I mean it. If you do as I say, we’ll both benefit from this,” Chu Feng replied.
“Really?” Zhao Zhuyin asked.
“Yes,” Chu Feng nodded.
“Then... how do we proceed?” Zhao Zhuyin asked.
Eighth Zhao breathed a sigh of relief. It went smoother than he had expected.
Having made up their minds, Chu Feng began helping Zhao Zhuyin with activating her formation. They used the treasures prepared by the Zhao Immortal Clan, but the specific arrangements were all decided by him. He was the master in this field.
Eighth Zhao observed by the side while using his treasure to heal Little Fishy, Wang Qiang, and Xianhai Shaoyu. He needed to keep an eye on Chu Feng in case the latter played tricks.
To his relief, the overall formation remained the same even though there were slight tweaks in the details.
Soon, the formation was complete, and Chu Feng and Zhao Zhuyin sat opposite each other in its middle.
Chu Feng placed a hand on Zhao Zhuyin’s forehead and the other on her dantian.
“Miss Zhao, remember one thing when you close your eyes later. Accept my energy and go with my flow. I won’t harm you. You need not worry about me either; this will be beneficial not just to you but to me as well. Can you do it?” Chu Feng asked.
“Mm.” Zhao Zhuyin nodded, displaying great trust in Chu Feng.
Chu Feng began channeling his energy into Zhao Zhuyin’s body.
This was a lengthy process, so much so that they remained in the same posture even after Zhao Tingxue and Zhao Cangjing had returned from grasping their respective formation energy, and Little Fishy, Xianhai Shaoyu, and Wang Qiang regained their consciousness.
The first thing Little Fishy and the others saw upon regaining consciousness was a weakened Chu Feng and a spirited Zhao Zhuyin. When they learned about what had happened, the three of them glared murderously at Eighth Zhao.
Little Fishy would have made a move on the spot if not for her parents and grandfather telling her that Chu Feng was doing it of his own volition.
But as Chu Feng grew weaker and weaker, Little Fishy couldn’t suppress the killing intent in her eyes.
Eighth Zhao was unbothered by it. He was strong enough to shrug off what Little Fishy and the others thought about him.
A while later, Eighth Zhao waved his sleeves, turning the palace walls transparent. This allowed them to see the situation outside.
There was a humongous square in the distance, and those who had grasped the formation energy were gathered there. They were divided into two sides—the present-era cultivators and the Ancient Era cultivators.
Several figures led by Zhao Cangjing descended from the sky—they were all Zhao Immortal Clansmen. Most of them were juniors, but some were slightly older than that.
“Has it begun?”
Xianhai Shaoyu and Wang Qiang looked over. Only Little Fishy kept her eyes on Chu Feng.
All three of them knew these people were in trouble.
Shortly after Zhao Cangjing landed, Zhao Daobin descended from the sky, but he stopped above the square. He gazed down loftily on the crowd as he spoke, “I am Zhao Daobin, the Zhao Immortal Clan’s enforcement elder. I don’t like to beat around the bush, so I’ll get straight to the point. The Fortuitous Bloodline Mountain was opened by our clan, so we get to decide who is entitled to the energy here. Those from the Ancient Era’s races are our guests, so feel free to take a seat.”
Elders from the Zhao Immortal Clan stepped onto the square and brought Ancient Era cultivators who had grasped the formation energy to the spectator stand.
The present-era cultivators panicked. It was blatant discrimination!
What Zhao Daobin said next further fanned their unease.
“You stole the Fortuitous Bloodline Mountain’s formation energy without our clan’s permission. That is a crime punishable by death.”
The present-era cultivators anxiously explained themselves and begged for mercy. They felt indignant as the Zhao Immortal Clan had never mentioned this at all.
But in truth, the accusers understood how wronged the accused were. The Fortuitous Bloodline Mountain was a trap laid by the Zhao Immortal Clan.
“Do you think it is right to take from a field just because its owner isn’t around? What’s done is done. I don’t want to hear your excuses. You’re fortunate that our clan chief’s friend spoke up on your behalf, so we decided to give you a chance. However, it’s up to you whether you can take advantage of the opportunity or not.
“Those who have grasped the formation energy can select any Zhao Immortal Clansman of the same cultivation level as their opponent. If you can defeat our clansmen, we’ll let you and your people go. You’ll also be able to reap the benefits of the formation when the Fortuitous Sun rises to the top of the sky. But if you fail, you’ll have to remove the formation energy from your body the way we request.”
Someone immediately asked, “Elder, is the process of removing the formation energy from our body harmful?”
Zhao Daobin smiled. “Of course.”
“May I know... how harmful it will be?” the person asked once more.
“There are some who recover with some rest, but there are also those who die on the spot. Based on our estimates, the latter is more likely,” Zhao Daobin said.
The present-era cultivators turned pale.
