Chapter 340: Chapter 190: Shaking the Vicious Beast, Lofty Aspirations

When he turned around, he found Wan Ze was also gazing at that area.

The two exchanged a look and then laughed at the same time.

"You thought of it too?" Feng Jiuchen said with a knowing smile.

Wan Ze nodded.

In the depths of that mountain range lived a terrifying entity capable of killing even Fierce Birds.

The thing’s power was, at the very least... above the Soul Condensation Realm, and perhaps even higher.

"So... this is a ready-made Guardian God," Wan Ze said.

Feng Jiuchen gave a crafty chuckle. "A behemoth like this... I reckon unless the Li Huo Sect brings out its full force, sending a few Elders with a group of Inner Sect Disciples to besiege it, they won’t be able to touch it. But the Li Huo Sect is only trying to establish an outpost, not build their main sect headquarters here. There’s no need to make such a big fuss. It’s not worth sacrificing so many lives for a piece of land."

Everyone understood the logic.

But the problem was, how could they make the Li Huo Sect wary of that terrifying entity?

You couldn’t just tell them there was something incredibly powerful over there and that they should stay away. That would only make them suspicious.

They had to let them discover it, assess it, and reach the conclusion on their own... ’This area is unsafe and unsuitable for an outpost.’

"That’s the key, and also the hard part."

Staring at the two corpses before him, a plan began to form in Feng Jiuchen’s mind.

His gaze swept over the short, skinny man and the tall, fat one a couple of times as the corners of his mouth slowly curled up.

"I think I have an idea."

"What is it?"

"First, we’ll piss off the one inside." Feng Jiuchen chuckled, then added a few more words in a low voice.

Wan Ze’s eyes lit up. "How sure are you? Do you need me to..."

"No need. You wait here and be ready for anything."

Wan Ze nodded.

Feng Jiuchen then charged alone into the depths of the mountain range.

His figure grew smaller and smaller under the Red Moon, until it was swallowed by the darkness in the blink of an eye.

Wan Ze waited at the edge of the forest, having retreated a great distance.

He was ready to sever his Spiritual Form at any moment.

Before long, the sound of shattering thunder echoed from the distance.

Wan Ze looked up.

Bolt after bolt of lightning struck down.

The flash of the exploding lightning illuminated Wan Ze’s face.

Throughout the entire forest, wild sands whipped through the air, obscuring the sky. Even the Red Moon’s glow was blotted out in that instant, leaving only chaos between heaven and earth.

The next second...

ROAR!!!!

A furious roar that seemed to erupt from the Nine Nether Abyss surged up from the depths of the earth, as if something had shaken the entire planet’s crust.

The sound made the very rocks resonate.

The ground under Wan Ze’s feet trembled. Through the soles of his feet, he could feel a power emanating from deep within the earth, like a giant beast locked in a dungeon ramming its head against the ceiling.

It was as if some terrifying entity was reawakening.

Wan Ze felt something in his chest vibrating along with the sound and glanced at the data frame...

’Holy shit!’

’I’m already so far away—at least five or six hundred meters, with several hills and a dense forest in between—but I’m still being affected by this roar.’ ’My attribute value is starting to decline. The numbers in the data frame are dropping.’

"Damn it!" Wan Ze cursed, scrambling further back.

But he didn’t sever his Spiritual Form.

He was waiting.

Fortunately, just then, Feng Jiuchen frantically fled from mid-air with the help of a Talisman.

His figure shot out from the swirling dust, as fast as a bolt of lightning. The Talisman under his feet lit up layer by layer, each one boosting his speed.

In the midst of the storm, several tears had appeared on Feng Jiuchen’s clothes. His hair was a mess, his face was covered in ash, and he looked like a refugee who had just escaped a raging fire.

"Go, go, go! We split up! Wait for my signal!"

Feng Jiuchen roared, his voice wavering in the wind.

His figure changed direction in mid-air. He activated a Technique Seal, transforming into a rolling ball of lightning and fleeing in another direction.

His speed was astonishing, leaving a long tail of light under the Red Moon, like a meteor flying in reverse.

From within the mountain range, countless vines burst from the ground, chasing after Feng Jiuchen.

The vines were dark in color and covered in barbs, like demonic tongues lashing out from the depths of hell.

They slithered across the ground at extreme speed. Wherever they passed, rocks were crushed, trees were snapped, and deep gouges were left in the earth.

Wan Ze was shaken to his core.

The last thing he saw was the two corpses from the Li Huo Sect falling from mid-air.

They were instantly pierced by the vines. The vines went in through their chests and out through their backs, like giant needles pinning two scraps of fabric to a board.

Then the vines retracted, dragging the two corpses back into the depths of the mountains and disappearing into the darkness where the Red Moon could not reach.

Feng Jiuchen’s figure became a black dot, disappearing over the horizon in the blink of an eye.

At this, Wan Ze severed his Spiritual Form and promptly withdrew.

His consciousness withdrew from the Huangliang.

HUMMM!

The void trembled.

Wan Ze steadied himself.

His consciousness instantly returned to his physical body. The sensation was like suddenly surfacing from deep water; his eardrums were ringing, and the world before his eyes was blurry at first before slowly coming into focus.

’The ceiling, the pendant light... Everything is exactly as it was when I left.’

Wan Ze gasped for air, his chest heaving violently. His heart was pounding, not out of fear, but because the adrenaline hadn’t completely faded yet.

The euphoria from having walked the line between life and death was still surging through his veins.

"Brother Feng really is a badass," Wan Ze murmured to himself with a soft chuckle.

’Feng Jiuchen went in all by himself, with no cover and no backup. He just charged right in.’
