Chapter 336: Chapter 189: Murder and Arson! Obtaining the Qi Refining Technique
Even Feng Jiuchen couldn’t help but marvel.
He had been tied up with the tall, fat man, with no time to pay attention to the battle a hundred meters away. He hadn’t seen how Wan Ze fought the short, skinny man.
But now, with the bisected corpse slumped at the tall, fat man’s feet, its head thrown back, eyes wide and bulging, mouth agape... Feng Jiuchen knew he had underestimated this Brother Wan.
’What a monster,’
Feng Jiuchen thought. He withdrew his gaze and looked Wan Ze up and down several times.
He clearly couldn’t sense much Qi on Wan Ze’s body.
Even the last time Wan Ze had used his sword to kill that Puppet Yin Sect Cultivator, he hadn’t perceived any fluctuation of Qi in Wan Ze’s body.
He had always thought Wan Ze’s Swordsmanship was decent and that was it—that at most, he could condense a sliver of Qi for marking a target.
Now, it seemed this young brother of his probably had a unique constitution.
But the world of Huangliang was vast and full of wonders. Some people were naturally suited for cultivating certain Techniques, and some could unleash extraordinary Power without needing much Qi.
Perhaps his brother was one of those people.
In that same instant, Feng Jiuchen seized the opening while the tall, fat man was still stunned.
The fat man’s gaze was still fixed on the bisected corpse at his feet, the shock in his eyes yet to fade. His hands were still held in the position of forming a Seal, but his fingers had gone slack. The lines of the Dharma Seal flickered at his fingertips before dimming.
Then, Feng Jiuchen moved.
His fingers blurred inside his sleeves, his ten digits flying so fast they left afterimages.
A Qimen Seal abruptly unfurled beneath his feet. On the ground, layer after layer of Talismans lit up in quick succession.
The next second, Flying Sand and Stones stirred as a fierce wind erupted. The rubble and dirt swept into the air froze for a moment, then, at Feng Jiuchen’s command, transformed into countless flying arrows that shot toward the tall, fat man.
Each arrow spiraled through the air, letting out a sharp, soul-shaking whistle as it cut through the sky.
"You’re courting death!"
The tall, fat man roared, snapping back to his senses.
He shoved his hands out from his chest, fingers spread and palms facing outward. Grayish-brown light flared to life along both of his arms.
This light converged, interwove, and overlapped in front of him, forming a Light Shield shaped like an overturned bowl that completely enveloped him.
The patterns on the shield’s surface swirled madly, layer upon layer.
CLINK! CLANK! The sounds of impact rang out.
The arrows struck the Light Shield with the crisp sound of metal on metal. Each one exploded on impact, turning into a puff of dust.
Feng Jiuchen’s attack was blocked?!
The arrows shattered against the Light Shield one after another, leaving no mark save for the ripples they sent across its grayish-brown glow.
Seeing this, the tall, fat man’s lips curled into a sneer. "Is that all you’ve got? It seems a puny Demon Cultivator like you isn’t much to write home about."
The fat man’s voice wasn’t loud, but every word dripped with condescension. The bit of caution he had felt moments before had vanished completely.
’If this is the extent of Feng Jiuchen’s power, then he...’
Suddenly, the tall, fat man let out a muffled grunt.
His entire body went rigid. The sneer froze on his lips, replaced by an expression of agony before he could retract it.
POP! POP! The clothes on his body exploded, shreds of fabric flying everywhere, like a cocoon being torn open from the inside.
The scraps of cloth fluttered away on the wind, revealing his upper body.
Dharma Seals were inscribed on both of the fat man’s arms. The lines of these two seals were complex and their color was dark, as if they had been tattooed with some special kind of ink.
At this moment, both Dharma Seals were glowing, but their light flickered erratically, as if about to be extinguished.
"You!" The tall, fat man was in disbelief.
His arms trembled uncontrollably, his muscles spasming.
He looked down at the Dharma Seals on his arms. It had taken him a very long time to brand them onto his skin.
These Dharma Seals had been passed down from his master’s arm. He had thought them indestructible, but now they were shattering, line by line.
’But I clearly blocked Feng Jiuchen’s Talismanic Magic!’
’The arrows all hit the Light Shield! They all turned to dust! Not a single one broke through my defense!’
’So why am I injured?’
’Why are the Dharma Seals breaking?’
’Where the hell did that Power come from?’
A thought suddenly flashed through the tall, fat man’s mind...
’Feng Jiuchen’s attack wasn’t the arrows at all.’
’The arrows were just a feint. The real attack was hidden behind them, hidden... in the dust they turned into!’
’That dust landed on my Light Shield and then seeped through!’
’Damn it!’
’Such a cunning Demon Cultivator!’
’I won’t accept this!’
"If you’ve got the guts, fight me fair and square! Come on!" the fat man roared.
Feng Jiuchen remained silent. His lips moved rapidly, chanting segment after segment of a Spell. He swiftly raised his hands before his chest, interlocking ten fingers, pressing his thumbs together, and extending his index fingers upward to form a complex Hand Seal.
A pinpoint of golden light gathered at the center of the Hand Seal. It grew brighter and more dazzling, like a miniature sun taking shape.
"By mystic flame and silent heart! By Supreme Decree, I borrow the power of Heaven and Earth! Five elements, invert! Yin and Yang, reverse your course... Swiftly, as the edict commands!"
The sound of the Spell echoed through the air, each syllable filled with an eerie power.
Something surged in the air, lying in wait, searching for an outlet.
The tall, fat man’s body suddenly froze.
It wasn’t that he wanted to stop; something was holding him in place.
He couldn’t move his feet. Then his knees, his waist, his hands, and finally, his neck.
