Chapter 334: Chapter 188: A Qi Refiner? Is That All
’With his opponent’s Sword Intent this abundant, Wan Ze is probably no match for him.’
Without a moment’s hesitation, Feng Jiuchen slapped his belt. A streak of light shot out from it, rocketing in the direction the short, thin man was chasing.
The streak of light was astonishingly fast, leaving a long trail in the air like a shooting star flying in reverse.
This Talisman was one of Feng Jiuchen’s trump cards. It had taken him a year to create, consuming a massive amount of his Qi and Heart Power.
The Talisman Paper unfurled mid-air, its Runes glowing with a blinding golden light. It was like a small sun exploding in the night sky. Wherever the golden light reached, the very air grew viscous.
BANG!
The Talisman Paper exploded in mid-air, erupting into a ball of fire.
But before the flames could even take shape, an invisible barrier descended from the void. It was like an unseen wall, blocking the talisman’s path.
The talisman’s light slammed into the barrier. The golden light shattered, the Runes flickered a few times, and then faded.
The tall, fat man had intercepted it.
He stood his ground, lowering his hand. "Years ago, you Demon Cultivators murdered an Elder of my Li Huo Sect to steal the Cloud Treasure Talisman," he said coldly. "You have a heavy blood debt to pay. Today, I’ll cut you down and finally give my martial uncle’s spirit some peace!"
"Let’s not even discuss whether or not my Talismanic Magic comes from the Cloud Treasure Talisman." Feng Jiuchen spoke slowly, his hands sliding out from his sleeves. His palms faced outward as his fingers flew into a Seal—thumbs pressing the base of his ring fingers, middle and index fingers extended straight, little fingers slightly curled. His voice turned cold. "As for how your Li Huo Sect obtained the Cloud Treasure Talisman... you don’t have the faintest idea, do you?"
As he spoke, he positioned his hands before his chest—left palm up, right palm down—and crossed them. Qi surged frantically at his fingertips.
Lifting his head, Feng Jiuchen gave a mocking smile. "A talisman you obtained by slaughtering an entire sect, by wiping out every last member. You... dare to call yourselves righteous?"
The instant his words fell, the ground began to tremble violently, as if something had been roused from a deep slumber and was now forcing its way up through the earth and rock.
Cracks spiderwebbed out from under Feng Jiuchen’s feet, spreading in every direction for thirty meters.
The entire thirty-meter patch of earth was suddenly ripped upward. Its edges remained attached to the ground, but its center was already rising into the air.
All of it—the dirt, boulders, gravel, and dead branches—was lifted by an invisible force, rising to form a massive curtain that blotted out half the sky.
The tall, fat man’s expression shifted, but his composure returned in an instant. He shot forward, moving more than twice as fast as before. The rock beneath his feet shattered, spraying debris in all directions.
A series of sharp CRACKS from air-blasts exploded in his wake. Flying Sand and Stones filled the air, obscuring the sky and sun.
A sharp glint flashed in the tall, fat man’s eyes. Far from retreating, he shot forward.
His body twisted unnaturally in mid-air, leaving a series of sharp CRACKS in his wake as he carved a zig-zagging trajectory. In the blink of an eye, he was right in front of Feng Jiuchen.
His coarse, fleshy face was plastered with a mocking smile, the kind that made you want to smash your fist into it.
"Here in Huangliang, it’s the law of the jungle. Don’t you get it? Who’s here to talk about righteous and evil paths? Who’s here to debate right and wrong? Might makes right, and survival is the only law that matters. You people just don’t get it, and that’s why you die so fast."
Feng Jiuchen paid him no mind. His lips moved rapidly, reciting line after line of a Spell. The words were impossible to make out, but the power surging from beneath the ground could be felt growing ever more violent. "Primordial lord of Heaven and Earth, root of all ten thousand Qi. Through a billion kalpas I have cultivated, to prove my Divine Abilities. Within and without the Three Realms, the Dao alone reigns supreme. A golden light adorns my body, to shelter and reflect upon my form..."
He snapped his head up, and lightning flashed in his eyes.
"...Thunder Department’s True God, heed my call!"
The instant the final syllable fell, the world itself changed color.
BOOM!
A hundred meters away, Wan Ze heard an earth-shattering BOOM and turned to look back.
Lightning exploded around Feng Jiuchen. Countless serpents of electricity burst from the void and coiled around his body. The crackle of thunder was deafening, as if a Thunder Dragon sealed for a millennium had finally broken its chains.
With every thunderclap, blinding flashes of lightning illuminated the entire mountainside.
In that moment, Feng Jiuchen looked like the legendary Thunder God himself, descended to the mortal realm.
A fierce gale swept outward from him, powerful enough to lift boulders weighing hundreds of pounds.
Wan Ze’s pupils contracted.
’So this is a Qi Refiner from Huangliang?’
’Flying Sand and Stones, summoning wind and calling down lightning... with a mere flick of the wrist, they could reshape the world.’
’This kind of Power... it was beyond anything the Martial Dao could achieve.’
’No matter how strong the Martial Dao became, it was still just the Power of the physical body. A punch, a kick, the slice of a blade—all of it fell within the scope of human capability.’
’The Power of a Qi Refiner, however, had already transcended the mortal realm, entering another dimension entirely.’
’Thank goodness this wasn’t reality. Otherwise, the Martial Dao would be rendered completely meaningless.’
’No Martial Artist could face such mysterious, supernatural abilities and hope to escape unscathed.’
’You wouldn’t even be able to touch them before a bolt of lightning struck you dead.’
Just then, a blast of wind erupted behind him.
The short, thin man had caught up.
Qi flooded from his fingertips into his longsword. The blade erupted in a golden glow, then shot from his grasp, transforming into a golden streak that flew toward Wan Ze with a piercing shriek!
’So these are the techniques of a Sword Cultivator from Huangliang?’
A flicker of surprise flashed in Wan Ze’s eyes.
He had seen the Female Sword Immortal in action, but that was on another level entirely.
