Chapter 317: Chapter 183: The Martial World Isn’t Just About Fighting and Killing, But Are You Worthy of My Respect?

A moment later, the roar of an engine came from outside the manor.

Two beams of light pierced the night fog, flooding the hall in a brilliant white.

The car doors opened, and Zhai Yu and Zhai Jia stepped out, one after the other.

Zhai Yu took the lead, his pace swift. The hem of his overcoat billowed in the night wind as his eyes swept across the room from the moment he stepped into the hall.

Zhai Jia followed behind him, his gaze sweeping past Su Heng’s body before landing on Tian Guipu.

"Holy crap! They’re all dead?"

Once the reality set in, Zhai Jia’s eyes widened, and his jaw nearly hit the floor.

He strode over to Tian Guipu’s body in a few quick steps, crouched down, and lifted one of Tian Guipu’s eyelids. After checking the artery in his neck, he looked up at Wan Ze. "All of them?"

He asked again, his voice an octave higher than before.

Wan Ze shook his head and jutted his chin toward a corner. "There are still two left."

Zhai Jia followed his gaze and saw Xiao Yunkai and Zhou Hai.

The two men were huddled in the corner. One was pale and shivering uncontrollably, while the other leaned against the wall with his eyes closed, though he was trembling all the same.

"I’d like to hear my two Senior Brothers’ opinions on how to handle this," Wan Ze said, his voice calm. "After all, I’m the one who caused this mess. If the dojo doesn’t want to get involved, I’ll deal with it myself."

"Are you kidding me?!"

Zhai Jia shot to his feet, walked over to Wan Ze, and pulled him aside. He lowered his voice and said irritably, "What do you mean, ’your’ mess versus the ’dojo’s’? Even if the Divine Martial Society doesn’t come after you for this, there’s no way we at Dragon Eagle would just sit back and do nothing! You’re a disciple of Dragon Eagle. Your business is the dojo’s business. There’s nothing to discuss! I’m telling you, don’t be a damn fool!"

Wan Ze asked again, "I killed three of their Inner Sect Disciples. Next... won’t the Divine Martial Society declare war?"

He briefly explained the matter with Sun Weilong.

As Zhai Jia processed this, he let out a cold, contemptuous laugh—a contempt not directed at Wan Ze. "The Divine Martial Society has to have the guts to declare war first. Think about it. Why did they sneak into the Holy City? Why not go through official channels? Why didn’t they give Dragon Eagle a heads-up before coming?"

As he spoke, Zhai Jia picked up a shattered piece of marble from the floor, weighed it in his hand, and then tossed it aside. "Because they’re in the wrong. In that whole affair with Sun Weilong, the Divine Martial Society was the one who broke the rules first. Fights are decided by fists; when you lose, you accept it. They refused to accept it and even tried to sling mud at Dragon Eagle. If this gets out, they’ll be the ones losing face, not us."

Wan Ze nodded.

’I actually considered it,’ he thought. ’If things truly reached an unavoidable point, I would have asked my two Senior Brothers to take care of my family.’

Killing people certainly created a troublesome aftermath.

But he had no regrets.

’If you can’t practice the Martial Dao freely, then what’s the point of practicing at all?’

"But still, you’re one hell of a kid. To think you quietly took out a guy like Tian Guipu. He’s one of the representative figures of the Divine Martial Society’s younger generation, a big name in the Jiangnan Martial Dao Circle. With this one move, you’ve sent a shockwave through the entire Jiangnan Martial Dao Circle." Zhai Jia’s tone suddenly shifted from serious to a wide grin.

He reached out and patted Wan Ze’s shoulder, the force neither too light nor too heavy.

Wan Ze’s arm had just clashed head-on with Tian Guipu’s and hadn’t recovered yet.

His entire arm, from shoulder to fingertip, was in a state of sore, numb, throbbing pain. The muscles were spasming faintly, and a fiery ache shot through it, as if it had been filled with chili water.

When Zhai Jia suddenly slapped it, that searing, tingling sensation exploded from his shoulder all the way to his fingertips.

"HISS!"

Wan Ze sucked in a sharp breath of cold air, his body instinctively flinching to the side. His right arm hung limply, fingers curling slightly, and for a moment he didn’t dare to tense it.

Zhai Jia froze for a second, then looked down at Wan Ze’s arm. He hurriedly and carefully began to examine it, and his face changed when he saw the gruesome state it was in.

"Seriously, man!" Zhai Jia’s scalp tingled. "How can you endure so much? Go get this treated first! If this injury leaves a permanent problem, it’ll affect your training in the future!"

"I thought it wasn’t a big deal," Wan Ze said after a pause, wiggling his fingers. The tingling numbness was still there, but it was a little better than before.

He had rarely been injured in the past, so he had an almost blind faith in his body’s ability to recover.

Besides, in his eyes, it was just a flesh wound. No broken bones, no torn ligaments. He figured he could just go home, soak in a medicinal bath, and sleep it off.

"Not a big deal, my ass!" Zhai Jia swore, not out of real anger, but out of a helpless frustration with Wan Ze.

’Getting hurt and not saying a word! Does he really think he’s made of steel?!’

He walked over quickly and turned to Zhai Yu. "Brother, I’m going to take Ah Ze back to get this treated."

Zhai Yu nodded, his gaze sweeping over Xiao Yunkai and Zhou Hai.

The moment his eyes fell on them, the two men’s bodies tensed involuntarily. Zhai Yu was a true Refining Force Expert, and the pressure he exuded was far more intense than what they had felt from Tian Guipu.

"I’ll take these two back with me." Zhai Yu walked over, grabbed Xiao Yunkai and Zhou Hai by the scruff of their necks—one in each hand—and lifted them as if they were two little chicks. Their combined weight of nearly three hundred pounds seemed ridiculously light in his hands.

Xiao Yunkai let out a muffled grunt as he was lifted, but he didn’t dare struggle.

Zhou Hai, on the other hand, seemed to want to say something. His mouth opened, but a single glance from Zhai Yu made him snap it shut obediently.

"I’ll leave the scene for you to clean up. You don’t need to worry about what comes next."

Before he left, Zhai Yu glanced at Tie Qingyang and his son.

Tie Qingyang nodded repeatedly. He and Tie Feiyang stood to the side, watching as Zhai Yu carried the two men out of the hall and vanished into the night.
