Martial Arts Overlord
Chapter 1253 - 1250: Sea Guard General, Shadow Poison Elder
Luo Feng and the other two entered Azure Sky City and headed directly to the Crown Prince’s mansion.
Passing through a commercial district, the street gradually widened, enough to accommodate dozens of wild horses running side by side. The buildings on both sides were very tall, imposing, and extremely luxurious, with brick walls seemingly made of gold, indicating that the residents here were either rich or noble.
"The Crown Prince’s mansion is just ahead." After turning a few streets and crossing a jade stone arch bridge, Elder Hai suddenly spoke.
Luo Feng raised his eyes and looked ahead. In his view, there was a courtyard at the end of the street, with a wall over four meters high. In front of the vermilion gate, there were two three-meter-high Kylin sculptures, magnificent and grand.
Rows of armored guards stood on the street of the courtyard, surrounding the entire Crown Prince’s mansion, leaving no gaps. Each held powerful bows and crossbows, and would shout loudly with murderous intent as soon as anyone got close.
Under the perception of Soul Power, Luo Feng discovered that in addition to these guards, there were many powerful presences hidden nearby.
"It seems hard to get inside." Luo Feng said. The three of them could fight their way in, but it would certainly cause a big commotion and even entail certain risks.
The bows and crossbows these guards held were shaped like flying tigers, with arrows shooting out from the mouths of the tigers. These were not ordinary bows and crossbows, but Flying Tiger Yuan Gang Crossbows.
Flying Tiger Yuan Gang Crossbows consume Yuan Stones, allowing them to shoot Yuan Gang arrows with incredible piercing power. Under a shower of arrows, their power cannot be ignored even by Martial Artists in the True Yuan Realm. Moreover, there were other experts lurking nearby.
Jiang Fengfeng’s bright eyes flashed with a cold light, scoffing, "Why bother with so much trouble? Let’s just fight our way in. Let’s see who can stop us."
Elder Hai shook his head, "No. Right now, it’s the period of mourning for the late king. Making too much noise would be disrespectful to the old king and disadvantageous for the Crown Prince. We’ll go in under the cover of night."
"Such a bother."
Jiang Fengfeng pouted her red lips but had no intention of making a move.
"Let’s go. We’ll find an inn to stay at first and get something to eat. We’ll go in at night."
Luo Feng turned and headed in another direction.
Along the way, Luo Feng asked Elder Hai, "Elder Hai, are there any experts in the Crown Prince’s mansion?"
Elder Hai replied, "With the king’s death, the entire Water Cloud Army in Azure Sky City is under the Crown Prince’s command. The ten captains of the Water Cloud Army are all top-notch experts in the Spiritual Rotation Realm, with two of them being Martial Artists in the first level of the True Yuan Realm. Besides them, there are the experts the Crown Prince has recruited from the rtiad over the years. I don’t know who they are, but most Martial Artists in the True Yuan Realm look down on royal authority. Only in rare cases, like the Black Wind Four Ghosts who were forced into hiding by their enemies, might we face strong opponents."
Jiang Fengfeng toyed with a strand of her blue hair, saying, "Then the Crown Prince’s mansion doesn’t really have any experts."
Elder Hai said, "No. If we are to kill the Crown Prince, there’s one person we must be wary of."
Luo Feng raised his eyebrow, "Who?"
"Sea Guard General Wei Chihuo!"
Elder Hai took a deep breath and continued, "Wei Chihuo was appointed the Sea Guard General by the old king himself, tasked with defending Azure Sky City, and is a top-notch expert in the third level of the True Yuan Realm. Strictly speaking, he’s not part of the Crown Prince’s mansion. But he doesn’t adapt easily and has only the old king in his heart. Since the Crown Prince was appointed by the king, if an attempt were made on the Crown Prince’s life, he certainly wouldn’t sit by idly."
"Foolish loyalty."
Jiang Fengfeng’s delicate nose lightly snorted.
Luo Feng didn’t say anything; everyone has their own principles of conduct, sometimes unrelated to the right or wrong of the matter itself.
At this point, the three arrived at an inn, stepped through the inn door, and asked the waiter to prepare three upper rooms, waiting quietly for night to fall.
Crown Prince’s mansion.
In a delicate garden, flowers bloomed profusely in brilliant colors, especially a patch of fiery red flowers that from a distance, looked like a blazing fire, vibrant and striking.
In a pavilion in the center of the garden, there were several figures. The well-dressed youth sitting there was the Crown Prince, with Elder Li standing beside him.
Across from them stood an elder in a black robe, short and thin, with narrow eyes and a sharp nose. His gaze was sinister, exuding a dangerous aura. Another person present was the guard captain, whom Luo Feng and his group encountered when entering the city.
"Elder Hai is still alive? Could the Black Wind Four Ghosts have failed?" Elder Li frowned slightly, showing great surprise at the news brought by the guard captain.
Bang!
The Crown Prince slammed a palm into the table, shattering the porcelain cup, his cold eyes filled with disdain as he said in a somber tone, "Raising troops for a thousand days to use them for one moment, but my years of spending so many Yuan Stones raising these four failures have come to naught!"
Elder Li looked pensive and asked the guard captain, "You mentioned two people accompanied Elder Hai back to Azure Sky City. Do you know their identities?"
The guard captain shook his head, "No idea. They are a young man and a young woman, both seemingly under eighteen. The boy wore a mask and appeared somewhat frail, not resembling any expert. The girl wielded a silver sword and was quite beautiful. I’ve never seen her before, and couldn’t discern her cultivation. Perhaps she’s a lady or gentleman from some noble family."
Elder Li stroked his chin, "Who could those two be..."
"No matter who they are, they’ll turn into corpses tonight."
A cold laugh rang out as the short elder stepped forward, chuckling, "Let me make the trip. Tonight, I’ll certainly bring back their heads."
The Crown Prince was in a foul mood, hearing this, he scoffed, "Elder Hai is a Martial Artist at the early second level of True Yuan Realm, and even the Black Wind Four Ghosts couldn’t successfully kill him. Shadow Poison Elder, what can you accomplish with only your mere nine rotations in the Spiritual Realm?"
The short elder’s face briefly stiffened, his voice hoarse, "Killing doesn’t always require the strongest martial force..."
Swish!
Before the words fell, the short martial artist waved his black robe, enveloping the nearby guard captain in a cloud of black mist.
"Watch out!"
Elder Li’s face changed, he released Protective Gang Energy, enveloping the Crown Prince within it.
Black wind swept through the pavilion, causing a whole section of flower beds to wither instantly.
"Ah... ah... ah..."
The guard captain’s face turned dark, blood flowed from his seven orifices, his whole face twisted gruesomely as his fingers desperately clawed at his throat as if trying to pull something out, even as his flesh turned bloody and was torn apart.
Splurt!
Suddenly, a stream of blood spurted out, and the guard captain collapsed backward, dead, with a large hole in his throat.
"Shadow Poison Elder, what... what are you doing?"
The Crown Prince was terrified, his face pale as he retreated continuously.
The short elder gave a sinister smile, "Even a martial artist of the early second level of True Yuan Realm would be doomed if poisoned by me."
At this point, Elder Li spoke up, "Then I’ll leave this matter to you. If you can kill those three, the Crown Prince will surely reward you handsomely. When the Crown Prince ascends to power, he’ll appoint you a King Marquis."
The short elder showed a gruesome grin, "I’ll bring back their heads."
With that, a breeze passed through, and the short elder vanished without a trace.
