Martial Arts: I Have Diligence Reward System

Chapter 1149 - 381: Senior Sister Mu Cheng’s Role

It was all Bai Xiaolong’s fault. That animal had ruined his reputation.

Bai Xiaolong hadn’t hesitated, either. He slammed on the gas, whipped the car around in a U-turn, and in the blink of an eye, the sports car was already speeding toward the end of the road.

VROOM!

A minute later, the roar of an engine sounded from behind. Bai Xiaolong looked back. Feng Jiajia’s sports car had already shot far ahead, moving like a bolt of red lightning; he couldn’t even see her exhaust fumes.

"Chase her! Isn’t this car of yours supposed to be a hot hatch?" Meng Yang slapped the car door in frustration. Eating someone’s dust was never a good feeling.

"This *is* a hot hatch, but her car is god-tier! It’s a freaking laser rocket! I’m doing my best here!" Bai Xiaolong was just as frantic. He had the pedal floored, so why did it feel like they were crawling? It was maddening.

"A piece of trash driving a snail. Damn it," Meng Yang cursed in despair. They were never going to catch her. They couldn’t even smell her exhaust fumes anymore.

Nandu City.

"Past this intersection is the Nanwu Gate. I’ve got things to do, so I’ll be taking off.

"If Mu Cheng really does get snatched away, remember to come find me, alright?"

Before Su Yue got out of the car, Feng Jiajia took off her sunglasses and gave him a suggestive raise of her eyebrows.

"Big Sis, I’m nowhere near worthy of a goddess like you.

"But thank you for going out of your way to drop me off."

After stepping out of the vehicle, Su Yue quickly expressed his gratitude.

"Don’t mention it!" With a tap on the gas, Feng Jiajia whipped the car around and sped off.

"How can a car look that cool!" Su Yue exclaimed. Watching the sports car’s retreating silhouette, he felt like he was looking at a roaring behemoth.

Suddenly, Su Yue remembered Yang Lezhi. No matter how cool a sports car was, it would become a pile of useless scrap metal within minutes in the Wet Realm. But Yang Lezhi’s motorcycle was different. Trailing black smoke, it could actually fly through the air. He wondered when he would be able to get his hands on one of those to play around with.

Feeling a bit depressed, Su Yue used a movement technique and flickered into existence right at the entrance to the Nanwu Gate.

Perhaps because of the Evil Spirit Broken Bridge, Nanwu had become a gathering place for Wuda students from all over the country. The Ministry of Education had promised that once the Evil Spirit Broken Bridge was truly ready for use, it would be opened to all Wuda. Even though there were still some technical issues to iron out, many Wuda students were unable to contain their excitement and had arrived early just to catch a glimpse of the Evil Spirit Broken Bridge in all its glory.

Rumor had it that this bridge had once been a treasured artifact of the Daoist sect.

"Right, the baseball cap and mask. What a hassle!"

Students were coming and going constantly at the Nanwu Gate. Because Su Yue had changed his hairstyle and was walking with his head down, no one had noticed him yet. He quickly pulled out his baseball cap and mask, putting them on. Now, no one would recognize him.

Hiding his face like this made him feel exactly like some pop idol dodging the paparazzi after making their big debut.

"What are Bai Xiaolong and Meng Yang dawdling for? They need to hurry up and get to Nanwu," Su Yue muttered. He glanced down to the end of the road, but there wasn’t a single soul in sight. Calling himself "Bai Mach" was nothing but pure boasting.

The Nanwu Campus was massive, at least twice the size of West Martial. In terms of overall student strength, Nanwu was ranked at the very bottom among the Four Great Martial Arts Academies. But when it came to campus size, Nanwu absolutely crushed every other Wuda. Even East Martial and West Martial combined couldn’t rival it.

When training a Martial Artist, Nanwu specialized in the agility attribute. People used to joke that the only reason Nanwu students were so fast was because the campus was so ridiculously large; they had quite literally run themselves into becoming agility specialists.

The campus grounds really were enormous. Even with the constant flow of people, it didn’t feel crowded in the slightest.

SMACK!

Someone suddenly clapped Su Yue on the shoulder. The person was incredibly fast, like a sudden gust of wind. Although Su Yue had been on alert, there were too many people around him, preventing him from dodging in time. This was the restriction of being in a city on Earth. If this had been the Wet Realm, Su Yue would have dodged at all costs—whoever happened to be next to him be damned. His own life was what mattered most. But in the city, that wouldn’t fly. He had to follow the rules.

"Zhou Yuncan?" Su Yue said in surprise as he turned his head. It had been a long time since he had last seen this guy.

Because he was a specialist at running away, Zhou Yuncan had applied to Nanwu after the college entrance exams. The last time they had seen each other was back when they were going undercover at Zhiwu.

"It really is you! I thought your back looked familiar," Zhou Yuncan said, his face lighting up with pleasant surprise. Now that he thought about it, it had been a long time since he had last seen Su Yue as well.

Among their original group from the Potential Class, Gong Ling and Liao Ping had already become pillars of the Ministry of Education. Having slain Grandmasters on the battlefield multiple times, they were widely recognized as unparalleled prodigies of their generation. And Su Yue went without saying—he was already a living myth among the Wuda.

However, he and Liao Ji had fared much worse. Their aptitudes might have been considered top-tier in a small city, but once thrown into a Wuda, they were merely average. Even though they had been cultivating with all their might, they were still being left further and further behind by their friends.

"Shh. I promised Bai Xiaolong that I’d keep my identity hidden. Let’s walk and talk," Su Yue whispered hurriedly upon noticing a few people glancing their way. He then grabbed Zhou Yuncan by the arm and pulled him off to the side.

"Why are you acting so suspiciously?" Zhou Yuncan asked, looking bewildered. It wasn’t like Su Yue was here to go undercover again. What was wrong with just walking around in broad daylight?

The thought of going undercover brought a wave of bitterness to Zhou Yuncan’s heart. Thinking back to the past, Wang Lu Feng and Su Yue had both been his partners. But in the blink of an eye, Wang Lu Feng had also made it into the Research Institute, while he was still stuck cultivating at Nanwu.

Granted, he had managed to break through to Rank-Two purely by relying on a reckless, death-defying drive. But the current Wuda had long since entered the era of Rank-Three freshmen. Had it been last year, Zhou Yuncan would have been considered an absolutely outstanding genius. But this year, a Rank-Two freshman was really nothing special.

A while ago, Liao Ji had invited him out to have a meal with Liao Ping and the others. As long as he could break through to Rank-Three during his freshman year, there was still a chance he could go to the Research Institute as a backup. Liao Ji had also pushed himself to the absolute limit to reach Rank-Two, and both of them were now working tirelessly. But the chances of success were slim.

"You’ve reached Rank-Two. That’s not bad at all," Su Yue commented.
