Chapter 6: Chapter 6: Thread Qi and Significant Change

He glanced to the side, only to see the fragment suddenly disappear as if it had been completely absorbed into Qingyu’s body.

The snake’s scales began to crack, then fell away like dry leaves dropping from a tree branch.

Ye Xuan narrowed his eyes. Through the cracks in her scales, he could clearly see a shimmering red color beneath them.

[Warning! The seal has been damaged.]

[Seal remaining: 90%]

A system panel appeared in front of Ye Xuan, clearly showing that the seal inside Qingyu’s body had decreased from 99% to 90%.

That was a significant change.

Ye Xuan was certain the fragment was responsible. The mysterious power contained within it seemed to have weakened the seal inside Qingyu’s body.

But was that a good thing?

If the seal was meant to suppress Qingyu’s true power, then shouldn’t it be destroyed?

Or perhaps the person who placed the seal on Qingyu wanted to keep the snake’s power sealed no matter what.

Did that person consider Qingyu a threat?

Everything about her was mysterious, filled with confusing questions.

However, Ye Xuan still had to be careful.

As the master of the white snake, Ye Xuan had to understand her better than anyone else.

The red qi aura around Qingyu’s body gradually faded away.

She returned to Ye Xuan’s neck and remained there without showing any unusual behavior.

Ye Xuan decided to put Qingyu’s identity aside for now and instead looked at the black pouch floating in front of him.

Inside were 100 Heavenly Lightning-Flame Essences.

He took one out.

It looked like a flat diamond, mostly red in color, with streaks of lightning flickering around it.

What is this essence used for? From its name and appearance, it seems to contain heavenly lightning and flames.

Is it dangerous? Using something I don’t understand could get me killed... but it could also bring me incredible power.

After thinking for quite some time, Ye Xuan decided not to use it.

The less he knew about it, the more uneasy he became.

If he used its power and it ended up turning against him, Ye Xuan would have no chance of protecting himself with his current 11th Layer Qi Gathering cultivation.

He waved his hand and placed the black pouch containing the essences into his bag of holding before standing up.

Ye Xuan explained to Qingyu that he was going to look for shops that sold battle technique scrolls.

At the very least, he needed two more techniques to complete his offensive options.

Qingyu did not respond, only giving a brief hiss.

Ye Xuan left his room and began visiting several shops.

He did exactly what he had done before, asking each shop about their best battle techniques. If their techniques did not suit him, Ye Xuan simply moved on to another shop.

After an hour of searching, he finally managed to obtain two Mortal-stage battle techniques.

The first was Wind Qi Sword, while the second was Qi Palm.

After returning to his room at the inn, Ye Xuan sat on the bed and crossed his legs.

With a wave of his hand, he summoned the two technique scrolls in front of him—the battle techniques he had purchased earlier that afternoon.

First, he studied Wind Qi Sword and allowed the essence of the technique stored inside the scroll to be absorbed into his body through his forehead.

Ye Xuan closed his eyes, allowing his consciousness to study and understand the essence of the battle technique.

By the time the sun had set, he had finally mastered the battle technique completely.

A wave of qi spread throughout the room as he successfully mastered the technique. The technique scroll also faded into particles of qi that floated through the air after being completely used up.

My comprehension ability has improved. It’s as if the essence of the technique resonates perfectly with my consciousness.

He could finally cultivate normally, and his comprehension had improved dramatically as well.

Before meeting Qingyu, he had struggled with both.

That obvious change made him curious about something else he had once studied but failed to master.

I can cultivate normally, and I can understand techniques much faster. Should I try using qi threads?

He drew his sword and dropped it onto the floor, startling Qingyu.

Both of Ye Xuan’s hands formed a seal as he carefully practiced according to what he had learned before.

Previously, he had failed to create qi threads because his qi was too unstable.

Ye Xuan wanted to know whether, after all the changes that had happened to him, he could control qi threads now.

He extended his hand and pointed toward the sword on the floor.

His qi stretched out like a thread, reaching toward the sword.

A bright smile spread across Ye Xuan’s face.

But controlling the qi thread was only the first step. The real challenge was using it to control the sword.

Ye Xuan slowly raised his hand while maintaining his focus.

He could faintly see the sword beginning to rise.

Ye Xuan was excited, but he refused to lose his concentration.

After putting in more effort, Ye Xuan successfully lifted his sword into the air with the qi thread.

The sword moved smoothly through the air, following the movements of his fingers.

"I did it!"

"I finally created my own qi thread!" Ye Xuan exclaimed excitedly.

He controlled it freely, sending his sword flying toward the ceiling before bringing it back down.

However, he lost control.

The sword shot forward at incredible speed, pierced through the wall of his room, and continued straight into the neighboring room.

Ye Xuan’s face turned pale with shock and panic.

"Oh no!"

A scream came from his neighbor’s room after the sword broke through the wall.

Ye Xuan hurried out of his room and opened the door to the room next to his.

"I’m sorry... I was just—"

His words stopped when he saw a woman standing there wearing nothing but her underwear.

The open door had caught her attention. She immediately turned around and looked at him.

"S-Sorry... I didn’t know you were—"

"GET OUT, YOU DAMN PERVERT!" the woman screamed.

She immediately activated her battle technique and launched an attack at Ye Xuan.

The man’s eyes widened, and he failed to dodge.

A wave of water struck his body and sent him flying backward, slamming him against the wall of the inn’s hallway.

"Ah!"

The woman quickly put her clothes back on and pulled Ye Xuan’s sword from the wall of her room.

She walked out and pointed the sword directly at Ye Xuan’s face.

Ye Xuan gasped and froze.

The blade was only inches from his face.

"Wait...!"

"I can explain everything!" Ye Xuan pleaded.

"You almost killed me. You also saw me in my underwear!" the woman said angrily. "Give me one good reason why I shouldn’t kill you!"

"I-I... I just learned how to use qi threads. I’m not good at controlling them yet, so the sword flew out of control."

"You should ask my snake. She saw everything," Ye Xuan said.

Qingyu lifted her head and gave a small nod.

"Qi threads?!"

The woman’s expression darkened.

"Do you think I’m stupid?"

"That’s a basic ability for a Qi Gathering cultivator. You should have learned it at the 5th Layer!"

She stared at him suspiciously, "How did you even reach the 11th Layer without learning something this basic?"

"I told you to give me a proper answer!" she shouted again.

W-What am I supposed to tell her...? I already told her the truth.

Seeing Ye Xuan remain silent only made the woman even angrier.

"I knew it. You’re a pervert!"

She raised his sword above her head, "Since you refuse to explain yourself... I’ll send you straight to the afterlife!"
