Make Me Yours, Alpha
Chapter 41: Attack on the Alpha King
It was past 2:00 PM by the time Dorian finally left the Western pack, where he had been forced to intervene in a deadly dispute between Gaten and his council.
Apparently, the council had grown completely tired of Gaten and wanted to impeach him from the Alpha seat. In their exact words, ’they needed a new Alpha’ who was actually competent.
It was no surprise to Dorian, who knew exactly how Gaten had underhandedly schemed his way to the top, climbing from a lowly gamma to an Alpha.
Dorian had temporarily suspended Gaten until further notice, ordering him to vacate the pack house until after his wedding and honeymoon.
There was absolutely no way he would allow a bloody fool like Gaten to ruin what was supposed to be the most perfect day of his entire existence.
He floored the gas, pushing the sports car to its absolute limits. The engine purred loudly, the high-performance tires burning against the hot asphalt. Alyssa should be done with the Luna rites and sacrifice by now. He wanted to see her before she began dressing for the wedding.
He was completely focused on the road ahead, his mind drifting toward Alyssa’s beautiful face and hypnotic eyes, when another sports car suddenly zoomed past him and violently swerved into his path.
Dorian sat up abruptly, muttering a violent curse as he swerved too, his grip tightening around the steering wheel.
Without warning, the sports car in front of him slammed on its brakes, coming to a dead halt right in the middle of the highway.
Dorian slammed his foot down on the brakes. The car lurched, the tires screeching and smoking as the scent of burnt rubber instantly filled the air.
Due to the immense pressure, the steering wheel locked completely. Only a few inches remained before a lethal collision.
Thinking fast, Dorian grabbed the emergency brake and yanked it back with brutal force. The tires locked up entirely, and the sheer momentum sent the vehicle into a wild, violent tumble through the air.
Dorian instantly released the wheel and shut his eyes, letting Shadow take total control. Dark fur spilled across his skin in a mad frenzy as he morphed into his beast form within a split second.
Just before the car smashed into the ground, Shadow kicked the door open and leaped out, landing heavily but safely a few meters away.
A second later, the sports car crashed into an abandoned roadside building and exploded into a massive ball of fire, the impact making the ground tremble.
Shadow straightened to his full, towering height. His pitch-black eyes tracked across the road, moving from the burning wreckage to the sports car that had caused the accident.
He let out a deep, guttural growl as the vehicle spun around and sped back the way it came, leaving a thick trail of smoke and dust in its wake.
Shadow almost gave chase, but Dorian mentally pulled back on the reins. If they pursued, they would be walking straight into whatever trap had been set. He couldn’t risk anything ruining the wedding tonight.
After a fierce internal tug-of-war, Shadow finally relented. His massive form dissolved as he retreated, handing control back to Dorian as his human side emerged.
Dorian glared at the distant dust cloud, his handsome face twisted into a mask of pure, unbridled rage. Someone had done this deliberately. Someone had tried to get rid of him.
Luckily, his phone had been in his pocket before the explosion. He stepped away from the asphalt as local shifters began to emerge from the nearby tree line, raising an alarm at the sight of the burning wreck.
Ignoring them completely, Dorian pulled out his phone and dialed Jake’s number.
"Alpha?" Jake’s voice came through on the very first ring. "Have you returned?"
"Where are you?" Dorian demanded, cutting him off completely.
"I’m currently on my way back from the Eastern pack."
"Pick me up at the second intersection before the highway," Dorian ordered. "Look for the smoke in the sky."
The coldness in Dorian’s voice instantly caught Jake’s attention. "Did something happen?"
"Just come," Dorian muttered, hanging up before his beta could ask another question.
A few of the local shifters hurried toward him, their faces filled with worry. Dorian shook his head at them, muttering a sharp response when they asked if he was injured.
He hadn’t sustained a single scratch because Shadow, who was extremely protective of him, had emerged in time.
But the urge to destroy whoever had orchestrated this attack burned furiously in his chest.
He would find them. No matter what.
Twenty minutes later, a sleek Rolls-Royce pulled up to the intersection. Jake stepped out, his eyes widening in shock at the sight of the sports car completely engulfed in wild flames.
Dorian stepped out from where he had been waiting and crossed the road, his face set in a deadly, terrifying scowl.
"What happened, Alpha?" Jake asked urgently.
"I’ll drive," Dorian flatly replied, waving him aside. Jake quickly hurried around to the passenger side as Dorian slid behind the wheel and slammed his foot on the accelerator, speeding down the highway.
"Did you get into an accident?" Jake asked, watching Dorian’s white-knuckled grip on the wheel.
"Someone tried to kill me," Dorian muttered, his voice dangerously low. "It wasn’t a mistake. It was intentional. Look up this license plate immediately: DL01AB."
Jake already had his phone out, his thumbs flying across the keypad as he ran the numbers through the continental database.
Dorian waited impatiently, grinding his teeth to suppress the surge of fury simmering beneath his skin.
"Well?" he barked when Jake suddenly went quiet.
"Just a moment, Alpha," Jake murmured, his brow furrowing deeply as the screen refreshed to a restricted page. He read the registration name aloud.
"It belongs to a man named Pilate Rogers."
"Is there an address?" Dorian growled. "Anything to track them?"
Jake shook his head. "No address, just a passport photograph. But there is a family member listing attached to it. A brother named Arrow Rogers. Both brothers aren’t registered to any pack or territory. It says they’re foreigners."
Dorian’s expression darkened into something deeply sinister as his rage spiraled completely out of control. His grip on the steering wheel tightened until the leather groaned beneath his palms.
Who the fuck were Arrow and Pilate Rogers? And why were nameless outsiders targeting the King of the North on his wedding day?
