Mafia Lord's Mute Sweetheart

Chapter 155 Have you thought about my offer?

Chapter 155: Chapter 155 Have you thought about my offer?

Cedric sat beside her. Jenna immediately began serving food onto his plate, piling it high with his favorite dishes.

"Eat more. You’ve become so thin. I told you that you work too much."

She added another portion to his plate before he could stop her.

"Mom, that’s enough. You won’t finish all of that."

"Of course you will." Jenna smiled proudly. "You’re my son. I know how much you eat."

Cedric couldn’t help smiling. "You’re still treating me like I’m ten."

"Even if you’re forty, you’ll still be my child." She laughed softly and pushed another dish toward him.

Cedric smiled at her, but his expression slowly became complicated. His gaze briefly moved toward Daisy.

She was sitting quietly at the other side of the table, eating carefully and keeping her eyes on her own plate. She looked small and fragile in the large dining chair.

The maid’s words rang in his mind.

Ma’am didn’t come for breakfast. She didn’t come for lunch either. Madam didn’t let her eat.

And then the maid’s hesitant admission.

I don’t know when she eats. I’ve never seen her eating unless you are here.

Cedric’s fingers tightened slightly around his spoon. He looked at his mother.

Jenna was still fussing over his plate.

"Eat this too. You barely touched it."

Her voice was filled with affection. She looked genuinely happy to have him home.

Cedric felt a strange conflict inside him.

He loved his mother. He had grown up with her taking care of him, worrying about him and treating him like the most precious person in her world. He didn’t want to believe that she could deliberately mistreat Daisy.

But he couldn’t completely forget what he had heard either.

His gaze shifted toward Daisy again. She looked perfectly calm as she ate slowly.

Cedric swallowed quietly. He could have asked Jenna about it. He could have confronted her right there, but when he looked at his mother’s happy face, the words stayed inside him.

Not tonight.

He decided to let it go for now. Perhaps there had been some misunderstanding. Perhaps the maid had misunderstood the situation. At least, that was what he wanted to believe.

Meanwhile, Daisy continued eating quietly, completely unaware of the thoughts moving through Cedric’s mind. She simply wanted to finish dinner and return to her room.

Daisy had barely reached the staircase when she heard footsteps behind her.

She continued walking, hoping whoever it was would simply pass by. Her steps were quick, her shoulders tense. She just wanted to reach her room, close the door and forget about the awkward dinner.

Suddenly, a hand caught her wrist.

She stopped in surprise, her heart leaping into her throat. Before she could turn around properly, Cedric gently pulled her back, and her back bumped against his chest. The contact was brief but firm and she could feel the warmth of his body through the thin fabric of her clothes.

Daisy’s eyes widened.

She immediately looked over her shoulder at him, her expression filled with confusion and unease.

Cedric looked down at her.

For a moment, he simply studied her face before speaking. His blue eyes were calm but unreadable.

"Have you thought about my offer?"

Daisy’s expression changed almost immediately. Her face became uncomfortable and her eyes darted away. She remembered his absurd proposal.

She quickly shook her head.

No.

She didn’t want to think about it. She wanted to go to her room.

Daisy gently pulled her wrist from his hand and gestured toward the hallway.

I want to go to my room.

Cedric watched her hands. Then he looked at her face. Unlike before, he didn’t argue.

He simply nodded.

"Alright."

Daisy blinked.

She hadn’t expected him to agree so easily. For a second, she stood there, almost suspicious of his sudden cooperation. Her eyes narrowed slightly, waiting for the catch.

Cedric noticed her expression and gave a faint smirk.

"What?"

Daisy quickly shook her head.

Nothing.

She turned around and hurried toward her room, her footsteps quick and light. She reached her bedroom, opened the door and stepped inside.

She was about to close it when she noticed a shadow behind her.

Her eyes widened.

Cedric had followed her inside.

She slowly turned around. He stood just inside the doorway, one hand still resting on the door.

Daisy stared at him in disbelief. She pointed toward the hallway.

Why did you follow me?

Cedric closed the door behind him.

"I said you could go to your room." He looked at her calmly. "I never said I wouldn’t come with you."

Daisy’s brows immediately pulled together. She stared at him as if she couldn’t believe how casually he had said it.

Cedric’s lips curved into a faint smile.

"Don’t look at me like that." He took a few steps into the room. "I just want to talk."

Daisy remained near the door, watching him cautiously. After everything that had happened that night, she wasn’t sure she wanted to hear whatever he had to say.

Cedric noticed her hesitation. His expression became slightly more serious.

"I won’t do anything."

Daisy didn’t answer. She simply kept looking at him, her guard still up.

Cedric sighed softly.

"Just listen to me for a few minutes." He paused before adding, "Then I’ll leave you alone."

Daisy hesitated. Finally, she nodded reluctantly.

Cedric walked farther into the room, his steps slow and deliberate, while Daisy remained near the door, watching him carefully. Her fingers were still curled around the edge of her sleeve, her body tense and ready to move if necessary.

He seemed to think about his words for a moment before finally speaking. His gaze drifted to the window, then back to her.

"I offered you that because you might need it."

Daisy’s expression didn’t change. Her face remained carefully neutral, but her eyes had grown distant.

Cedric continued, apparently unaware of how differently she saw the situation.

"You’re an adult, Daisy. I know every person has their own needs."

He spoke as though he were explaining something obvious, something any reasonable person would understand.

"Emotional needs. Physical needs. Companionship. Things like that."

Daisy stared at him.

Her eyes slowly became empty.

Needs?

Was that really how he saw it? As if being married meant she must eventually need someone simply to satisfy her physically? As if loneliness could be solved that way?
