Mafia Lord's Mute Sweetheart

Chapter 154 Illegal Thoughts

Chapter 154: Chapter 154 Illegal Thoughts

Should I get rid of Cedric tonight?

The thought popped into his head, and he found himself seriously considering it. He could make it look like an accident. A car crash, perhaps or a sudden illness. A mysterious fall down the stairs. The possibilities were endless.

He imagined himself sneaking into the Evermont mansion, quietly dealing with Cedric without leaving any evidence.

The idea made him excited. His eyes sparkled with mischief as he pictured his brother’s face when he found out Daisy was finally free. Alessio would probably be shocked at first but he’d get over it. He’d be grateful eventually.

I could even make it look like a tragic accident during a business trip. Very tragic. Very believable.

Rafael’s grin widened.

And then Daisy would be free. She could finally divorce that idiot legally. No, no, divorce might not even be needed and my brother would have his chance. Everyone wins.

He was already planning the details when Alessio glanced at him. One sharp look was enough to snap Rafael out of his daydream.

"What are you smiling about?" Alessio asked, his voice flat and suspicious.

Rafael immediately straightened his face, trying to look innocent. "Nothing. Just thinking about something funny."

Alessio’s eyes narrowed. "You look like you’re planning something illegal."

Rafael placed a hand over his heart in mock offense. "Me? Illegal? I would never."

Alessio stared at him.

Rafael held his gaze for a moment before looking away, whistling casually.

I definitely need to be more careful. That man reads me like a book.

Daisy looked between the two brothers, confused by the sudden tension.

Rafael smiled at her and waved his hand reassuringly. "Don’t worry about him, Daisy. He’s just grumpy because he can’t read your mind."

Daisy tilted her head, still looking confused.

Rafael laughed. "It’s okay. You’ll get used to it. We all do."

However, after a few moments, Daisy’s expression became serious again as she looked at Alessio.

Her eyes narrowed and she gave him another pointed glare. Her arms were still crossed and she tilted her head slightly, waiting.

Alessio raised his eyebrows, a hint of amusement flickering in his green eyes..

She was tiny compared to him, barely reaching his chest, yet she stood there glaring at him like she was the most intimidating person in the world. It was absurd and adorable. It made him want to laugh and pull her into a hug at the same time.

He couldn’t help chuckling.

"Alright, alright." He lifted both hands in surrender. "I’ll rest."

Daisy continued staring at him suspiciously, her eyes narrowing even further as if she didn’t trust his word.

"All day," he added, clearly understanding that she wasn’t going to accept anything less. "I promise."

Her serious expression finally softened. The tension in her shoulders eased and a small smile appeared on her face. It wasn’t a big smile, just a tiny curve of her lips, but it was enough to light up her whole face.

The moment Alessio saw it, his own smile became gentler.

"There," he murmured softly, almost to himself. "That’s better."

Daisy blinked, slightly confused.

He simply looked at her for another second before adding, "You look much nicer when you smile."

Her eyes widened a little. A faint blush immediately appeared across her cheeks, spreading like pink watercolor across her fair skin.

She quickly looked away, pretending to be interested in the paapers she was holding. Her fingers tightened around the edges of the documents, and she focused on the words she couldn’t even read.

Alessio’s lips curved upward. He watched her for another moment, enjoying the way her blush deepened and the way she refused to meet his eyes.

He didn’t say anything else.

Rafael watched the entire exchange from the side, his jaw slightly open.

Did my brother just... compliment her? And make her blush?

He blinked several times.

By the time Daisy finished her work, the sky outside had already begun to darken. The whole day had been exhausting and all she wanted was to get back to her room, change into something comfortable and forget about everything for a while. Her body ached, her eyes were dry, and her mind felt like it had been running on empty for hours.

But the moment she remembered that Jenna was at home, a small feeling of uneasiness returned.

She slowed down as she approached the mansion, her fingers tightening around the strap of her bag. She took a deep breath before entering.

The moment she stepped inside, however, she stopped.

The living room was empty.

Yay! No one waiting for her.

A quiet sigh of relief escaped her lips. She hadn’t realized how tense her shoulders had become until they finally relaxed. She quickly went upstairs, changed her clothes, and stayed in her room for some time.

She was hoping she could simply eat something there and avoid the uncomfortable dinner downstairs. She had some instant noodles hidden away and the thought of eating alone in her room was far more appealing than facing Jenna’s cold stares.

Unfortunately, around dinner time, there was a knock on her door.

"Ma’am, dinner is ready. Madam asked everyone to come downstairs."

Daisy bit her lower lip.

She really didn’t want to go. She could easily eat something simple in her room. Even plain noodles would be better than sitting at the dining table while trying to avoid Jenna’s cold looks and subtle jabs.

For a few seconds, she seriously considered refusing. She could say she wasn’t hungry. She could say she already ate but she knew Jenna would find a way to twist it into something negative.

With a reluctant sigh, she picked up her phone and followed the maid downstairs.

The dining room was still relatively quiet. Daisy quietly took her usual seat, the one farthest from Jenna. She kept her eyes lowered, arranging the napkin in her lap while waiting.

A few minutes later, Jenna entered. Daisy immediately became a little tense, her shoulders stiffening instinctively.

Jenna sat down gracefully and not long after, Cedric walked into the dining room.

The moment Jenna saw him, her expression softened. Her whole face lit up and she reached out as if to welcome him home.

"My son, come here."
