Love You for the Rest of My Life
Chapter 2590 - 2591: The Hardest Wound to Overcome
"Can’t really tell," Gu Qibao pouted, "I feel like it should be, like, super dramatic!"
"Exactly," Nangong Ran couldn’t help but laugh, "Actually, here’s what I think."
"What is it?" Gu Qibao asked.
"Sister Xiaoxia and Di Mingjue got together, then the eldest brother couldn’t have her and didn’t want to find another woman to marry, so he’d have to go for the second brother!" Nangong Ran said with a giggle.
"Huh?" Gu Qibao’s eyes widened, "Wow, that’s a huge family drama for the Di Family!"
"Yeah," Nangong Ran nodded, "Anyway, if it wasn’t for me messing things up with you and Bo Chengyan, we probably wouldn’t have any ties with the Di Family, and the Di Family would just have their own family loving each other. Sister Xiaoxia and the third Di brother would be great together, the eldest brother and second brother would have a deep bond, and there would be only Xiaowu and Di Jinxuan left, probably nothing to do with my third brother. If it hadn’t been for that incident with Bo Chengxin, Bo Chenghe wouldn’t be the way he is now, and he would have been with Di Jinxuan!
So, you tell me, where do we fit into this whole story?"
"Yeah!" Gu Qibao nodded vigorously, "There’s really nothing to do with us! The key point is, if I slept with Bo Chengyan, but Bo Chengyan didn’t like me—he actually likes Bo Chengxin, and in a dramatic way—then wouldn’t I be totally unlucky?!"
"Hahaha," Nangong Ran laughed, "Yeah, yeah, then it would turn into a big drama for the Bo Family instead!"
"A drama for both families," Gu Qibao chuckled.
"Yeah," Nangong Ran nodded, took a deep breath, and replied, "Exactly, so, you see, life doesn’t have so many ’what ifs.’ If there were really so many ’what ifs,’ the world would be a mess!"
"Yeah, indeed." Gu Qibao responded.
"I mean, Gu Xiaoqi, you see Bo Chengyan and run off sighing, aren’t you afraid your Duke back home will be mad?" Nangong Ran asked.
"Not really," Gu Qibao smiled, then took a deep breath too, and said, "My Duke isn’t that petty. It’s not that I’m sighing over Bo Chengyan; I just want to muse over our youth. After all, Yiru and Yimo will start elementary school next year, and I’m getting old."
"In my heart, you’ll always be eighteen," Nangong Ran glanced at Gu Qibao with a smile, "We’re always eighteen, me laughing, you causing trouble. Even if we end up with gray hair, we’ll still always be eighteen, remember that!"
"Yeah," Gu Qibao flipped over and lay on the grass, propping her face in her hands, "Because we’ve never truly been hurt, right?"
As she spoke, she turned towards Nangong Ran, her big eyes blinking playfully.
"Right," Nangong Ran simply turned over and lay on the grass too, blinking back, "Why do you think Bo Chengyan has gray hair? He still looks so handsome."
"Probably just tired," Gu Qibao thought for a moment and answered.
"It must be heartbreak," Nangong Ran concluded seriously, then asked, "Xiaoqi, what kind of hurt do you think is the hardest to get over?"
"Heartbreak, didn’t you just say that?" Gu Qibao replied.
"Yeah," Nangong Ran nodded, "That’s what I think. If the person you like doesn’t like you, or bluntly rejects you, or teases you without ever liking you, you’ll have a big scar on your heart, you know? When the second brother rejected me, I felt like I aged five years overnight!"
