Jose Floyd twisted the human trafficker’s wrist harshly, his tone icy: "Put the person down for me! Otherwise, I’ll have you lying across the street!"

Seeing the crowd surging toward them, panic and fear filled the human trafficker’s eyes. With his wrist held by Jose Floyd, he couldn’t escape. If caught, the crowd would surely tear him apart!

Thinking of this, the human trafficker became more terrified, realizing he couldn’t fight against the skilled man before him. Noticing a small car coming down the road, he panicked, wanting to escape quickly. Suddenly, he grabbed the little girl and threw her toward the oncoming car!

"No!! The child!!"

"It’s dangerous! Quick, save the child! You mad thing!!"

"Damn bastard! Even the child is not spared!"

The crowd’s cries exploded, filled with panic and anxiety.

"Mom—Mommy-Mommy!" The little girl cried out for her mommy as she was thrown.

Jose Floyd watched the human trafficker mercilessly throw the child, his eyes colder than ever! He forcefully shoved the human trafficker away, staring at the thrown little girl in panic, and lunged towards her.

Jose Floyd moved swiftly. Just as the car was about to hit the thrown girl, he grabbed her, rolling with her to the roadside.

In the nick of time, as Jose Floyd shielded the child while rolling, the car flashed by, stopping a dozen meters ahead.

While everyone was startled by the sudden change, the human trafficker swiftly got in a van and fled.

Jose Floyd was still holding the child on the ground, hearing the car’s engine start, he glanced at the van’s license plate, icy coldness radiating from his eyes, laced with killing intent.

The stopped car’s driver immediately got out and asked Jose Floyd, "Sir, are you okay? That scared me to death. I wasn’t speeding, and suddenly a child was thrown at me. I couldn’t brake in time, luckily you caught the child."

The driver was very apologetic, but Jose Floyd said nothing. He turned his attention to the little girl in his arms, his voice unconsciously gentle: "How are you? Are you hurt?"

The little girl, possibly still in shock from earlier, was a bit dazed, her complexion very pale, her body trembling.

"The child is frightened. Should we take her to the hospital?" the kind driver suggested.

Just as Jose Floyd was about to nod, the person in his arms burst into tears, her voice mixed with childishness and fear, clinging to Jose Floyd and crying: "Uncle—Uncle—I’m so scared. Bad people, bad people... just now, that bad person..."

The little girl cried while pressing closer to Jose Floyd, seeking comfort.

Jose Floyd’s arm, bruised from shielding the child, was painful. He attempted several times to lift his hand to comfort her, finally managing to do so with effort.

"Don’t cry, the bad person is gone now, it’s all okay."

The little girl cried in his arms, soaking a large area of his white shirt. Jose Floyd had never been this close to anyone, except Nicole. Never had he held a woman in his arms, and although she was just a little girl, she was the first female other than Nicole.

He never knew how to comfort people, especially crying children, so he stiffly patted the soft hair of the little girl.

Her hair had a wonderful texture, soft and smooth, with bright eyes like two dazzling gemstones, shining brilliantly.
