Lord of Perverted Ladies
Chapter 204: Stranger
The next morning, Adrian woke to the sound of someone shouting.
He opened his eyes.
For a moment, he didn’t remember where he was.
Then he saw the wooden ceiling.
The unfamiliar room.
The thin blanket.
The small window.
And the sunlight coming through it.
He stared at the ceiling.
"Right."
New world.
New village.
No cosmic disaster.
No ancient being.
No mysterious eye.
He sat up.
"Hopefully."
Someone knocked on the door.
Adrian looked toward it.
"Come in."
The door opened.
Lena stood there.
She was holding two pieces of bread.
"Breakfast."
Adrian stared.
"That’s breakfast?"
"Apparently."
She handed him one.
He took it.
"Where did you get this?"
"Old man gave it to me."
"The one from yesterday?"
"Yes."
"Why?"
"He said we looked hungry."
Adrian looked at the bread.
Then at Lena.
"Fair."
They ate in silence.
It was surprisingly good.
Or maybe Adrian had simply been hungry enough that anything tasted good.
When they finished, Lena looked at him.
"We need to find out where we are."
Adrian nodded.
"Agreed."
"And who we are."
"Also agreed."
"And why we were brought here."
Adrian stopped.
"Wait."
"What?"
"Who said we were brought here?"
Lena frowned.
"We woke up in the forest."
"Exactly."
"So?"
"So we might not have been brought anywhere."
Lena stared at him.
"Then how did we get there?"
Adrian opened his mouth.
Nothing came out.
She smiled.
"Exactly."
Adrian sighed.
"Fine."
They left the room.
The village was already awake.
People walked through the streets carrying baskets and tools.
Children ran between houses.
Someone was arguing with a goat.
Adrian stopped.
"Is that goat winning?"
Lena looked.
The goat had successfully knocked over a basket.
The owner was yelling.
The goat stared at him.
Then ate a vegetable.
Lena smiled.
"I think so."
They continued.
The old man from yesterday was sitting outside a small shop.
He noticed them.
"Ah."
He waved.
"Sleep well?"
Adrian nodded.
"Yes."
"Good."
Lena sat beside him.
"Can we ask you something?"
The old man laughed.
"You can ask."
"Where are we?"
"Raven’s Hollow."
Adrian looked around.
"Is that the village?"
"The village and the valley."
"Country?"
The old man frowned.
"What?"
Adrian paused.
"Never mind."
Lena asked,
"How far is the nearest city?"
"Three days."
"Three days walking?"
"Two if you’re in a hurry."
Adrian nodded.
"Do you have a map?"
The old man pointed toward the shop.
"Inside."
Adrian entered.
The shop was small.
Maps hung along one wall.
He examined them.
The region looked ordinary.
Mountains.
Rivers.
Forests.
Cities.
Nothing impossible.
No strange symbols.
No cosmic marks.
Then Adrian saw something.
A large empty area on the map.
He touched it.
"What’s here?"
The old man looked over his shoulder.
"Nothing."
"Nothing?"
"The Black Forest."
Lena leaned closer.
"People don’t go there?"
"Not anymore."
"Why?"
The old man shrugged.
"Things live there."
"What things?"
"Things that don’t like people."
Adrian stared at the forest.
"Monsters?"
"Among other things."
That was the first word that made the new world feel less ordinary.
Monsters.
Adrian looked at Lena.
She looked equally interested.
The old man noticed.
"No."
"We didn’t say anything."
"You didn’t have to."
He pointed at both of them.
"New people always think dangerous places are invitations."
Adrian smiled.
"We’re not new."
The old man laughed.
"You woke up in the forest yesterday without knowing your own names."
Adrian paused.
"Fair point."
The old man looked at them.
"Stay away from the Black Forest."
Adrian nodded.
"We will."
They left the shop.
Lena waited until they were far enough away.
"We’re going."
Adrian looked at her.
"Obviously."
She smiled.
"I knew it."
They spent the rest of the morning preparing.
They bought food.
Water.
A knife.
A blanket.
Rope.
A small lantern.
Nothing magical.
Nothing special.
Adrian appreciated that.
It felt like preparing for an actual journey instead of another cosmic revelation.
By noon, they were ready.
Then a young man approached them.
He wore a leather jacket and carried a sword.
"You two."
Adrian looked around.
"Us?"
"Yes."
The man stopped in front of them.
"You asked about the Black Forest."
Adrian glanced at Lena.
"Who told you?"
"Everyone knows."
"That’s unfortunate."
The man frowned.
"You’re planning to go."
It wasn’t a question.
Adrian shrugged.
"We’re considering it."
"Don’t."
"Why?"
The man’s expression became serious.
"My brother went in."
Lena’s expression changed.
"What happened?"
"He never came back."
Adrian waited.
"How long ago?"
"Six months."
"Did anyone search?"
"We did."
"And?"
The man looked toward the forest.
"We found his sword."
"Where?"
"At the edge."
Adrian looked at Lena.
She looked back.
The man continued.
"There are no bodies."
"Then he might still be alive."
The man’s eyes hardened.
"That’s what I told myself."
Adrian understood.
Hope could be cruel.
"What is his name?"
The man hesitated.
"Jonas."
Adrian nodded.
"If we find him, we’ll bring him back."
The man grabbed Adrian’s arm.
"Don’t make promises you can’t keep."
Adrian looked at his hand.
The man released him.
Adrian didn’t get angry.
"I won’t."
They left the village that afternoon.
The road toward the Black Forest was quiet.
For the first hour, neither spoke.
Then Lena asked,
"Why did you promise to find him?"
"I didn’t."
"You said we’d bring him back."
"I said if we find him."
She frowned.
"That’s basically a promise."
Adrian smiled.
"You’re right."
They walked another hour.
The village disappeared behind them.
The landscape became wild.
The forest ahead was enormous.
Black trees.
Thick branches.
Almost no sunlight reached the ground.
Adrian stopped at the edge.
"This looks welcoming."
Lena laughed.
"Terrible liar."
"I’m trying."
They stepped inside.
The temperature dropped immediately.
The sounds of the world disappeared.
No birds.
No insects.
No wind.
Just silence.
Adrian looked around.
"This place is wrong."
Lena nodded.
"Yes."
"How do you know?"
"I don’t."
She touched a tree.
"It’s just..."
She struggled.
"Like the forest is listening."
Adrian looked at the branches.
For the first time since arriving in this world, he felt the old sensation.
Being watched.
He looked upward.
Nothing.
No eyes.
No impossible symbols.
Still—
someone was watching.
Adrian sighed.
"Apparently I can’t escape that."
Lena looked at him.
"Escape what?"
"Nothing."
They continued.
After an hour, they found footprints.
Human.
Adrian crouched.
"Recent."
Lena knelt beside him.
"Jonas?"
"Maybe."
They followed them.
The footprints became deeper.
Then strange.
Some went forward.
Some went sideways.
Some seemed to stop halfway.
Adrian frowned.
"What?"
Lena pointed.
"Look."
There was a footprint on the side of a tree.
Adrian stared.
"That’s impossible."
Lena nodded.
"Yes."
Another footprint appeared above it.
Then another.
Leading upward.
Adrian looked toward the branches.
Nothing.
He stood.
"Okay."
"What?"
"Maybe we’re not dealing with ordinary animals."
A sound came from behind them.
Crunch.
Both turned.
Nothing.
Another sound.
Crunch.
Adrian slowly reached for the knife.
Lena whispered,
"Don’t."
"Why?"
"Because I think it wants us to."
Adrian froze.
The forest became silent again.
Then a voice came from the trees.
"Jonas."
Lena grabbed Adrian’s arm.
The voice sounded exactly like the man they had met in the village.
His brother.
"Jonas?"
Adrian looked toward the darkness.
A figure stood between the trees.
Human-shaped.
Barely visible.
Lena took one step forward.
"Are you Jonas?"
The figure nodded.
Adrian immediately noticed something wrong.
Its head was tilted too far.
Its arms hung strangely.
And it wasn’t breathing.
Adrian whispered,
"Don’t move."
The figure smiled.
"You came for me."
Lena looked at Adrian.
He shook his head.
"We’re leaving."
The figure’s smile disappeared.
"Why?"
"Because you’re not Jonas."
Silence.
Then the figure laughed.
Its voice changed.
The old man’s voice.
Then the young man’s.
Then Lena’s.
Then Adrian’s.
Finally—
a voice he hadn’t heard in a long time.
Permission.
"You’re learning."
Adrian froze.
The figure stepped out of the shadows.
Its face changed constantly.
Old.
Young.
Male.
Female.
Human.
Not human.
Then it stopped.
It looked like Adrian.
But not the same Adrian as before.
This version looked peaceful.
Almost ordinary.
It smiled.
"Don’t worry."
Adrian stared.
"Who are you?"
The figure answered:
"A stranger."
Lena whispered,
"What does that mean?"
The figure looked at her.
"It means he doesn’t know me yet."
Adrian’s grip tightened around the knife.
"Why are you here?"
The figure pointed deeper into the forest.
"Because you came looking for something."
"We came looking for Jonas."
"No."
The figure smiled.
"You came looking for proof."
"Proof of what?"
"That this world is real."
Adrian went silent.
The figure continued.
"You’ve lived through worlds where everything had meaning."
"Where every door was waiting for you."
"Every question had an answer."
"Every mystery connected back to you."
Adrian stared.
"But this world?"
The figure stepped closer.
"It doesn’t belong to you."
Adrian’s eyes narrowed.
"Good."
The figure smiled.
"That’s what I thought you’d say."
Then it pointed behind Adrian.
Lena turned first.
A wooden sign stood between the trees.
Adrian hadn’t noticed it before.
There were three words carved into it.
WELCOME, STRANGER.
Underneath was a second line.
NO ONE IS WATCHING.
Adrian stared.
He almost laughed.
Lena looked at him.
"What’s funny?"
Adrian shook his head.
"Nothing."
He looked deeper into the forest.
For the first time, the feeling of being watched disappeared.
Completely.
No Audience.
No Questioner.
No ancient observer.
Nothing.
Just the forest.
Just the road ahead.
Just a mystery that didn’t revolve around him.
Adrian smiled.
"Let’s find Jonas."
The strange figure stepped aside.
"Go."
Adrian and Lena walked past.
Neither looked back.
Behind them, the figure watched them disappear.
Then it whispered to itself:
"Begin."
And deep inside the Black Forest—
something answered.
Not with a voice.
With footsteps.
Someone was coming toward them.
And this time—
it wasn’t waiting for Adrian.
It was waiting for Lena.
