Lord of All Gods
Chapter 3380
Ye Liuyun and his two clones all remained with the army, using his Golden Eyes and spiritual sense to monitor the surroundings and guard against sneak attacks by powerful demons.
Following Ye Liuyun’s instructions, Yu Xiaofeng also unleashed his full strength. This time, he did not arrange for any firepower chariots.
“Since we’re going all out, then everyone should take part!”
He first had the Death Legion exchange volleys of heavy crossbow bolts with the enemy. The Death Legion’s armor was special, equipped with light shields. The soldiers could charge while using their shields for defense without being hindered from firing their crossbows.
Once they closed in, the female soldiers would tear open the enemy’s formation and eliminate its powerful fighters. Then the Death Legion and Jiang Yuanhai’s three-hundred-thousand-strong army would charge in together.
Xiao Heng’s and Li Zhaoyuan’s armies were responsible for pursuing and surrounding the enemy, preventing the three hundred thousand demonic troops from escaping. The Black-armored Elite Soldiers and the demonic army would guard the central command tent, while part of the demonic legions would be sent to collect the surrendered troops.
When the soldiers heard that they were finally going to fight a hard battle, they were all extremely excited. They had been frustrated enough during this period; they had never before spent an entire month being chased and beaten.
The five hundred thousand demonic troops pursuing them arrived a few days later. As soon as they arrived, they launched an attack.
Ye Liuyun’s Golden Eyes had spotted the two powerful fighters sent by the demons long ago. One was especially strong in the power of heaven and earth, while the other excelled in Spatial Force.
The two of them had only begun using their respective powers to conceal themselves once they had come within five days’ distance. They thought Ye Liuyun should not be able to detect them from that distance, but they had still underestimated his Golden Eyes.
They had also underestimated the power of his soul. At that distance, Ye Liuyun had already locked onto them firmly with his spiritual sense. However, he did not hurry to attack the two powerful demons. Instead, he wanted to wait and see whether any more powerful fighters would appear later.
He waited until the demonic army launched its attack, but still detected no other powerful demons. He then sent his two clones to engage the two demonic fighters, respectively practicing the power of heaven and earth and Spatial Force.
He himself joined the battle with the demonic beasts and the Death Legion, leading a charge against the demonic army.
The two top demonic experts were truly formidable in Spatial Force and the power of heaven and earth. In fact, the one who wielded the power of heaven and earth was even slightly stronger than the clone. In the end, however, it was still killed by the giant beast the clone had condensed from spiritual energy.
As for the other one, who was stronger in Spatial Force, it realized during the fight that it was no match for the clone and turned to attack Ye Liuyun instead. Left with no choice, the clone killed it with a soul attack so that it would not interfere with Ye Liuyun’s battle.
Ye Liuyun led his troops into the demonic army, killing the demonic soldiers with nothing but the intent of his blade. Once released, the Demon-Sealing Stele killed the commander of the demonic army on its own, without needing anyone’s help, and then focused on smashing the soldiers with the highest cultivation levels.
Everyone had an exhilarating slaughter this time. Some even engaged the demons in attacks against each other’s souls.
This demonic army was about as strong as they were, making it perfect for honing their skills.
The demonic beasts and female soldiers held a tremendous advantage. The demonic soldiers could barely stop them as they rampaged through the demonic army, throwing its ranks into complete chaos.
Jiang Yuanhai’s three-hundred-thousand-strong army also focused on killing the demonic soldiers with higher cultivation levels, leaving the rest to the Death Legion for practice. Each side got what it needed.
The demons finally got their wish and fought Ye Liuyun’s army head-on, but they had never expected this outcome.
Some of the demonic soldiers at the rear of the army saw that the situation was unfavorable and tried to flee, only to be blocked by Xiao Heng’s and Li Zhaoyuan’s armies. Another bloody slaughter followed.
The battle lasted an entire day. In the end, only thirty thousand of the demonic army’s five hundred thousand troops remained, having been persuaded to surrender by the Tiger-Headed Beast King. The other four hundred and seventy thousand were completely wiped out.
Everyone said that the battle had been immensely satisfying. As the fighting was nearing its end, Ye Liuyun also released the women and the Tang family disciples, bringing the demonic beasts to protect them specifically so they could get some exercise as well.
However, the army’s casualties as a whole were also considerable. Although the demonic army numbered only five hundred thousand, these were not freshly recruited soldiers but the demons’ regular legions. They had fought with extreme ferocity.
Nearly ten thousand more soldiers of the Death Legion had fallen. Jiang Yuanhai’s three-hundred-thousand-strong army had lost more than thirty thousand in battle, with over twenty thousand wounded.
Nearly another thousand female soldiers had been killed by the demons, leaving just over seven thousand. But every one of the surviving female soldiers was now nearly as strong as the Black-armored Elite Soldiers. Their killing intent was awe-inspiring, and they had acquired the imposing presence of the Death Legion.
Even the Azure-Wind Wolves beneath them had eyes filled with killing intent and an aura that soared into the heavens. They too could be considered veterans of countless battles.
The entire force did not even need to release its aura. Simply standing there in silence was enough to make others feel oppressed. Those lacking courage would not even dare think of fighting them, let alone make a move.
After the battle ended, Ye Liuyun immediately ordered the various armies to return to camp and use the clones’ spatial worlds to accelerate the recovery of their true essence, preparing for the next battle.
The demonic army was left in charge of guarding both the battlefield and the military camp. Ye Liuyun and his clones also remained in the camp on alert.
He surmised that this was merely bait, and that the demons certainly would not stop there.
Whatever schemes the demons had, as long as they did not send all ten million troops at once, he truly had no reason to retreat. This was an excellent opportunity to train the army.
Sure enough, just as the demonic legions had finished clearing the battlefield and returned to reorganize the surrendered troops, Ye Liuyun’s Golden Eyes spotted five hundred thousand demonic troops approaching from far across the starry sky, with Red Demons and powerful demons mixed in among their ranks.
Those Red Demons and powerful fighters had even put on soldiers’ armor, blending in among the army.
Ye Liuyun carefully examined the army’s combat readiness with his Golden Eyes and found that their equipment had not been issued, as though they were not preparing for battle. Yet the soldiers’ expressions were extremely solemn, as if they were prepared to die.
“Could they be planning another soul battle?” Ye Liuyun began discussing the matter with Yu Xiaofeng.
“That isn’t impossible! Why don’t we take the initiative this time and deny them the chance to organize a joint attack?” Yu Xiaofeng suggested to Ye Liuyun.
He felt that since Ye Liuyun intended to fight without restraint, there was no need for them to keep defending passively. Their forces were no smaller than the demons’ five hundred thousand troops, so they could absolutely take the initiative.
“That works!” Ye Liuyun immediately agreed and began discussing how to make their move.
After deciding how to proceed, Ye Liuyun checked the Soul-Sealing Pearls in his possession once more. After emptying them all, he distributed them to the demonic beasts.
He then led them out of the military camp ahead of time to ambush the demonic fleet.
In reality, the entire military camp was left with only the demonic legion’s one hundred thousand cannon-fodder soldiers. They were responsible only for defending the camp with heavy crossbows; they had not even been provided with any firepower chariots.
Qiong Qi and the other formation masters helped the commanders of the various armies inscribe numerous formation plates capable of defending against large-scale soul attacks. They even equipped the soldiers with quite a number of them.
