“What are you standing around for? Hurry up and collect the bodies of our own people!” Ye Liuyun also ordered them to help clear the battlefield.

The demons had been monitoring the situation here as well. Having no idea what had happened, they were all startled when tens of thousands of soldiers suddenly died.

The attack they launched against Ye Liuyun’s army was also suppressed by Jiang Yuanhai’s forces with firepower chariots and powerful crossbows, and ultimately failed.

Yu Xiaofeng led the army in a slow retreat. Before the other demon reinforcements arrived, Ye Liuyun also gathered everyone into his spatial world, recalled the puppets, and withdrew into the void.

But all of a sudden, he discovered that this entire region of space had been sealed off, while the spatial barrier continued to contract, as if it were shrinking the space itself.

Ye Liuyun and his clones immediately scanned their surroundings with their Golden Eyes and spotted a black-armored demon in the distance, waving a Formation Flag.

“Seal off the void, then shrink the space and trap me inside?”

The corners of Ye Liuyun’s lips curled upward. He unleashed the full force of his Spatial Force and blasted toward it. However, the spatial barrier established by the Formation Flag was composed of formations. Even Ye Liuyun’s full-powered punch failed to break through it.

“Draw your blades!”

The two clones drew their blades at the same time, reminding Ye Liuyun to do the same.

The three of them then combined their blade intent with divine essence and the power of heaven and earth, striking at the same spot.

Their slash split open a gap in the spatial barrier. But before they could rush over, the gap instantly repaired itself.

“This formation is no simple matter!”

Ye Liuyun thought to himself, then immediately began condensing a giant spiritual-energy beast. However, because the shrinking space was suppressing it, the spiritual-energy beast was not as large as usual. Even so, its full-powered attacks kept damaging and repairing the formation, slowing the rate at which the space shrank.

“One isn’t enough? Then let’s add two more!” The two clones immediately acted as well, condensing spiritual-energy beasts and blasting the same point together.

The combined attack of the three spiritual-energy beasts blasted another huge hole in the formation. One of the beasts then used its massive claws to tear the hole wider, allowing Ye Liuyun and his two clones to rush out of the sealed space.

Ye Liuyun’s first clone then took out the Demon-Hunting Bow and, raising his hand, fired an arrow at the black-armored demon. The arrow blew it apart, while the second clone acted at the same time, using Spatial Force to move the Formation Flag from the demon’s hands over to him.

Ye Liuyun did not even take a closer look. He turned and left, tossing the Formation Flag to Qiong Qi in the spatial world so that it could use it for protection.

“The formation inside this flag is quite a treasure. You don’t want it?” After refining the Formation Flag, Qiong Qi discovered that ordinary people could not break through the formation at all.

Ye Liuyun, however, felt that since he had managed to break through it once, he naturally had confidence that he could do so a second time. If he used the white light of his Golden Eyes, or the power of time to slash at it several more times, he could break through it just as easily. Thus, he had no interest in the Formation Flag whatsoever.

Qiong Qi accepted it without ceremony, saying that it could use it to deal with the demons.

Just as Ye Liuyun was about to return to the army through the void, an intense sense of danger suddenly surged into his heart. He abruptly stopped and dodged, covering his entire body with overlapping layers of void and the power of heaven and earth.

The first clone raised a hand and fired another arrow from the Demon-Hunting Bow toward a certain direction, while the second clone used his Crimson Eyes to cast an illusion in that direction.

With a whoosh, a powerful force of heaven and earth swept past Ye Liuyun.

Immediately afterward came another boom. The Demon-Hunting Bow had evidently struck someone.

A black-armored demon emerged from the starry sky. Its power of heaven and earth had originally been strong enough, but after falling victim to the second clone’s illusion, its defenses weakened, allowing the first clone’s arrow to hit it.

However, its physical body was formidable, and the arrow did not pierce through it. After falling under the illusion, though, it no longer concealed itself. Ignoring its injuries, it launched another full-powered attack toward its side.

With a bang, another black-armored demon was blasted into view by its punch.

Blood spilled from the corner of its mouth as it flew a long distance through the starry sky. Ye Liuyun immediately used his Crimson Eyes on the demon that had been sent flying. As a result, both demons, under the control of the illusion, released their divine souls and charged into Ye Liuyun’s sea of consciousness.

Ye Liuyun deliberately shifted the Soul Refining Cauldron within his sea of consciousness, allowing them to rush in and be covered by the Myriad Gods Token so that he could search their souls.

It turned out that both of them were experts among the demons, possessing particularly powerful forces of heaven and earth. They had accompanied the army in search of an opportunity to deal with Ye Liuyun. Quite a number of demons with special abilities like theirs had been sent as well.

However, nearly half of them had already died in the battle. Ye Liuyun had not even noticed when these demon experts had been killed. They had probably died amid the chaotic armies during the fighting, without ever getting the chance to display their true strength.

The black-armored demon who had carried the Formation Flag just now had also been one of those experts.

These experts all shared one characteristic: none of them possessed particularly strong divine-soul power. The main reason was that the demons feared sending members of the Scarlet Demon Tribe, which would alert Ye Liuyun. The other types of demons, however, would not attract his attention.

After they returned to the military camp, Yu Xiaofeng also learned of the unexpected incident and reminded Ye Liuyun not to be careless. It would be better if he stopped taking such risks in the future.
