Chapter 394: Chapter 142: Crisis and Opportunity

"There’s another way?"

"Your Majesty, please summon this Viscount Robertson immediately! The Algeria Kingdom is willing to pay a hefty price to resolve this!"

The Algerian envoy looked as if he’d been thrown a lifeline. If this wasn’t handled properly, his future would almost certainly be over.

However, if he handled it well, it would undoubtedly add a brilliant feather to his political cap.

After all, the airship wasn’t his, so he didn’t bear the primary responsibility.

"Where is Noah’s airship now?"

Louis III, seeing a glimmer of hope, looked toward the Knight Commander of the Golden Griffin Knight Order at his side.

The Royal Capital had over a hundred Griffin Knights, but the airship was at an altitude of two thousand meters. A griffin carrying a person could fly a hundred-odd meters high at most, and not with easy maneuverability. If Prince Noah were to jump and they failed to catch him, that would be a fine mess.

"It’s already reached Morgana. I estimate it will reach the Royal Capital in about half an hour," the Knight Commander replied.

"Excellent! Oscillate, bring that man here at once. Go and ask him..." Louis III said.

"Your Majesty, I cannot be certain if this is truly feasible. Aside from this plan, all other preparations should continue..." Marquis Oscillate said.

He was also covering for himself and Robson.

Marquis Oscillate didn’t have a deep understanding of Robson or his Flying Dragon. If it turned out the man couldn’t do it, he didn’t want all the responsibility to be dumped on them.

Louis III naturally understood the Marquis’s meaning and waved his hand.

"Have him do his best. And tell him, if he succeeds, the royal family will reward him generously," Louis III said.

...

At this moment, Robson and Valentino had just arrived at the party’s location: the outer hall of the Crystal Palace.

The hall was brilliantly lit, with Magic Glaze dyeing the area in a myriad of colors. It had the feel of a dance hall from Robson’s previous life, except this one was much larger.

As Robson and Valentino made their way through, many people took the initiative to greet them.

Robson’s adventures on the eastern front had yielded significant results, and he had earned quite a reputation in the noble circles of the Royal Capital.

If Valentino weren’t right beside him, he likely would have been surrounded by flirtatious women all night.

Of course, everyone knew of Robson and Valentino’s relationship, so no one dared to cross a behemoth like the Fengman Clan.

"Robson! Robson!"

A voice called out from a distance.

Shouting in a public place was truly unbefitting of a noble. The crowd looked over, curious and ready to offer a word or two of criticism, but they snapped their mouths shut the moment they saw who it was.

The newcomer was none other than Marquis Oscillate, who was looking for Robson.

The powerful naturally have their privileges. It wasn’t that he was being rude; he simply didn’t care about worldly opinions.

The moment the voice reached Robson’s ears, he immediately knew who the speaker was.

"Marquis, good even—"

"There’s no time for that now. Come with me."

Robson was stunned for a moment and looked at Valentino.

Valentino was just as confused, but since it was her own grandfather giving the order, she was in no position to object.

Marquis Oscillate pulled Robson to one side while a subordinate unfurled a Scroll, activating a Silence Array.

"Robson, you have a Flying Dragon, don’t you?" Oscillate asked.

"You mean Everton?"

Robson tapped his shoulder. The long, winged creature resting there stretched its wings.

"What’d you call Grandpa Everton for?"

After repeatedly distinguishing himself in battle under Robson, Everton’s old arrogance had returned.

People are meek when they’re useless. So are dragons.

Marquis Oscillate had heard tales of great dragons before, so he was unfazed by the sight.

"You must answer my next questions with absolute honesty! Do not conceal a single thing! Remember! Not one single thing!" Oscillate said.

Robson frowned.

"Understood. Go ahead."

The Marquis then briefly explained what had happened inside the Crystal Palace.

Robson immediately understood why the normally stern Marquis was so discomposed today.

"I’m not sure. Everton, can you do it?" Robson asked.

This matter was too important. Just as the Marquis said, he had to give an honest answer.

Even if he couldn’t do it, he couldn’t lie and say he could.

Being able to do it would be best, of course. Robson didn’t even have to think hard to see the enormous benefits hidden within.

"You’re talking about catching someone from an altitude of two thousand meters?

"Compared to the training I received back in the day, that’s nothing at all."

...

「Aboard the Royal Mary Airship.」

Prince Noah opened the last cabin door. Inside was a woman, and beneath her lay the body of a dead man in a black robe.

The man’s skull had been smashed to a pulp by the woman. Blood and brain matter were everywhere.

"Yifulei... you, are you all right?"

Despite Prince Noah’s strong composure, he was horrified by the sight.

The woman was none other than Princess Yifulei. She wore a blood-red gown, radiant and lovely—a stark contrast to the scene around her.

Everyone high and low in the Algeria Kingdom knew the royal family had a princess who could really fight.

"Noah, I’m fine. This guy must have been the one causing trouble!"

Hearing this, Noah stepped forward. The deceased was missing half his head. It was clear he did not go peacefully.

Prince Noah’s eyes immediately fell on the deceased’s left forearm. On it was a black sword marking.

"Dammit, another cultist!"

Although he didn’t know what the sword marking truly represented, anything this strange could generally be written off as the work of a cult.

He didn’t know what was going on with the continent lately. It seemed that ever since the King of Algeria, His Majesty Uloris, annihilated the trolls of the Anros Federation, cult-related incidents had multiplied several times over throughout the Human World—or rather, the entire continent.

And why the entire continent? Because the other great power, the elves, had also been experiencing many similar incidents.

Prince Noah had never imagined he would one day be caught up in something like this.

"Your Highness."

Before long, a Mage came to Prince Noah’s side.

"How is it? Is the airship repaired yet?" Prince Noah asked.

The Mage shook his head.

"We can’t make heads or tails of this stuff. We have no idea how it was made," the Mage said.

You couldn’t blame the Mages. People today had basically no understanding of the ancient technologies dug up by the Algeria Kingdom—or rather, the First Empire. Anyone who claimed to understand it was, without exception, a charlatan.

"The airship cannot be repaired. The self-destruct sequence has been initiated.

We will cast the Light Feather Technique on you and Princess Yifulei. The War Mages are rushing to create the necessary Scrolls.

We have ten minutes left. We ask that you prepare yourself," the Mage said resolutely.

The Light Feather Technique could temporarily make a person lighter, but as time passed, its effects would gradually weaken until they faded completely.

Although it couldn’t guarantee Prince Noah and Princess Yifulei a safe landing, it was the only thing they could do now.

The Mage Corps aboard the airship would even have to sacrifice their lives for this.

Their years of training had all led to this single moment.

Prince Noah’s brow furrowed slightly upon hearing this. Though he felt a pang of regret, he knew this was no time to be sentimental.

"I understand. I’ve already sent a message to my father, the King. I’m sure they’ll make a move once they receive it.

You should all prepare yourselves as well."

The Mage nodded, then began his work right where he stood.
