Longevity Begins From Raising Disciples
Chapter 926 - 438: Hua Jingxin Left Alone
The flying boat tore through the sky, moving at a tremendous speed.
At the prow, four prodigies of Huayue Mansion stood with robes fluttering, each raising their own Protective Spiritual Light to completely ward off the biting astral wind rushing at them, like Exiled Immortals on a journey.
At the stern, Chen Ye huddled in a corner, letting the few streaks of astral wind that slipped in whip his tattered gray robe until it snapped and flapped.
Looking closely,
it turned out Hua Jingxin had deliberately meddled in secret,
the girl was lazily leaning sideways against the jade railing of the flying boat, the leftover airflow pressing her simple white gauze dress against her body, tracing out in full the slender waist that one hand could not quite encircle, and that almost-bursting fullness at her chest.
She stretched out jade-like fingers, idly twirling a lock of green-black hair before her chest, her delicate body leaning slightly forward. Her faint, ambiguous gaze slid toward the corner at the stern, where Chen Ye was shivering from the cold.
Seeing that old fossil curled up like a dying wild dog, Hua Jingxin let out a soft laugh, the sound laced with a cruel, sadistic delight that treated human lives like ants to be toyed with.
"Cold, old bones?"
Hua Jingxin’s red lips parted slightly, her tone full of delight,
"Bear with it, will you? The astral wind up here flays the bones, but it also invigorates the blood and disperses stasis. It smells much better than that disgusting old-man stench on you. If you can’t even take this little breeze, once we reach the Celestial Abyss... how could I ever bear to use your rickety old bones to plug those void rifts?"
Her elder brother was also leaning on the jade railing, laughing as he said:
"Oh? Little sister can’t bear it, hmm? Then you’d better keep a close eye on him afterward—wouldn’t want this fellow Daoist to get hurt."
"Brother! You’re disgusting!"
At his words, Hua Jingxin’s eyes widened; she stomped her foot in a fit of anger,
"Who can’t bear this old thing reeking of death? I was just joking!"
"Hahaha, your brother was only joking as well. Why so worked up, little sister?"
Hua Wuyin was amused by his sister’s bristling reaction. With a swish he snapped open his white jade folding fan, shaking his head with a smile.
Meanwhile.
Chen Ye was even more speechless.
This pair of siblings was seriously sick in the head.
He suspected this Budu River was another Demon Sect; those Zhong brothers, Zhong Shan and Zhong Yue, had actually been more pleasing to the eye. Pity they were already dead at his disciple’s hands.
"Cough, cough... cold..."
Chen Ye coughed shakily, as if so humiliated by this pair of siblings that he trembled uncontrollably, while quietly adjusting the angle of the Memory Stone hidden in his sleeve.
This was precious material!
Once he returned to Cold Scale Mansion, all he had to do was place this Memory Stone in front of Qing Jun, and that little lass would probably wail in distress on his behalf.
In the future, never mind asking her to cook or stir-fry; she’d probably rush over to support him even if he took two extra steps.
Thinking of how his disciples would fuss over their master, Chen Ye felt delighted; he even thought the astral wind had become a bit gentler.
"Enough, both of you shut up."
At the front of the prow, Gu Tangyin, who had been sitting with eyes closed in meditation, spoke coldly,
"Huayue Mansion is a famous righteous sect. Though this man is but a barbarian, you still must not abuse him as you please... moreover, he was openly summoned by us at Greedy Evil Pulse. If anything happens to him, we will inevitably invite gossip."
The deeper meaning of her words was a veiled warning to the siblings not to go too far.
Hua Jingxin and Hua Wuyin both stiffened.
Though neither of them truly submitted to this senior sister in their hearts,
she was, after all, one of Huayue’s Hidden Dragons, and her methods were vicious.
Hua Jingxin was resentful, but could only sullenly withdraw the Spiritual Power she had been using to secretly suppress the wind-blocking formation patterns.
Once the girl lifted her hand, the biting astral wind at the stern weakened noticeably.
Curling up in the corner, Chen Ye silently felt the wind die down and secretly clicked his tongue in regret.
The footage still wasn’t enough—why did this woman have to butt in?
On the surface, though, he had to appear grateful as he thanked Gu Tangyin: "Many thanks, Fairy Gu. On this trip, this old one will certainly do his utmost to guide Fairy."
Gu Tangyin didn’t even lift an eyelid, completely ignoring his thanks.
In the eyes of someone at her level as a Hidden Dragon, speaking up for Chen Ye was only to preserve Huayue Mansion’s righteous reputation, and, incidentally, to knock some sense into this increasingly unruly pair from Budu River.
As for Chen Ye’s life or death, she was just as indifferent.
Half a day later.
The gray, hazy sky ahead suddenly turned pitch black.
As though some Ancient Fierce Beast had torn the heavens asunder by brute force, everything in sight was shrouded in rolling, inky-black clouds.
Deep within those clouds, lightning and fissures intertwined and flashed from time to time, like a shattered spiderweb stretched across heaven and earth.
Compared to when Chen Ye and his disciple had left,
the environment of the Celestial Abyss had deteriorated further.
However, there were already signs of mending; before long, this heaven and earth would begin to repair itself.
"Bzzz—crack-crack-crack!"
As soon as the magic boat approached, the defensive formation patterns along its hull began to flash wildly.
"After the great eruption of the Celestial Abyss, the spatial Law has become too chaotic. The flying boat cannot withstand this level of tearing force; we’ll have to proceed on foot."
Gu Tangyin spoke in a low voice.
Previously,
though they had come to Chouyun Pass together with the Li Family’s caravan, because the Li Family’s Daoist master dreaded the Celestial Abyss, none of them had actually approached it.
That old bastard of the Li Family was becoming more and more afraid of death, to be so terrified of a dead man from a thousand years ago.
With Gu Tangyin casting a spell, the flying boat descended.
Everyone withdrew their Spiritual Light and lightly alighted on the ground.
"This place is so foul... I truly don’t know why the Emotion Crossing Sect would build their sect in the Qixi region."
Hua Wuyin’s brows furrowed as he snapped open his white jade folding fan with a swish; a faint, clear radiance flowed from the fan’s surface, warding off the surrounding Evil Qi.
Hua Jingxin pressed tightly against her brother’s side, the peerless little face beneath her veil drained of color, even her breathing becoming cautious and delicate.
