Chapter 97: Chapter 97: Give It a Try With Him

Everyone in the livestream chat had their own theory.

Whenever the peanut gallery heard about a divorce, they’d start guessing wildly. Either one person had a health problem—physical or mental—or someone cheated.

This was also why it was hard for divorced men and women to find new partners in the dating market.

The traditional view on marriage in the country defaulted to one assumption: if there was nothing wrong with the husband or wife, they wouldn’t get divorced.

’Just make do and live with it, right? Why get a divorce?’

So, when dating someone who was divorced, you absolutely had to ask for the reason.

Not doing so would be irresponsible to yourself.

"I actually didn’t ask about that." The woman paused for a moment, then said, "But I think I can guess the reason."

"I’ve been with him for two months now, and I’ve discovered he’s an emotional black hole. He needs others to provide him with emotional validation, and he spends most of his time in a state of mental exhaustion."

"Basically, you have to praise him. Tell him he’s handsome, tell him he’s doing a good job, and he’ll be very happy and willing to talk to you."

"He doesn’t... have Yu Yu, does he?" Zhang Zhe asked.

Based on the woman’s description, the man was either suffering from Yu Yu or was autistic.

In a situation like that, an amicable split with his ex-wife was certainly possible.

It would also explain how the caller was able to find his ex-wife and why the ex was willing to talk to her.

After all, he was unwell. Most people would be willing to make some concessions for someone who was sick.

[My cousin is just like that, an emotional black hole. He drove my cousin’s wife into actual Yu Yu. Now they’re both on medication.]

[He sounds like one of those handsome guys in movies who self-harms.]

[Shouldn’t he see a doctor for something like this?]

[Sis, you really don’t need to be with someone like that. Are you only with him because he’s tall, rich, and handsome?]

"It’s not Yu Yu. He’s seen a doctor. There’s nothing wrong with him."

"He just suffers from severe mental exhaustion."

"So, is he the gloomy-all-day type? Or the brooding, scowling, ’world-is-against-me’ type?"

"The gloomy type."

"That’s not so bad." Zhang Zhe could basically picture what kind of guy he was.

The woman’s phrasing wasn’t quite accurate. Her description made it sound like the man was demanding emotional validation.

But in reality, the guy was just withdrawn.

He wasn’t the demanding type who’d get upset if you didn’t tell him he was handsome.

Being withdrawn isn’t harmful to others.

But being in a close relationship with someone like that for a long time can be very difficult because of the lack of emotional feedback.

"How long has he been like this?"

"Probably since junior high. It’s likely related to his parents’ suppressive upbringing."

"So how long do you think you can like him?" Zhang Zhe asked the most critical question. "He might be rich forever, but he won’t be handsome forever."

"Right now, you’re looking at a tall, rich, handsome guy. His looks alone give you emotional validation, so you’re naturally willing to coddle him."

"But what about later?"

"When his ex-wife married him, she was definitely attracted to his face and his money too. But in the end, she couldn’t take it and cheated on him."

"What about you?" Zhang Zhe asked, spreading his hands.

"I can do that too."

"Wait a minute. When you say you ’can do that too,’ you don’t mean you can also cheat, do you?"

"Yep," the woman laughed. "What else?"

"He doesn’t care at all. He actually knew his ex-wife was cheating on him long before, but he had absolutely no reaction."

[Holy shit, is this guy a hitman or something? How can he be so patient?]

[I often feel out of place here because my moral standards are too high.]

[Then what are you waiting for? Just go at him, Wu Tao style!]

[As expected, the shameless are the first to enjoy the world.]

[That guy’s so unlucky. He’s probably not even interested in women, but he was cursed with a handsome face, so they all flock to him.]

"Well, you’re invincible then." Zhang Zhe was genuinely impressed by this kind of woman. She knew what she wanted and had even calculated the risks.

A typical gold digger just goes after a man’s money.

She wanted the man *and* the money.

In fact, even if the man couldn’t stand being cuckolded, it wouldn’t matter, because this woman wouldn’t give a damn about his feelings.

To sum it up in one sentence: the hunter had found her prey.

"Since you’ve got it all figured out, just marry him already." Zhang Zhe couldn’t be bothered to analyze it further. There was nothing more to say to someone like her.

"I want to marry him, but it seems like he doesn’t want to marry me."

"My colleague introduced us, and since then, I’ve been the one pushing the relationship forward. I arrange everything, from our dates to just going out shopping together."

"The situation now is that I’m trying really hard to advance our relationship, but I can’t seem to make any progress."

"So I came on here to ask you, Host, if I’ve picked the wrong target."

"Are my qualifications not good enough for him?"

[Duh, why would a tall, rich, handsome guy want a gold digger like you?]

[I originally thought the guy was just a normal dude, but after hearing her say that, I’m starting to think he’s gay.]

[TL;DR: She wants to be a gold digger but can’t dig any gold.]

[Could he be the legendary sigma male?]

[Sounds like the guy has a clear head on his shoulders.]

When Zhang Zhe heard the woman say she couldn’t make any progress in the relationship, he almost burst out laughing.

’She’s met her match.’

The calculating woman wanted something from a man who had no interest in her.

She must have been feeling unbearably frustrated, as if something was constantly scratching at her from the inside.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t have come online for advice.

"You haven’t given me much information about him, but divorced men like him are easy to analyze. You know his ex-wife, right? Just compare yourself to her."

"Are you better than his ex-wife?"

"Of course," the woman answered immediately. "His ex-wife was decent-looking, but she had no idea how to provide emotional validation. They only got married because their parents set them up."

"I’ve met his ex-wife, and even she admitted that I’m better than her."

"Impressive." Zhang Zhe could tell this woman was going crazy with desperation.

It was as if she was constantly screaming: ’Aaaah! I’m so amazing, why won’t you marry me?!’

"To be honest, I’ve rarely seen a situation like yours."

"But I can give you one very useful piece of advice."

"What is it? Please tell me, Host," the woman asked eagerly, as if she had a pen and paper ready to take notes.

"First, you need to confirm whether he actually likes women."

"It could be that the pressure from society or his family is too great."

"That would also explain why he could tolerate his ex-wife cheating on him."

[The host and I are on the same page.]

[I don’t think he’s gay. I just think he’s not into this woman.]

"Host, you mean..." The woman mulled it over, then said with sudden excitement, "Are you telling me to ’try him out’ first and see if he can perform?"

"That’s a great idea! I’ll find out right away."

"???" Zhang Zhe scratched his head. "When you women have a question, can’t you just ask it with your words? You want to just ’try it out’ already?"

All the men in the livestream chat were wailing: Why can’t I ever meet a woman like this?

I hate tall, rich, handsome guys!
