Livestream Matchmaking: My Intel Infinitely Refreshes
Chapter 101: It’s a Misunderstanding, It’s All a Misunderstanding
Chapter 101: Chapter 101: It’s a Misunderstanding, It’s All a Misunderstanding
"You guys really overestimate me. I’ll be the one making enemies, and you’ll get all the benefits..."
Boss He couldn’t help but mutter. The two women beside her obviously heard her, and very clearly at that, but they didn’t react at all, acting as if it were only natural.
Their way of thinking was the same as their clients’:
I just make demands.
You’re having trouble? That’s your problem.
Anyway, if you don’t meet my demands, I’m going to cause a scene.
As the mentor, Sister Zhou went a step further and directly threatened Boss He:
"The resources in that livestream belong to the matchmaking agency in the first place. What we’re asking for are perfectly normal demands."
"Old He, if you think there’s a problem, we can get all the partners together and discuss it."
"That won’t be necessary." Boss He waved her hand. "I’ll go talk to Xiaozhang for you, alright?"
They’d had partner meetings before. The outcome was always the same: everyone would take a step back, a bit of ’you be considerate of me, and I’ll be understanding of you.’ It was a complete waste of time.
"Then go find him now."
"I have to keep an eye on you for this. Last time, you just paid lip service to it and immediately forgot."
"Fine." Boss He nodded helplessly. "Wait here. I’ll go get Xiaozhang."
...
When Zhang Zhe was called over, he was in a daze. He had been in the middle of a joint stream, and the other person had just connected.
’What’s going on? Am I done with the agency’s livestreams?’
The last time he’d been pulled away from work right when he was getting into the groove was when he got fired. His manager had led him into a conference room and said with a heavy expression:
"I’m sorry, but the HR department at headquarters has decided to ’optimize’ you."
This time...
The moment Zhang Zhe walked through the door, he saw Jiang Qi’s pig face.
He immediately realized the situation was much the same.
"Boss He, and this is...?" Zhang Zhe asked, looking at Sister Zhou with curiosity. He thought she looked a bit familiar.
"You’ve met Jiang Qi, I believe."
"This is Old Zhou, Zhou Gui Xiang. She’s a partner at our matchmaking agency and Jiang Qi’s mentor. You can call her Sister Zhou."
"Oh, so you’re a master-apprentice pair."
"So, what did you need me for? I only told my viewers I was taking a five-minute break. If they have to wait too long, they’ll leave."
"A small matter, just a small matter." Sister Zhou squeezed a smile onto her plump face. "Teacher Zhang, you’ve been helping a rich heir whose family owns a hotel find a match recently, haven’t you?"
"Now that’s a good resource..."
"You’re trying to snatch this too?" Zhang Zhe frowned. He assumed Sister Zhou and her apprentice were cut from the same cloth and were now pushing their luck. "You two are being pretty shameless."
"He’s a client I found myself."
"Do you two make a habit of taking food from other people’s bowls?"
"Snatch? No, no, no, you’ve misunderstood." Sister Zhou shook her head repeatedly. "I’m not here about the same thing as Jiang Qi."
"So I can just ignore everything she said?" Zhang Zhe asked, pointing at Jiang Qi.
"You still have to deal with it."
"?"
"I haven’t even agreed to your first demand, and now you’re piling on a second? I didn’t agree to the first one, so what makes you think adding another demand will make me agree?"
"I used to think you just had a low moral compass, but now it seems you have an intelligence problem too." Zhang Zhe’s expression turned to one of contempt. "Don’t come to me with this. It’s a waste of time."
After saying this, he turned to Boss He:
"Boss, I may have signed a contract with you, but I’m not one of your official employees. I don’t get social security, a housing fund, or any of those benefits."
"So don’t try to pull that ’exploiting your employees’ routine on me."
"Xiaozhang, that’s not what we meant," Boss He quickly explained. "As for Jiang Qi’s issue, we’re still considering it."
"I..." Jiang Qi, who was standing to the side, tried to explain.
But Boss He shot her a glare that silenced her.
"Sister Zhou is here to talk to you about a different matter. The two things are completely unrelated."
"Oh, I see." Zhang Zhe had a better impression of Boss He, so he was willing to hear her out.
Out of respect for her, Zhang Zhe reluctantly stayed to hear what this was all about.
Sister Zhou hadn’t expected Zhang Zhe to be so aggressive right off the bat.
She had been about to lose her temper too, but when a five-foot-three, 375-pound woman threw a tantrum, the very structural integrity of the matchmaking agency would be put to the test.
Thankfully, Boss He was there to mediate.
Even so, it took a good while for Sister Zhou’s expression to return to normal:
"I have a client."
"She’s a great match for the rich heir you’re currently helping."
"You should help set them up. If they actually get married, it’ll be a textbook case for our agency—something all the matchmakers in the city would be talking about for ages."
"Boss He knows. Arranging a marriage between two prominent local families is a huge feather in the cap for both the matchmaker and the agency."
"That’s right, it is," Boss He chimed in from the side.
"Alright, then," Zhang Zhe said, having no objection. "I can pass on the message. For something this simple, you could have just told me on WeChat."
"It’s not about passing on a message."
"The young woman wants to come on your livestream."
"That’s what his side told me."
"Huh? Did he?" Under everyone’s gaze, Zhang Zhe quickly opened his phone to check. Unbeknownst to him, Hui Zi had transferred him another 8,800.
He hadn’t even sent a message, just attached a note to the transfer:
[For the next one.]
’Who spends money like this? The note is so curt. Even if you’re sending your girlfriend a red packet, you should at least add ’voluntary gift’ to cover your bases.’
’Looks like what Sister Zhou said was true after all.’
"Sorry about that. My client isn’t much of a talker. He just sends the money and doesn’t explain anything."
"I thought it was a classmate paying me back."
"I can tell you and your client get along very well, Teacher Zhang," Sister Zhou said meaningfully from the side. "In that case, this should be a sure thing."
"Yep, it’s a sure thing."
"Have the young woman come to the livestream."
"Great. But my client... she has a little quirk..."
"It’s fine. Anyone who comes on a matchmaking show has a few quirks."
"She’s divorced."
"Divorced is fine, as long as there are no kids." Zhang Zhe wasn’t concerned. For someone with Hui Zi’s status, a divorced woman wasn’t out of the question, especially when their families were well-matched.
At his age, he could only insist on a woman having no prior marriages if he were marrying down.
But as long as her family’s background was comparable to his—the classic "marriage between powerful families" scenario—divorced was acceptable.
"But her ex-husband is dead."
"As long as she wasn’t the one who killed him."
"She wasn’t."
"OK," Zhang Zhe said, making a gesture. "Anything else? If not, I’m going back to my stream."
"Go on, go on," Sister Zhou said with a smile. "Thanks for your hard work."
"When they get together, we can hold a celebration party."
Sister Zhou’s apprentice wanted to say something else, but Sister Zhou stopped her.
Once Zhang Zhe’s figure disappeared through the doorway, Jiang Qi couldn’t hold back any longer:
"Master, didn’t you see? That rich heir seems to pay per session."
"He pays a fee for every single date."
"A business this profitable, and you’re just letting him take all the money."
"Shut up," Sister Zhou said bluntly. "Money, money, money, that’s all you think about. No wonder you ended up with a man like that. You’re a real disgrace to me."
"Alright, that’s enough. The stream’s client pool that you want—you’ll get it in the end."
"First, let’s have Xiaozhang take care of this VIP client for me. We’ll talk after that’s done."
