Chapter 321: Talent called Intuition
The second interrogator stepped forward. "Let us focus on your talent then. It is an SSS-rank ability called Convergence. According to the proven testimonies and the official reports, you were unable to use that power for three years. You did not even know how to activate it. So how come you suddenly know exactly how to use it now?"
"I figured it out accidentally during a dungeon run at the academy," Solomon responded smoothly. "I have said the same thing on my live stream to my fans multiple times."
"It is an SSS-rank talent," the interrogator argued suspiciously. "It makes absolutely no logical sense that an SSS-rank ability is nothing but a basic healing factor."
Solomon once again shrugged his shoulders as best as he could in the restraints. "I only recently learned how it works. So maybe there is more to it than just healing. It could eventually develop into something better and more powerful as I grow. But right now, all I know is that it heals my injuries. I can easily prove it to you right now if you take these cuffs off."
The lead interrogator stared down at Solomon, analyzing his confident demeanor. He finally nodded and signaled the other officers to unlock the heavy titanium bracers.
The other interrogators immediately protested the reckless order, but after he barked the command again, they reluctantly and hesitantly unclasped the magnetic tethers securing Solomon’s wrists.
Solomon rolled his freed wrists, squeezing his hands and stretching his fingers. "I am going to need some kind of weapon."
The lead interrogator pulled a sharp utility cutter from his belt and tossed it onto the metal table. The other three interrogators instantly took a step back, placing their hands defensively on the grips of their sidearms.
Solomon picked up the small cutter. Then, he looked at the three terrified officers backing away and scoffed openly at their cowardice.
He turned his attention back to the lead interrogator. "Where should I cut myself?"
The interrogator stared at Solomon, pondering the request for a moment. "You should cut your face. I do not like how you look right now."
Solomon rolled the blade out of the casing. He brought the sharp edge close to his eye, maintaining unbroken, intense eye contact with the interrogator. Without a single flinch, he dragged the blade down his own cheek.
Crimson blood immediately began dripping from the deep cut, falling onto his white hoodie and pooling on the sterile floor.
Within just a few seconds, the bleeding stopped entirely. The torn flesh rapidly stitched itself back together, leaving absolutely no scar behind. Solomon casually wiped the smeared blood from his cheek with his sleeve, leaned forward across the table, and presented his flawless skin to the interrogator.
The interrogator stared closely at the spot where the deep cut had been just moments ago, confirming it was perfectly healed.
’He is telling the truth,’ the interrogator thought to himself. ’His talent just heals wounds. Even if this talent somehow grants him infinite stamina or enhanced durability as a secondary effect, it should be physically impossible for a single, unarmored kid to take down a heavily fortified corporate guild using just his bare fists. Even if he had some kind of weapon, fighting against S rank, and dozens of A rank heroes, and hundreds of B rank and lower rank adventurers alone is incomprehensible. I don’t know what they were even thinking by arresting a kid. Has this organization become so corrupt that they would fall so low?’
The lead interrogator stood up from his chair. "Cuff him back up."
He turned and walked out of the containment chamber, leaving the subordinates to secure the teenager.
’Wait, what? The interrogation ended? I thought they were going to push harder and use some kind talents and stuff!’ Solomon thought. ’Even the inquisitor’s interrogation was more entertaining than this! Is this some kind of reverse psychology?’ he wondered.
’Was I too defensive and didn’t give them an opening? At this rate, my plan will fail. I came here for a reason! No matter what happens, I won’t stay here until at least one of those bastards show themselves!’
Meanwhile, the lead interrogator rode the elevator back up to the observation deck and met with Commissioner Vane.
"We need to officially confirm what he is claiming about the holy relic and his SSS-rank talent with the academy administration," the interrogator reported. "However, we currently possess zero physical evidence linking him to the guild explosion. Unless our forensic teams find concrete clues at the crime scene, we cannot legally keep him locked up down here."
Commissioner Vane processed the report and nodded. "We are currently holding him and twenty other individuals on suspicion. We will let them all go within twenty-four hours, provided the forensic teams and the Awakened investigation units clear them of any involvement."
Just then, Vane’s communication device buzzed sharply. He checked the screen, then turned to the lead interrogator. "Rudy, the preliminary interrogations for all suspects have concluded. We are convening a conference meeting upstairs right now to connect the dots and discuss our tactical next steps."
Rudy, the lead interrogator, crossed his arms and scoffed. "I am not interested in your bureaucratic meetings. You can do whatever you want. I was officially on leave. I only came down here because the initial reports claimed this was a terrorist attack, and the primary suspect was an SSS-rank talent holder. If I had been told beforehand that I was just going to be questioning a sarcastic teenager, I would not have even bothered to show up."
"That is certainly not the way a subordinate should speak to his superior," a sly, snarky voice echoed from the side of the observation deck.
Rudy turned around. A man sat casually in one of the rolling office chairs, sipping a cup of coffee without a care in the world.
It was Chief Kurt, the commanding officer of the Seventh District precinct.
Rudy scowled, his distaste for the man blatantly obvious. "You should keep your mouth shut if you are not going to say anything actually helpful, Kurt."
Kurt frowned, slowly lowering his coffee cup. He released a subtle pulse of his aura, projecting his authority across the room. "Are you intentionally insulting my authority, Rudy?"
Rudy didn’t even flinch. "Your supposed authority ends the second you stand in front of me. I will talk however I want. If anyone in this room has a problem with my attitude, they are more than welcome to fire me."
Without waiting for a response, Rudy turned around, stepped into the elevator, and rode it up to the ground floor. He walked out of the penitentiary, climbed into his luxury car, and drove away into the night.
Rudy possessed an A-rank talent, Intuition, which is why his thoughts and words were highly regarded.
