Chapter 310: How to Revenge (2)

  • Next Chapter

Solomon crashed through the thick, reinforced glass panels, tumbling across the polished marble floor of the corporate headquarters. The moment the glass shattered, high-pitched alarms began ringing throughout the entire skyscraper.

There were no flashing red and blue lights. The building’s emergency security systems activated instantly. Vents lining the ceiling and the baseboards hissed loudly, pumping a dense, gray mist into the corridors.

The gas rapidly obstructed vision, turning the sprawling office floor into a suffocating, opaque maze. Automated steel shutters slammed down, locking off access to the stairwells and elevators.

Heavy boots pounded against the floorboards as dozens of guild members came running from the adjacent halls. They wielded swords and heavy maces, their faces obscured by gas masks.

Solomon pulled the hood of his gray sweatshirt up over his head and immediately launched himself into the fight.

The dense gas severely reduced visibility, limiting his line of sight to a few feet. He could barely track the incoming attack patterns, and anticipating ranged magical strikes became completely impossible.

He dodged a wild swing from a mace, stepping inside the attacker’s guard to deliver a sharp elbow to the man’s throat. As the guild member collapsed, Solomon grabbed the gas mask from his face and quickly strapped it over his own head.

With the mask securely in place, his breathing eased, and the specialized lenses cut through the gray mist, significantly improving his vision.

Although the toxic gas had not caused any immediate internal damage, and the immortal angel heart would have easily healed any corrosive effects, he preferred not to drain his stamina tax unnecessarily by forcing his healing factor to work in overdrive.

He engaged the next group of enforcers, throwing quick, targeted punches and sweeping kicks. He dispatched the first three attackers with surprising ease.

Solomon paused for a fraction of a second, genuinely confused. ’Are these elite guild members just weak, or have I somehow gotten stronger?’

He tested his physical output against the next wave of guards. He stepped forward, caught an incoming sword thrust with his bare hands, twisted the blade aside, and delivered a straight punch to the attacker’s armored chest. The breastplate caved inward, and the man was launched across the corridor.

He realized his physical strength had undeniably increased. His basic strikes were inflicting vastly more damage than they had just a few days ago in the financial company.

Suddenly, a rogue attacker managed to slip through the gray mist, landing a swift dagger slash across Solomon’s ribs.

Solomon glanced down at his side. The blade had torn his hoodie, but the physical injury was merely a shallow cut instead of the severe, deep wound the strike was intended to inflict. The angel heart knitted the minor laceration back together instantly.

’My physical defense has increased as well,’ Solomon noted, rolling his shoulders. ’Is this a lingering aftereffect from drinking the giant’s elixir, or is my body naturally adapting to the continuous strain of the Convergence talent?’

Regardless of the biological reason, the enhanced durability made his objective significantly easier.

Solomon went on a rampage through the mist-filled floor. He utilized his extensive mercenary combat foundations, relying on precise hand-to-hand techniques rather than unrefined brawling.

An enforcer swung a heavy broadsword in a wide arc. Solomon stepped smoothly into the swing, trapping the man’s arm against his own torso. He snapped his hip forward, executing a judo throw that slammed the attacker headfirst into the marble floor.

Two more guards rushed him from the flank. Solomon dropped his center of gravity, swept his leg across the polished stone to trip the first guard, and used the falling man’s momentum to launch himself upward. He delivered a flying knee directly into the second guard’s masked face, shattering the lenses and knocking him unconscious.

He moved methodically down the corridor. He deflected a spear thrust with his forearm, grabbed the wooden shaft, and yanked the attacker forward into a palm strike. He chained his movements together with efficiency, prioritizing joint locks, throat strikes, and sweeping takedowns to neutralize the threats as quickly as possible.

The gray mist swirled violently around him as he carved a path through the corporate defenders, leaving a trail of broken guild members in his wake.

Since the automated lockdown had completely disabled the elevators, Solomon had no choice but to take the emergency stairwells. He kicked the fire doors open, immediately encountering a choke point riddled with armed guild members waiting to ambush him on the landings.

Solomon let out an annoyed sighed and said, "Why don’t you guys just stay holed up in your quarters? You never do the work you are supposed to do, but now you want to risk your life protecting the guild?"

Solomon received no response from them.

"Well..." he stretched his arms and legs. "It makes sense that you don’t want to lose your job. But it shouldn’t be more important than losing your life, right?"

He utilized his Basic Parkour foundation alongside his hand-to-hand combat skills, turning the cramped, vertical environment entirely to his advantage.

He vaulted over the metal railing of the first landing, dropping directly onto the squad waiting below. As he fell, he drove his knees into the shoulders of a heavily armored Vanguard, crushing the man to the concrete floor.

Solomon used the falling guard’s body as a springboard, launching himself sideways off the wall to avoid a barrage of condensed fireballs hurled by an Awakened mage on the stairs above.

The fireballs scorched the concrete, but Solomon was already moving. He grabbed the metal handrail, swung his body weight entirely around the outside of the stairs, and delivered a swinging kick to the mage’s jaw, sending her tumbling down the flight of stairs.

A swordsman lunged at him from the narrow landing. Solomon stepped inside the thrust, utilizing the first deflection arc of the Azure Crane Blade without even holding a weapon.

He guided the attacker’s momentum past his shoulder, grabbed the man’s wrist, and twisted sharply to disarm him. Catching the falling longsword mid-air, Solomon spun on his heel and slashed the blade across the chest of two advancing enforcers, cutting cleanly through their tactical vests.

He tossed the borrowed sword aside when the blade chipped against a shield, opting to rely on his fists and his environment.

A rogue activated a speed-enhancing talent, darting up the stairs like a blur to deliver poisoned dagger strikes. Solomon tracked the rapid movements, dropping his center of gravity to avoid the initial slashes. He grabbed a discarded fire extinguisher from the wall bracket and swung it like a makeshift club, smashing the heavy red cylinder directly into the rogue’s ribs.

The impact shattered the man’s bones and sent him crashing through the stairwell window.

The guild members desperately tried to coordinate their talents. A geomancer slammed his hands onto the steps, causing stone spikes to erupt from the concrete beneath Solomon’s boots.

Solomon bounded off the wall, flipping backward to avoid the impaling spikes. He landed on the railing, balancing perfectly on the thin metal bar. He channeled a dense surge of silver aura into his hands, completely shattering the metal railing as he launched himself upward like a cannonball.

He crashed directly into the geomancer on the upper landing, driving his aura-coated fist straight into her stomach. The sheer force of the punch lifted the caster off the ground, his fist coming out from her back.

Solomon moved like a relentless force of nature, clearing floor after floor. He snapped wrists, shattered kneecaps, and utilized the tight corners to funnel the attackers into his striking range. He grabbed a spear from a fallen guard, spun the wooden shaft to deflect incoming magical projectiles, and drove the blunt end into the throats of the remaining defenders.

Blood stained the concrete steps, and the groans of broken men echoed up the stairwell. Solomon’s gray hoodie was soaked in sweat and crimson splatters, but his breathing remained steady, his Indefatigable talent constantly refreshing his stamina as he carved his way to the highest executive floors.

And then... he reached the chamber of the guild master.
