Chapter 304: Slaughtering the Six Saver Guild

  • Next Chapter

Meanwhile, on the top floor of the Six Savers guild headquarters, a tense emergency meeting was underway inside the Guild Master’s office.

The room was packed with high-ranking guild officials, corporate partners, and several wealthy investors dressed in tailored suits.

One of the junior executives leaned across the polished conference table. "Have you gentlemen heard the rumors regarding the massacre at the ’Good Life’ financial company?"

"I received the same report from my underground sources," an older official nodded, swirling a glass of expensive bourbon.

"It has not been made public yet," a corporate partner noted, checking his glowing smartphone. "The local news networks are completely silent."

"The Awakened tactical units must still be investigating the crime scene," another executive muttered. "They are probably keeping a tight lid on it to prevent a city-wide panic."

"Who do you think could have possibly pulled off a hit like that?" the older official wondered aloud.

"It must be someone who held a deep-seated grudge against them," the junior executive theorized. "Good Life ruined a lot of lives with their predatory loans."

A heavily armored guild captain scoffed from the back of the room. "Those loan sharks were complete trash to begin with. Some desperate debtor probably just awakened a high-tier combat talent recently, or maybe a rival syndicate hired a professional hit squad to wipe them out. It is nothing we need to worry about. We can hire someone else."

The Guild Master, a burly man with a thick scar across his jaw, slammed his heavy fist onto the conference table. "Shut up! We did not gather here tonight to gossip about a bunch of dead loan sharks!"

The executives exchanged confused glances. If they weren’t here to discuss the sudden annihilation of their primary financial proxy, why had an emergency meeting been called?

The Vice Guild Master adjusted his collar and spoke up. "If the Awakened authorities investigate the massacre thoroughly and uncover the encrypted paper trails linking Good Life directly to the Six Savers guild, we could be in legal trouble. We have to ensure our name stays completely out of the headlines until the District Six real estate acquisitions are finalized."

The guild’s Chief Legal Counsel, a purple-haired man in a pristine suit, waved a dismissive hand. "You do not need to worry about any information or shady deals leaking to the authorities. I have deeply entrenched contacts and significant influence within the Dungeon Regulatory Bureau and the local police precincts. Everything will be settled quietly, provided we pay the right officials enough to keep their mouths shut."

One of the wealthy investors leaned forward, resting his elbows on the table. "Is there any progress regarding the District Six evacuation? My corporate partners are demanding daily updates. They are threatening to pull their funding and look for prime real estate in a different sector if this district is not emptied on schedule."

The Guild Master stood up from his leather chair. "That is exactly why I called you all here tonight."

Everyone at the table suddenly sat up straighter, eager for a concrete update on their hostile takeover operation.

"We exclusively sourced and funded the Good Life financial company to handle the civilian evictions through debt leverage since they were based in district six and most debtors were residents of district six," the Guild Master explained, pacing behind his desk. "As you are all aware, they were completely wiped out. It is incredibly obvious that someone residing within District Six is directly responsible for their annihilation. Someone strong enough to pull off a coordinated massacre without getting caught."

The Chief Legal Counsel shook his head. "According to what my contacts inside the precinct told me, the Awakened authorities have already concluded that it was simply an internal feud. The enforcers turned on each other."

"Even if that was the official conclusion, it makes zero sense that there were no survivors," the armored guild captain argued. "It is not like the two warring factions were perfectly, evenly matched in numbers and strength. How is every single enforcer dead? Some of them should have been merely injured, and at least a few cowards should have escaped the building. Especially Richard and Marcus. Those two slimy bastards only ever cared about saving their own skins."

The Legal Counsel glared at the captain. "We do not know for a fact if anyone actually survived or escaped yet. I will receive the official casualty list from the coroner’s office very soon. Once I have it, we can simply cross-reference the names with the official employee roster we have on file for the company."

"Where is the list?" the junior executive demanded impatiently. "It has been two days since the massacre!"

The Legal Counsel’s face flushed with sudden anger. "It takes a significant amount of time and delicate bribery to extract classified information from an active crime scene! It is not an easy process! If you are so incredibly impatient, we can just sit around and wait for the authorities to make the list public next week! And if anyone in this room questions my legal work again, I will personally strangle you!"

He took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down and smooth his expensive tie. "I will have the finalized list very soon."

The Guild Master cleared his throat, looking nervously at the row of wealthy investors. "There is another, significantly more pressing issue."

The lead investor chuckled, waving a hand casually. "There is no need to worry about anything, Guild Master. No matter what the issue is, my partners and I will handle it. We will ensure nothing happens to your guild or your people."

The investor scoffed, his tone dripping with mocking arrogance. "We personally funded The BlueYorker’s Shield and helped them rise to the absolute top from nothing. Now, they are the only officially recognized guild operating in the entirety of District Seven, and they rank among the top corporate guilds in this entire city.

"If the Six Savers simply do exactly what we ask and operate your territory exactly how we instruct you to, you will also become one of the biggest, wealthiest guilds in Blue York."

The other investors chimed in, echoing the exact same arrogant promises of wealth, monopoly, and corporate protection.

The Guild Master waited for them to finish their boastful speeches. He placed both of his hands flat on the conference table and leaned forward.

"The dungeon portal in District Six has completely disappeared," the Guild Master revealed.

The entire room plunged into stunned, absolute silence. The investors stared at him, completely unable to believe their ears.

The lead investor shot up from his chair, his calm demeanor entirely shattered. "How the hell can a stable portal just disappear?! Did someone from your guild secretly clear the dungeon without authorization?!"

"According to the sworn testimonies of our barricade guards," the Guild Master answered, a cold sweat forming on his brow, "someone riding a motorized scooter drove directly into the portal two days ago, and then walked back out early this morning. The dungeon collapsed immediately after. We have been desperately trying to track him down all day, but we have no clue who he is or where he went."
