Live-in Son-in-law
Chapter 1747: Alarm Lights Wailing
“This city is newly built, right?”
Qin Yi looked at the city before him and asked.
Jing Wangyou smiled. “We had no choice. Without Purgatory Trace, the Sword Sect keeps running to the Northern Central State to cause trouble every few days. How can the common folk go without protection? So I built a city here.”
“There are no common folk in this city. It’s all my Netherworld Hall elites living here.”
Qin Yi nodded, following Jing Wangyou as he nodded.
They made their way to an imposing residence; this was where Jing Wangyou and the others lived on normal days.
When they reached the main hall, Jing Wangyou ordered people to prepare wine and dishes.
“I heard Big Brother Qin is here.”
Hearing the voice, Qin Yi looked over and saw Xiaoxi walking in from outside the door.
Qin Yi’s eyes lit up. “How many months has it been?”
Xiaoxi was pregnant.
“Big Brother Qin.” When Xiaoxi saw Qin Yi, she stepped forward and gave a respectful bow.
Qin Yi hurriedly reached out to support her. “You’re pregnant, don’t stand on ceremony. Sit down and talk.”
“Big Brother Qin, it’s already six months.”
Xiaoxi sat down, gently caressing her belly, her face shining with a mother’s radiance.
Qin Yi looked at Jing Wuyan. “Kid, not bad at all.”
Jing Wuyan scratched his head and gave a silly grin.
“Xiaoxi is pregnant and you still let her run this far. What if the fetal Qi gets disturbed? You really don’t know what you’re doing.”
“Big Brother Qin, don’t blame him, I insisted on coming. We’re people of the jianghu, we’re not that delicate.”
Qin Yi burst out laughing, genuinely happy for Jing Wuyan. This kid was going to be a dad.
Then Qin Yi looked at the Blood Flood Dragon and the Medusa Queen. “How are things with you two?”
“Master, we’ve already married.”
The Blood Flood Dragon said with a foolish smile.
Qin Yi was slightly stunned. “So fast? When did it happen?”
“Just last month. Jing Palace Master presided over our wedding.”
Qin Yi nodded in satisfaction. “Since you’re married, you have to shoulder the responsibility. Don’t be so rash. Listen more to the Medusa Queen—she’s much steadier than you.”
“And I told you long ago, once we dissolved the contract, we’d address each other as brothers.”
The Blood Flood Dragon was still in the form of a big halberd. Qin Yi’s mouth twitched slightly as he pictured the Medusa Queen bowing in worship with a big, hard halberd—that image was something else.
“I’m too used to calling you Master. Calling you anything else feels strange.”
Qin Yi shook his head helplessly. “Kid, cultivate properly and strive to take human form soon. Don’t make the Medusa Queen a widow right after getting married.”
“Master, I want that too,” the Blood Flood Dragon said awkwardly.
“If you want it, then put in the effort to cultivate.”
“Yes, I’ll definitely cultivate hard. Master, you’re not leaving this time now that you’re back, right? What about Miss Yun, did she go home?”
Qin Yi chuckled softly. “No, she’s waiting for me somewhere. I’m just passing through and thought I’d come see you all.”
“So Master is still going to leave?”
Qin Yi nodded slightly.
Jing Wangyou said, “Then Little Friend Qin Yi has to stay a few more days, or we won’t agree to it.”
“That’s right, Brother Qin, you have to stay a bit longer this time.”
“No problem.” Qin Yi smiled. “This time I’ll stay until you’re sick of me.”
“Anyone who dares get sick of Master, I, the Blood Flood Dragon, will be the first to deal with them.”
While they were chatting, someone came to report that the food was ready.
“Little Friend Qin Yi, come, let’s eat and talk.”
A group of people went to the side hall where the wine and dishes were already laid out.
“Come, let’s first raise a toast together to Little Friend Qin Yi.”
“Big Brother Qin, I can’t drink, I’ll use tea in place of wine.” Xiaoxi said.
“And me—wait for me…” Xiao Jian shouted as he ran in.
“Come, come, come, let’s all toast Little Friend Qin Yi together. If not for him, who knows how long that vicious war would have dragged on.”
They were all old friends, so gathered together there was naturally no restraint. Cups clinked and wine flowed; before long Qin Yi felt himself getting pretty drunk.
His alcohol tolerance had always been his weak point.
Three rounds of wine, five courses of dishes.
If Qin Yi hadn’t been secretly using Energy Movement to disperse the alcohol, he would probably have crawled under the table long ago.
This drinking bout started in mid-afternoon and didn’t break up until late into the night.
Aside from Qin Yi and pregnant Xiaoxi, who hadn’t drunk, everyone else was dead drunk.
Qin Yi felt a bit immoral about it. If they were judging purely by alcohol tolerance, he should have been the first to pass out.
“Big Brother Qin really has a massive capacity for alcohol.”
Qin Yi’s face was full of embarrassment. Only he knew how many times he had secretly dispersed the alcohol.
“Big Brother Qin, I’ve had people prepare a room for you.”
Qin Yi gave a slight nod.
The others were also helped back to their rooms by the disciples of Netherworld Hall.
Late at night, Qin Yi rose into midair.
Among the clouds, a small boat floated, and Qin Mu was lying on it lazily.
Qin Yi casually tossed a wine jar over.
Qin Mu caught it and said, “Done saying your goodbyes?”
Qin Yi nodded slightly and gave a bitter smile. “I really hate to leave.”
“Parting is always the hardest. But once your cultivation reaches the level mine and Chu Xun’s is at, seeing them will be easy.”
“I don’t know how long that will take.”
Qin Mu laughed. “It won’t be long. Make a trip to the Celestial Battlefield and your cultivation will soar.”
“I remember you said before that Qin Yi was the Celestial controller. What exactly does he do?”
“He’s the Eastern Cangqiong Lord. The lives of billions of living beings are in his hands. The reincarnation of all beings is naturally under his control. If I’m not mistaken, the person you want to save—their Divine Soul should be in Demon King Chu’s hands.”
Qin Yi was shocked. He hadn’t expected Chu Xun’s background to be so immense.
“So there really is reincarnation in this world.”
Qin Mu suddenly fixed his gaze directly on Qin Yi. “Qin Yi, do you want to become this Cangqiong Master?”
Qin Yi’s expression turned odd, and he gave a wry smile. “Is this supreme authority something I can have just because I want it?”
“As long as you nod, the position of Cangqiong Master is yours.”
Vigilance immediately flared up in Qin Yi’s heart. “That simple? Then why don’t you become Cangqiong Master?”
Qin Yi suspected that since Chu Xun was Cangqiong Master, to take that position you’d have to take him out. But someone like that—who could possibly kill him?
Qin Mu took a drink and said lazily, “I have no interest in power or status. If you want to be Cangqiong Master, I can make it happen right away—just say a word to Old Gu.”
“Who’s Old Gu?”
“Old Gu is the Ancient Emperor. He’s the current Cangqiong Master.”
“Didn’t you just say Cangqiong Master was Demon King Chu?”
“Demon King Chu is like me—he’s not interested in power. So he moved Old Gu with emotion and reason, and Old Gu took over Qin Yi’s position.”
Alarm bells instantly went off in Qin Yi’s heart. Such enormous authority, and Demon King Chu actually handed it over to someone else—there was definitely something fishy here.
Qin Mu said, “If you become Cangqiong Master, resurrecting the person you want to save will be as easy as eating or drinking.”
Qin Yi’s eyes lit up. “Then can you take me to meet this Ancient Emperor?”
“You’ve agreed?”
Qin Yi’s gaze flickered slightly. “I’ll think about it.”
“Alright, then this Emperor will take you to see Old Gu.”
“When?”
“Now.”
“Now?” Qin Yi was dumbfounded.
But Qin Mu had already torn open the Void and dragged him inside.
