Chapter 2126: Finale: A New World

  • Next Chapter

“In the year 660 of the New Calendar, a superstorm reached the Northern Continent Border…”

“And then what?”

A three or four-year-old girl with a ponytail, her eyes wide like saucers, blinked at the woman in front of her.

“And then… you should go to bed.”

The young woman draped in a jet-black cloak stood by the bed, smiling, and said, “It’s late, I’ll tell you the rest of the story tomorrow.”

The little girl groaned, “Sister Xiaoman…”

“Call me Aunt.”

Though Gu Xiaoman corrected her, she couldn’t hide the smile on her face.

“Don’t be like that.”

The little girl tugged at Gu Xiaoman’s coat, whining in a sweet, childish voice quite unlike that of a child her age: “Tomorrow when my mom and dad come back, there will be a bunch of things… will you still tell me the rest of the story then?”

“Of course, how could I forget?”

Gu Xiaoman smiled as she reached out to gently stroke the girl’s smooth, white forehead.

There, a tiny crystalline flame was imprinted.

As she touched it, the flame flickered, emitting a warm sensation.

Gu Xiaoman put in quite the effort to coax the little girl into bed, then gently covered her with a sheet, and quietly exited the room.

As the door closed, a gentle voice resonated in the Spirit Sea.

“Xiaoman, today is the day the Genesis ‘Returns’.”

“I see that the highest members are all present, and it seems you’re the only one missing.”

Upon hearing this, Gu Xiaoman smoothed her hair; she’d been busy with Gu Zhaoxi in recent days, not paying much attention to outside affairs.

But she knew today was a particularly important day.

Gu Xiaoman smiled and explained, “Master Bai Xiu, I was just busy coaxing Gu Zhaoxi to sleep, it took a little time.”

“No rush, I’ve been in seclusion, and I’ve just arrived. It’s quite lively here.”

The voice was gentle, “Would you like me to come and get you?”

Gu Xiaoman softly replied with a “hmm.”

The next moment.

Space was torn apart, a portal appeared before Xiaoman, and Bai Xiu, dressed in all white, stood on the other side with his hands behind his back, with a majestic and complete phantom of a Divine General towering behind him. The phantom extended its hands, parting the portal to make way for Gu Xiaoman.

Bai Xiu slightly moved aside.

Gu Xiaoman stepped through the portal to the top of a vast artificial island.

This island was a replica of the “Sangzhou Cave” of old… rebuilt from the vanished maps of the Ice Sea, named “New Island” to commemorate the submersion event of Sangzhou Cave.

Today, New Island was especially lively, fireworks continuously bursting in the night sky.

Atop the mountain, nearly all the highest-ranking members were present.

Below the mountain, people were celebrating.

“Xiaoman.”

“Lord Jiu.”

Gu Xiaoman arrived at the mountaintop through the Thunder Realm portal, greeted by many who nodded in recognition and finally stood beside her master.

“I’m not really good at getting children to sleep.”

Bai Xiu quietly watched the fireworks in the starry sky and smiled as he spoke, “This kind of thing is best left to you.”

“In this regard, your Thunder Realm Walker can’t compare to Dissolving Dream.”

Gu Xiaoman smiled slightly, “Or perhaps your bedtime stories aren’t as interesting as mine.”

“Oh?”

Bai Xiu raised an eyebrow, “Bedtime stories, what are those?”

“…”

Gu Xiaoman was silent for a few seconds, rubbing her brow.

“Lately, I’ve been telling Zhaoxi stories about her father; of course… I left out the specific names.”

Gu Xiaoman smiled wryly, lowering her eyes, “But this little one is very clever; when she reads history in the future, she’ll probably know where this story comes from.”

The world’s most captivating stories are indeed history.

However… the continuation of the story that Gu Zhaoxi wanted to hear didn’t have much left.

Gu Xiaoman deliberately kept it a mystery. The long story she’d been telling was now down to the last little “ending,” which could be finished in a day.

The New Calendar year 660 was the final year of the New Calendar.

Now, the New Calendar had been replaced by the Star Calendar.

The battle at the North Continent Giant Wall saw humanity achieve final victory.

That battle was bleak—all twelve Divine Thrones were grievously injured, starships shattered, Source Energy Boats capsized, and even the Black Silver walls were broken…

But the “superstorm” that engulfed and swallowed the Starship Civilization was completely vanquished.

Only the Transcendents who experienced that battle knew the day’s ferocity.

“Is that so?”

Bai Xiu appeared slightly dazed, and after a long while, he murmured, “That truly was a… long story.”

“No matter how long a story, there is always an ending.”

Gu Xiaoman smiled, “When she wakes up, she’ll know what happened after New Calendar 660. All the grand wars in the history books amount to just a page or even a few lines.”

The Iron Dome Emperor planted the flag on the red soil.

The Lin Family overthrew the Red Emperor regime.

The Three Province Alliance tore down the high walls of the Source Tower and shattered the Sky Divine Domain.

History is always like this.

The torrents roll by, and the “lucky ones” who never lived through the wartime can only glimpse a corner of the light and shadow in the river of time through the seams of book pages.

“Speaking of which, aren’t the fireworks tonight a bit too grand?”

Gu Xiaoman suddenly noticed something amiss.

After the conclusion of the Giant Wall War…

Humans began to rebuild their home.
