Chapter 2226: Chapter 2226: Medicine Shocks the World (11)

After coming down the mountain, to leave, they still had to pass through Golden Cicada Town.

The town was still quiet. Chuzheng figured those people were still scared of this body of hers, hiding and not daring to come out.

But when she walked closer, Chuzheng immediately sensed something was wrong.

There was a blood smell in the air.

The ground was damaged in many places, not the same as when she went up.

All around was dead silent, not even a single insect chirping.

"Stay behind me." Chuzheng instructed Jing Po.

Jing Po smelled the blood: "Has... something happened?"

"Don’t know."

There was only the smell of blood, no corpses in sight.

Chuzheng led Jing Po toward the edge of the town.

When she saw that massive Golden Cicada Stone Carving toppled on the ground, shattered into countless pieces, Chuzheng knew something had definitely happened.

Crash—

Something darted out from the side.

Chuzheng came face to face with it, and that familiar face almost made her lose control.

That was the original owner’s body!

The woman living in it now was called Yan Hongni.

That damn thing actually delivered itself to the door!

Yan Hongni jumped out and, seeing someone, was startled as well, but she quickly had no time to be surprised and ran straight toward the open space.

Rumble—

Buildings collapsed, smoke and dust billowed.

A gigantic Demonic Beasts burst from underground, soared up into midair, casting a shadow that dimmed the light.

Black Demonic Qi coiled around its body, that aura pressing down until people’s hearts seized with panic and they couldn’t breathe.

Chuzheng: "..."

What the hell is this thing?

What did that damn woman provoke!

The Demonic Beasts that flew out charged straight at Yan Hongni, completely ignoring Chuzheng and Jing Po.

Only then did Chuzheng see clearly what this thing was.

Golden Cicada!

Exactly the same as that stone carving.

Alive, breathing, gigantic!

"Why... isn’t it attacking us?" Jing Po felt it was strange.

"Yeah, why indeed." Chuzheng propped herself on the coffin, thinking it over, then said seriously, "Maybe it just likes that person more."

Jing Po: "..."

The reason it was called Golden Cicada was because its color was golden.

The Golden Cicada’s attack was sound-based; that shrill, piercing noise could form actual, physical damage.

This thing was no different, so Chuzheng and Jing Po also suffered.

But most of the attacks went toward Yan Hongni, so things were still relatively easy on Chuzheng’s side.

Yan Hongni was no match for the Golden Cicada.

She was blasted away by a solid attack formed from sound, slammed into a wall, then rolled down to the ground.

Yan Hongni let out a "wah" and spat a mouthful of blood.

Chuzheng couldn’t bear to look, it was too tragic—made her want to go up and add a couple of cuts.

"There’s something in her hand..." Jing Po stretched out a fingertip, pointing at Yan Hongni’s hand braced on the ground.

A faint streak of pale gold peeked out.

Yan Hongni’s palm moved slightly, and that pale gold streak was hidden away in her hand.

Chuzheng’s right arm crossed her chest, left hand using the back of her hand as a prop, fingers supporting her chin as she thought for a few seconds.

The next second Chuzheng flicked her sleeve: "I’ll go snatch it."

Jing Po grabbed Chuzheng’s sleeve, and said weakly, "Um... that Demonic Beasts seems to be going for the thing in her hand."

Chuzheng thought that made sense.

Just now the Demonic Beasts seemed to have drilled up from underground.

"Which is exactly why we have to steal it!" She stole my body, I’ll steal her stuff—what’s wrong with that? Nothing!

As for whether it’s useful or not?

Whatever, grab it first.

If it’s useless, I’ll give it to the Good Person Card to play with.

"???"

What he meant was, this was very dangerous.

-

Jing Po very soon no longer had time to worry about danger, because Yan Hongni suddenly scrambled up and then rushed toward them.

Yan Hongni moved so suddenly that even with Chuzheng’s quick reflexes, she was still a step too slow.

The Golden Cicada dove, its enlarged claws and mouthparts displayed right in front of Chuzheng.

Chuzheng scooped Jing Po into her arms, tossed him into the coffin, and kicked the coffin away in one smooth motion.

The coffin spun and slid off to the side.

Jing Po was spun until his head was dizzy, everything in front of him whirling, then the coffin crashed into something and came to a stop.

A dark shadow dropped down in front of him, and Jing Po looked up, making no move to dodge at all.

Fortunately that thing crashed down beside him and didn’t hit the coffin.

Jing Po’s gaze swiveled twice, and he saw the huge Golden Cicada lying on the ground.

The Golden Cicada let out a mournful cry, flapped its wings once, and leaped back toward the place it had emerged from, disappearing in the blink of an eye.

"That’s exactly it!"

"Chen Yin! It really is her!"

"Chen Yin, stop!"

"Demon Head, cease your slaughter!"

People suddenly appeared, all drawing their weapons, pointing at the two amidst the wreckage.

Chuzheng was standing, Yan Hongni lying on the ground, clutching her bleeding arm.

No matter how you looked at it, it was Yan Hongni being bullied by Chuzheng.

And the group that showed up clearly all knew "her."

"Help... help me..." Yan Hongni, pale-faced, pleaded with the newcomers.

The original owner’s looks weren’t bad, and with Yan Hongni putting on that weak, helpless expression, she instantly evoked a lot of male sympathy and pity.

Sure enough, a man quickly spoke up to comfort her: "Don’t be afraid, miss! We won’t let this Demon Head hurt you."

Chuzheng-the-Demon-Head: "..."

If you’re going to say it like that... then I won’t hold back!

"The whole town’s residents are dead!"

While Chuzheng was deadlocked with them for that short while, more people appeared—they had just gone to check the entire town.

"What?"

"Demon Head, you actually slaughtered the entire town’s villagers!"

"It wasn’t me, I didn’t, don’t talk nonsense!" Chuzheng denied.

"If it wasn’t you, who was it?"

"How should I know." I just went up a mountain; how was I supposed to know the town would be gone when I came back down.

What the hell does this have to do with me!

But the people over there stubbornly believed—

"It must be her."

"Only she would do something like this."

"Right, kill that Demon Head!"

"Kill her!"

"Kill her!!"

Chuzheng’s face was cold and indifferent; she almost said, "With just you lot thinking you can kill me? You’d better buy yourselves coffins first."

Of course, as a big shot, she couldn’t be that rude, so she could only maintain her noble, cold, and aloof posture, sweeping her gaze over them.

"On what basis do you say I did it? Do you have evidence?"

"What evidence do we need? You being here is evidence enough! Don’t you know what sort of things you’ve done?"

"Don’t know." Reason makes one bold!

"..."

That man pointed at Chuzheng for a long time, unable to squeeze out a single word.

Finally his face flushed red and he cursed angrily, "Shameless! No sense of shame!"

"..."

I really don’t know, how does that make me shameless and without shame? Ever heard of basic logic!

"Miss, you tell us, was it her?" Someone turned their gaze to Yan Hongni.

"I... I don’t know, it was already like this when I came." Yan Hongni shook her head. "She suddenly attacked me, I..."

As she spoke, Yan Hongni directly choked up.

Chuzheng honestly wanted to applaud her.

But looking at that face that should have belonged to the original owner, Chuzheng just felt thoroughly disgusted.

So...

Chuzheng hooked her finger, grabbed a wooden spike stuck in the ground beside her, and stabbed it toward Yan Hongni.

"Demon Head, stop!!"
