Chapter 2222: Chapter 2222: Shocking Medicine Amazes the World (7)

Chuzheng ignored Jing Po and sat to the side eating fruit.

"Want some?" Chuzheng had eaten half, then turned her head to ask the boy who was still curled up in the corner of the coffin.

The boy shook his head.

"If you starve to death, don’t blame me."

Chuzheng finished the rest herself.

"What are you doing?" Chuzheng tossed away the pit, turned her head, and saw Jing Po undoing the leg she’d splinted.

The boy trembled slightly at Chuzheng’s sharp bark. The bandage slipped from his hand, all the wraps came loose at once, and the plank fell off his leg.

"I went to all that trouble to tie it up for you." Chuzheng braced herself on the coffin edge, irritated. "Why are you taking it off?"

Jing Po was silent for quite a while, then pointed at the box beside him.

Chuzheng didn’t understand what he meant.

The boy’s voice was weak: "Medicine..."

Only later did Chuzheng figure out that he had medicine that could make wounds heal faster and he wanted to take it apart to re‑apply the medicine.

Chuzheng: "..."

So I did all that for nothing?

Chuzheng stood awkwardly by the coffin, watching the boy treat and bandage his own leg.

His movements were very practiced, like he’d done it hundreds and thousands of times.

"What do you do?"

The boy fixed the gauze in place and, several seconds later, slowly answered, "...I... practice... medicine."

"A doctor?"

Jing Po looked at her in confusion.

Chuzheng changed the word: "A healer?"

He understood that word, and Jing Po nodded slightly.

"Oh."

Chuzheng glanced at his leg, had nothing else to say, and turned to leave.

-

With Jing Po’s injured leg, getting himself out of the coffin was basically impossible.

Chuzheng had given him food but he hadn’t eaten it, so later he could only hold his stomach, eyes helplessly staring up at the swaying leaves overhead, as if something edible might fall down from there.

A crimson fruit suddenly dropped into the boy’s arms.

His pupils trembled slightly. He lowered his head to look at the fruit, then looked around.

The girl wasn’t there.

This fruit?

The fruit gave off a lightly sweet scent that had his stomach growling all on its own.

Jing Po could tell at a glance what fruit it was, whether it was poisonous, whether it could be eaten.

Hunger made Jing Po hesitantly reach out, take hold of the fruit, and, like a tiny hamster, clutch his food while looking around furtively.

In the end he lowered his head and took a small bite.

Leaning against a tree behind him, Chuzheng watched out of the corner of her eye as Jing Po ate the fruit, bite by bite.

She tossed the fruit in her hand upward. The next second it flew into the air, curved through the air in an arc, and landed squarely in the boy’s arms.

Chuzheng watched him do exactly the same thing as before—check his surroundings first, and only then eat.

He really did look exactly like a hamster sneaking food.

After Chuzheng had tossed him several fruits, she rubbed her chin and pondered: this Good Person Card... might be a bit dumb?

Random fruit falling out of nowhere only made him a little wary, and he quickly decided it must have dropped from the tree.

If that’s not dumb, what is?

That tree only had leaves, where would fruit be growing?

He wasn’t just a little dumb, his reactions were slow too.

When Chuzheng talked to him, every time he needed a few seconds before he slowly answered.

Someone like this can be a healer?

Won’t he end up mis‑treating his patients?

Chuzheng was very doubtful.

After Jing Po finished eating, Chuzheng waited a while, then made some noise as she walked out.

Jing Po was sitting against the coffin, hugging his knees. His silver‑white hair was loose, exposing only that delicate doll‑like face, pale and bloodless.

Chuzheng hauled the coffin away from there.

She’d originally planned to wait at Sunrise City for Meng Weihan, that pair of dogs, but now that Sunrise City was gone, she had no choice but to move on and play it by ear.

In the original host’s memories, Sunrise City was still perfectly fine for a long time.

This time, for some unknown reason, it disappeared so much earlier...

Could it be because of her?

Chuzheng couldn’t figure it out and simply tossed the thought away.

If you can’t figure something out, then don’t think about it. It’s not like thinking harder will make it clear.

Chuzheng traveled with Jing Po for several days.

Along the way, Jing Po hardly spoke. The only time he talked was to say he wanted to get out of the coffin and walk on his own.

Chuzheng unceremoniously pushed him back down and threatened that if he dared get out, she’d break his other leg too.

The boy was scared badly and didn’t bring it up again.

So most of the time he spent fiddling with the things in his box.

He didn’t show much resistance or confusion about Chuzheng taking him along.

Chuzheng was increasingly convinced he really was dumb.

With someone this dumb, would it be easy to trick him...

"We’re resting here today."

Jing Po lifted his head, pupils reflecting the dense layers of trees. The setting sun hung from the branches, dyeing everything in gorgeous colors.

Jing Po closed up his box and carefully grabbed the coffin edge to climb out. The instant his foot touched the ground, an arm supported him.

"Your leg’s healed?" A cold voice without a trace of emotion sounded by his ear.

"...Healed. It’s healed." Jing Po tried moving his injured leg to show Chuzheng the actual situation.

After he spoke, Jing Po suddenly realized he was being supported by Chuzheng. He retreated slightly, leaned against the coffin, and pulled his arm free of her hand.

Chuzheng hadn’t been using any strength, so when he struggled, she simply let go.

Her right leg bent slightly as she crouched down and lifted the hem of his pants.

Jing Po blinked, apparently not knowing what she was trying to do.

While he was still processing, Chuzheng quickly raised his pant leg and checked his wound.

The bandages on his leg had already been removed by Jing Po at some point, and it looked fine.

Chuzheng reached out and squeezed, and only then did Jing Po’s delayed reaction finally arrive: "You... what are you doing?"

"Checking your injury."

"I... I’m fine. N‑no... need." The face that had always been rather pale now held a faint blush.

"I need to make sure before I know you’re fine." I don’t care what you think; I care what I think!

"..."

Jing Po’s lips parted, but for a long moment no words came out.

Once Chuzheng was sure there was no problem, she dropped his pant leg back down and straightened it. "Your medicine’s pretty impressive."

Jing Po shuffled his foot back. With the coffin at his back he couldn’t move, but he still tried to scoot away.

He said in a small voice, "My... my medical skills are very good."

"Then you’re very impressive too." Chuzheng praised casually as she braced herself on the coffin to stand.

When Chuzheng straightened up, the distance between them shrank, and the pressure on Jing Po only increased.

With Chuzheng leaning on the coffin edge and Jing Po’s back pressed to the coffin wall, from afar it looked like a wall‑dong... coffin‑dong?

Whatever kind of dong it was, the posture was very ambiguous.

Chuzheng held that pose without moving, her gaze falling on his silver hair. "Can your hair go back to normal?"

Your hair suddenly going white overnight has me a bit on edge, you know.

The afterglow of sunset filtered through the overlapping leaves, Bits and Pieces of light falling over the boy’s white clothes, dappled into warm shadows.

Chuzheng thought he wasn’t going to answer and was already planning to give up.

Who knew that just as she loosened one finger, she heard the boy whisper, "...It can."

"When will it go back?"

Chuzheng already knew he needed time to speak, so she waited patiently.

"In... seven days."

Seven days?

It had already been three days since he turned into this, so it’s a ten‑day cycle?
