Chapter 2170: Chapter 2170: Mr. Zombie (29)
When Chuzheng found Zhikai and his group, they were being chased by zombies, playing a game of survival escape. Seeing Chuzheng’s car, the group looked like they’d seen a savior and ran towards her.
The big shot finally arrived.
No need to die!
Following Zhikai were some newly rescued survivors. Seeing so many zombies blocking the way ahead, they all stopped.
Zombies...
So many.
They were densely packed, almost blocking the entire street.
Yet those at the front didn’t dare to stop running through.
"Are you crazy!" someone shouted.
"Stop!"
So many zombies, trying to run through like this, was a death sentence...
The crowd could almost see their fate, but soon, a strange scene unfolded before them.
The zombies actually parted, making way for them to pass!
What happened?
Was the world now a fantasy, or were they dreaming as a group?
Those who caught up behind were initially horrified by the sight of the zombies opposite, but upon seeing the car among the zombies, they quickly calmed down.
"Hurry, go across!"
They immediately urged the survivors.
"But those are zombies!" Though some got through, it didn’t mean they believed it was safe to cross.
"It’s okay, it’s safe, everyone hurry. The zombies are coming from behind as well."
The officials saw they were reluctant to move, so a few went ahead to lead the way.
"..."
Gritting their teeth, the survivors followed.
Even when safely running into the zombie group, none of the zombies attacked; besides being shocked, the survivors found it eerie.
Would they really not attack them?
How was this possible?
Could zombies be controlled?!
Zhikai and a few others were panting against a car amidst the zombie crowd. A little girl stood at the car door, looking at them expressionlessly.
The look in her eyes...
A bit unsettling.
Next to her stood a boy, immaculately clean, with a tall build, wearing a hat and mask, obscuring his appearance completely.
Someone that clean was almost unheard of in the apocalypse.
"Who is she?"
"What’s with these zombies?"
The crowd whispered among themselves.
"Ah——"
"Huff huh!!"
Suddenly, someone standing at the edge screamed and lunged towards the group. The zombies behind seemed riled up, as if they wanted to attack.
"Kill it, kill it, it’s going to eat me!!" The person exclaimed in terror.
"Huff huff huff!!" The zombies growled at them.
The crowd grew restless too.
"If you don’t provoke them first, they won’t attack you."
A calm, steady voice broke through the eerie atmosphere.
The person didn’t care who said it, screaming, "I didn’t provoke them!"
"You didn’t provoke them?" Chuzheng walked over, "Are you sure?"
"I..." That person met Chuzheng’s gaze, suddenly faltered, "I... I didn’t."
Chuzheng suddenly grabbed them, pushing them toward the zombies.
The zombies got excited, but Chuzheng just gave them a look and didn’t stop them.
"Ahhhh..." The person screamed in fear.
"What are you doing!"
The survivors shouted as well.
"Let him go, are you crazy!"
Chuzheng ignored the shouting, "Did you provoke them first?"
The zombies snarled right in his face, scaring him so much that his legs turned to jelly, a warm stream trickled down his pants, filling the air with an indescribable smell.
"Yes... it was me... let me go, let me go!!" he screamed.
Chuzheng shoved him back towards the survivors, speaking coldly, "If you provoke them, deal with the consequences yourself, don’t make a fuss here."
Everyone: "..."
-
Chuzheng brought the zombies over to assist, and still received some Thank-You Cards.
Chuzheng figured most of those Thank-You Cards probably came from the officials; as for these survivors...
It’s not being prejudiced, but from people like them, she rarely received any Thank-You Cards.
Being a good person was hard work.
"Miss Ji, our captain hasn’t returned yet, could you..."
They came over to negotiate with Chuzheng about assisting their captain.
"Well, I could, but..." Chuzheng paused slightly, "If I save him, you will thank me, right?"
She had to quickly complete the Thank-You Cards to unlock the Good Person Card name.
She mustn’t slack off in the future, she had to work hard!
[The way you work hard is really...]
Chuzheng: What?
[...fascinating.] The King’s Account was eager to survive.
They didn’t quite understand what this was about, but if she really saved the captain, thanking her was a given.
"Of course."
"Good, but if you go back on your word, I’ll throw your captain back."
"!!!"
What kind of devil is this!
With zombies at her disposal, saving someone was easy. Xia Li was quickly brought back by the zombies.
The zombies followed, jostling each other, resembling a principal leading a group of unruly students.
"Thank you very much today, Miss Ji." Xia Li was genuinely grateful to Chuzheng.
"No need, your people paid me."
"Hmm??" Xia Li looked at the others, What did you pay with?
The others shrugged innocently, all they did was... say a few words of thanks?
Did that count as payment?
Chuzheng’s strange behavior wasn’t new, Xia Li had somewhat gotten used to it and didn’t inquire further.
Xia Li: "We found some supplies over there, Miss Ji, would you like to join us?"
That was undoubtedly an offer to share the supplies.
Chuzheng glanced at Zhikai and his group, nodded, and turned to get in the car.
The man who’d been standing outside the car immediately approached as she moved.
Xia Li had seen him a few times.
It was said he was one of hers...
There was something off about him, but Xia Li couldn’t quite pin it down.
Returning with loads of supplies, the team was thrilled, it meant they had food.
The rescued survivors were placed at a spot where they could see Chuzheng’s group.
"Who are those people... How can they be with the zombies?" someone couldn’t resist asking the team.
"Them, Captain Xia said they’re escorting us to the base." That person felt unexpectedly proud, although not knowing why.
"How can they command zombies? Aren’t zombies man-eating monsters?"
"I don’t know..." the person shook his head.
"Could it be a special ability from a novel, like communicating with zombies?" someone speculated.
"How is that possible? We’re all ordinary people, the stuff in novels is all fake."
"Well, you never know, what if they’re different."
"..."
That’s about all the information the newly added survivors could get.
They looked towards the back, seeing the zombies wobbling along, almost endless.
