Landlord in the Arctic
Chapter 631 - 412: Problem
The crowd on the pier gradually dispersed.
But everyone was still thinking about that precious wild large yellow croaker.
For some time to come, this hundred-thousand-yuan large yellow croaker was sure to become a hot topic of conversation.
Some of the smarter ones even ran directly to the yacht to ask the captain where the fish had been caught.
If one could be caught there, a school of them must be nearby.
Inside the car, Su Yang stared at the large yellow croaker, a look of longing on his face.
"Brother Feng, are you sure we're not eating it tonight? How about this? I'll buy some imported Norwegian salmon just for Xiaohua. Salmon is more nutritious for pregnant women, anyway."
"Exactly! Salmon is way more nutritious than a large yellow croaker!" Zhang Kai chimed in, his face full of anticipation.
Gazing at the two expectant men, Feng Mountain said nothing. He silently pulled the bag with the fish closer to him and spoke to the driver.
"Taishan Mansion and Renmin Road Primary School, please. Thank you."
Su Yang and Zhang Kai exchanged a look and shrugged helplessly.
They knew that Feng Mountain doted on Xiaohua. He was definitely going to give the fish to her.
They had wanted to call their whole crew together for a grand yellow croaker banquet to show it off.
Looks like that wasn't happening now.
Showing off cars, houses, or women was so passé these days.
In their circle, if you were going to show off, you flaunted something money couldn't buy.
And this wild large yellow croaker was, without a doubt, one of those incredibly precious rarities that money could hardly buy.
But now that Feng Mountain was giving it to his sister, the two of them had no choice but to abandon the idea.
The car drove smoothly down the road, but the atmosphere inside was a little dreary.
Su Yang and Zhang Kai kept glancing at the bag with the fish, their eyes full of regret.
Feng Mountain, however, guarded the bag protectively. He was already imagining Xiaohua's delighted expression when she received the fish.
An unconscious smile crept onto his lips.
Soon, the car pulled up beside Renmin Road Primary School.
Zhang Kai, looking dispirited, pointed through the car window at a shop across the street with a sign reading "Flower Supermarket."
"There. That's Xiaohua's supermarket. You can go on your own."
Su Yang, on the other hand, was still excited. He asked, "Hey, little bro, you free tomorrow? Let's go sea fishing again, but let's head out farther this time!"
Feng Mountain politely declined. "Maybe some other time. I think I'll be spending the next couple of days with Xiaohua and the others. We'll see after that."
In reality, Feng Mountain knew he had used special means to fish this time and felt no sense of accomplishment.
Besides, his time back in the country was limited.
There were still many important matters waiting for him back in the Crown Territory.
He really couldn't spare any more time for fishing.
With that, Feng Mountain waved goodbye to them, picked up the case of Coca-Cola that had been sitting beside him, and got out of the car with the bag.
He crossed the street and walked up to the entrance of Ando Supermarket.
The automatic glass doors sensed his approach and slid open with a recorded "Welcome!" as light spilled out from within.
Stepping into the supermarket, he was greeted by a clean and bright interior.
Evenly distributed LED strips on the ceiling made the space feel airy, while pale beige walls complemented the natural wood shelving.
The shelves were artfully stocked with a dazzling array of drinks, puffy snacks, and colorful candies—clearly arranged to appeal to the students from the elementary school across the street.
In contrast, the section for household goods was noticeably cramped, consisting of only a few shelves, some of which still had empty dividers.
The supermarket was bustling, and a decent-sized line had already formed at the checkout counter.
About seventy percent of the customers were adults in work uniforms or casual clothes. They held bags of snacks or bottled drinks, their eyes occasionally glancing toward the door, clearly waiting for their children to be dismissed from school.
The other thirty percent were mostly gray-haired seniors, pushing small shopping carts and leisurely picking out items on sale.
On a bench near the door, several parents were chatting quietly amongst themselves.
One of the women was vividly recounting a funny story about her child at school.
The others around her would occasionally let out a knowing laugh or nod in agreement.
The murmur of conversation mixed with the sound of children playing between the aisles, filling the supermarket with a lively, everyday warmth.
Feng Mountain stood there holding the Coca-Cola, a lazy tabby cat curled in the crook of his arm. A faint splashing sound came from the black bag in his other hand, causing the supermarket staff to turn and stare.
A few employees who were restocking shelves stopped what they were doing, whispering to each other as they sized up the unexpected visitor.
He didn't look anything like a parent waiting to pick up their child.
"Hello, can I help you find something?" a young female employee with a ponytail asked, putting down the price gun in her hand and walking over.
Her eyes scanned Feng Mountain's outfit with curiosity, but her tone remained professionally polite.
Feng Mountain turned. Noticing the girl take a half-step back, he realized he must have startled her. He quickly offered a gentle smile. "Are Hu Zi and Black Hide around?"
'Hu Zi and Black Hide?'
The employee blinked, then her expression of wariness instantly changed to one of dawning realization, as if she'd just remembered something.
"You mean Manager Zheng Xin and Manager Wang Hua?"
She then pointed to a frosted glass door at the back of the supermarket with a "Staff Only" sign. "Manager Wang has stepped out, but Manager Zheng is in the office. I can take you to him."
'Zheng Xin and Wang Hua!'
Hearing these two names, both familiar and foreign, Feng Mountain felt the corners of his lips curve into a smile that reached his eyes.
Hu Zi's real name was Zheng Xin. It was a unique tradition at the orphanage.
Whenever the orphanage took in an orphan with no name, they would assign them one following the order of the *Hundred Family Surnames*.
The year Hu Zi arrived, it happened to be the turn for the "Zheng" surname. Xiaohua, who came to the orphanage that same year, was thus given the name Zheng Yan, which meant "to bloom as beautifully as a flower."
