Landlord in the Arctic

Chapter 626 - 409: Benefits 2

  • Next Chapter

"President Feng, is everything you said true?" a young employee with a ponytail couldn't help but blurt out, her voice trembling with disbelief.

Before Feng Shan could respond, a chorus of voices rose up in agreement.

"Oh my god, these benefits are insane!"

"Am I dreaming?"

Feng Shan smiled and raised a hand to quiet everyone down, his gentle gaze sweeping across the room.

"I'm a man of my word. These promises will all be written in black and white in the new employee handbook."

He paused deliberately after speaking and turned his gaze to Ouyang Xue. "Of course, the implementation of these benefits will depend on Vice President Ouyang's overall planning. From now on, I will be permanently based in Alaska, and Vice President Ouyang will have full authority over all company matters. Her decisions will be my decisions."

Ouyang Xue felt dozens of gazes instantly focus on her. She rose calmly and gave a slight nod.

"Please rest assured, everyone. I will communicate with each department to ensure every benefit is implemented. I also hope for everyone's full cooperation in making Crown Territory an industry benchmark."

"Each and every one of you is Crown Territory's most precious asset." Feng Shan drew everyone's attention back to himself, his voice growing passionate. "Here, you can not only achieve your career ambitions but also live a life of dignity and warmth. As long as we all pull together, I guarantee that within a year, everyone in this room will be the envy of our peers!"

CLAP! CLAP! CLAP!!

The moment Feng Shan finished speaking, all the employees shot to their feet in unison, their faces filled with excitement. The applause was thunderous and unending.

Seeing this, Feng Shan again raised his hand and gestured downwards, signaling for everyone to quiet down.

Once the applause gradually died down, he calmly stood up, slowly moved away from the head of the table, and looked warmly at Ouyang Xue as he spoke.

"Vice President Ouyang, from now on, this chair is yours. I'm leaving all the company's affairs in your capable hands!"

Before Ouyang Xue had a chance to react, Feng Shan pulled her to the chair.

With a gentle push on her shoulders, she sat down, still a bit dazed.

Then, Feng Shan gave the employees a suave wave, a confident smile on his face, and walked out of the conference room.

His retreating figure exuded an air of carefree ease.

In the conference room, a whole roomful of people were left staring at each other in bewilderment.

Everyone was a little baffled by their boss's actions.

For a moment, no one spoke, and the atmosphere grew a little awkward.

After a while, someone finally broke the silence in a hushed voice.

"This boss... he sure doesn't mess around..."

Ouyang Xue gradually came to her senses and forced herself to calm down.

'Because she knew, from this moment on, the weight on her shoulders was even heavier.'

'But at the same time, this was also a perfect opportunity to prove her abilities.'

She immediately straightened her spine, her gaze firm as she looked out at all the employees, and began to speak slowly.

"Everyone, rest assured. Since the boss trusts me this much, I will not let him down. From now on, let's all work hard together and grow the company's business!"

...

After leaving the conference room, Feng Shan stood alone in the empty hallway.

Only then did his tense nerves finally relax, and he let out a long sigh.

He thought back on his speech in the conference room.

'He was secretly glad he'd listened to all that boasting from that old crook, Lao Deng, back in prison.'

'And that he'd read so many of the books his grandpa had left at Crown Camp—all that stuff about management and business.'

'Plus, Grandma Frank's daily teachings, both by word and example, had taught him a lot about how to conduct himself and run a business.'

'It was all of that combined that allowed him to face the company employees without looking like a novice, hold his own, and avoid making a fool of himself.'

The thought of confidently entrusting the company's affairs to Ouyang Xue and becoming a hands-off boss made Feng Shan feel much more relaxed.

In truth, this was a decision he had made after careful consideration.

Ouyang Xue's competence in the tourism industry was obvious to all, and Zhang Kai's strong recommendation had also filled him with confidence in her.

Having such a capable manager would be a great thing for the company's future development.

'Still, even as a hands-off boss, my responsibilities aren't light.'

'There was still a whole mess of things waiting for me back at Crown Camp: rebuilding the camp, planning upgrades, constructing roads, purchasing fishing boats, forming a fleet... '

Feng Shan rubbed his temples.

He sighed to himself.

'Even if I could clone myself, I'd probably still have trouble handling so many things.'

After collecting his thoughts, Feng Shan headed for the office, planning to talk with Zhang Kai again.

He wanted to hear his thoughts on the travel agency's future development.

He also wanted to discuss the travel arrangements for the upcoming trip to Alaska.

Feng Shan walked into the office and immediately saw Zhang Kai with his legs crossed, leisurely sipping tea.

An inexplicable wave of irritation washed over him.

'While I was in the conference room nervously dealing with the employees, he's just in here taking it easy.'

Seeing Feng Shan return from the meeting, Zhang Kai unhurriedly set down his teacup, stood up, and with a mischievous grin, deliberately provoked him, "Finished already? I'm heading out then. I have plans to go out on the water with Su in a bit!"

"Wait, I'm coming with you!" Feng Shan said quickly.

Zhang Kai was stunned for a moment, a confused look on his face. "What are you coming with us for? You just got to the company and you're already leaving? That's so irresponsible!"

"I just said in the meeting that Vice President Ouyang is in charge of the company from now on. I only need to handle things on the Crown Territory side," Feng Shan said with a sly laugh, a smug look on his face for having found the perfect excuse.

"You..." Zhang Kai shook his head and laughed in resignation, picking up the bag on his desk. "Let's go. Su is still waiting for me at the docks."

The two of them left the office and walked toward the elevator.

Along the way, Feng Shan's mood was noticeably lighter. The thought of being able to relax out at sea made his steps feel brisker.

Meanwhile, Zhang Kai walked beside him, occasionally reminding Feng Shan about various company matters. Though he looked annoyed on the surface, deep down, he was still concerned about his friend.

The two took the elevator down to the building's first-floor pet drop-off to pick up Coca-Cola.

As they approached,

Feng Shan saw the young staff member sitting by the door, his face frighteningly pale and his expression one of lingering panic.

His heart sank as he wondered to himself.

'Don't tell me I guessed right. Did Coca-Cola really beat up all those dogs?!'

At this thought, he quickened his pace and strode into the room.

As soon as he entered, he saw Coca-Cola lying lazily on a soft cushion, looking completely unconcerned.

Meanwhile, the Golden Retriever, Corgi, and Teddy were all huddled obediently in a corner, not daring to move a muscle.

Their eyes were filled with terror, as if they had been petrified by something horrifying.

Funnier still, when the dogs' eyes landed on Feng Shan, they looked so overjoyed they were about to cry, as if they had just seen their savior.

Feng Shan didn't know whether to laugh or be angry at the sight.

Looking back at Coca-Cola, the cat seemed completely unaware of the psychological trauma it had inflicted on these dogs.

"Coca-Cola, let's go!" Feng Shan called out, raising his voice to the cat lying on the cushion.

Coca-Cola unhurriedly sat up, casually turned its head, and glanced indifferently at the other dogs.

That single glance seemed to carry an invisible, intimidating power.

It instantly made the dogs tremble violently in fear.

Tufts of fur fell to the floor as they shook.

"Sir, your kitten beat up these dogs. If their owners find out, not only will they complain about me, but they'll also demand compensation!" the young staff member in charge of the pets complained to Feng Shan, his eyes red and his voice choked with tears.

"Sorry, I'm so sorry!" Feng Shan said, quickly scooping up Coca-Cola and apologizing profusely. He then added, "If their owners want compensation, go to the Crown Leader Travel Agency and find Vice President Ouyang. She'll take care of everything."

"Really? You're not just going to run off, are you?" the young staffer asked, his eyes red and full of suspicion as he stared intently at Feng Shan.

He was terrified the promise would be empty. After all, if this man really did run off, he would have no way to afford the compensation.

"Don't worry, I already called your property management. You won't get in trouble," Zhang Kai said with a gentle smile, waving his phone as he explained. He then looked at Coca-Cola, nestled lazily in Feng Shan's arms, and joked, "Beating up dogs is nothing. Our Coca-Cola has fought tigers and wolves before!"

MEOW!

As if understanding Zhang Kai's praise, Coca-Cola squirmed comfortably in Feng Shan's arms and let out a lazy cry.

Feng Shan gently patted Coca-Cola's head and said to the staff member, "We have other things to do, so we'll be leaving. Don't worry too much; someone will take care of it."

With that, he and Zhang Kai turned and left the pet drop-off room.

The staff member stood rooted to the spot.

Watching their retreating backs, the worry in his heart finally lessened somewhat.

'I hope it's really like they said and I don't end up having to pay for this and lose my job.'
