Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear

Chapter 795

Chapter 795

Bear-san Going Home

We left the mansion and walked through the town.

“I wonder if Lize-san will be okay?” (Yuna)

“You saw her face. Being prepared is better than not being prepared. Even if difficulties await, as long as she has her family, she’ll be fine. She’s not alone.” (Kagali)

Family.

She certainly was not alone. She had kind parents and an older sister that looked younger than her.

And there was also Bende-san and the others who had worked hard together with her.

“There’s no point in us worrying about this. It’s Lize’s own problem. And there areit’s the people around her who can support her.” (Kagali)

There was nothing more we could do for her as we were about to leave this place.

“If you’re so worried, you can always come and see her. You promised to come and see her. You can ask her then if she’s in trouble. There’s no point in worrying now.” (Kagali)

“That’s right.” (Yuna)

We’ll worry about Lize-san the next time we come for a visit.

For now, all we could do was believe in her.

After parting ways with Lize-san and the others, we walked around, checking the current state of the town.

Some people glanced at me, and occasionally I heard the word “bear,” but no one called out to me.

The frozen town had been quiet for three years, but now that the frozen town had thawed, people were moving about like swarms.

Everyone was really alive.

Even the places that I had walked through several times had completely transformed from when they were frozen.

And then we reached the place where the Ice Dragon had first landed, the fountain.

Rope had been strung around the ruined area to prohibit entry, and nearby there were flowers and people crying.

“Looks like someone died.” (Kagali)

The damage was not zero.

With the sudden appearance of the Ice Dragon, having only this much damage, could be said to be minimal damage. After all, it was the work of a dragon.

If that giant dragon had moved around the town, the damage would have been much greater.

But that didn’t mean I could tell the people mourning their loved ones that “it was alright because there was only minimal damage”.

“Some lives can be saved, and some cannot. You don’t need to worry about it.” (Kagali)

“Yeah.” (Yuna)

I didn’t think that I could save all lives, either.

The Ice Dragon appeared before we came here. There was nothing I could do about that.

In the first place, I wasn’t even in this world three years ago.

We passed by the buildings destroyed by the Ice Dragon and moved on.

Just as Bollard-san said, the residents were working as if they didn’t even know that they were frozen by the Ice Dragon for three years.

The children were running around happily.

“I wonder if really no one noticed that they’ve been frozen for three years.” (Yuna)

“Well, even Lize’s mother and the servants in that house didn’t notice.” (Kagali)

If town residents had really noticed it, there would have likely been a big fuss.

No one knew the hardships Lize-san and the others had gone through.

“I feel sorry for Lize-san and the others.” (Yuna)

Lize-san and the others had been watching over the town for three years, even with the Ice Dragon around.

Six people on a deserted island with no help, surviving along with the strongest creature, a dragon. Just thinking about it was terrifying.

If it weren’t for Bear Gear, I would have been unable to do anything and would have died.

Those six people lived by helping each other.

When I thought about that, I felt indescribable emotions.

“There are people in this world who are even more unfortunate. People from rich families, people from poor families. People with parents, people without parents. As well as people with healthy bodies, people with sick bodies. And people who can use magic, people who can’t. No two people are the same. Everyone is born into different environments. It’s our destiny.” (Kagali)

“…destiny” (Yuna)

“That’s why people try hard, and try to move in a slightly better direction.” (Kagali)

Some people practice swordsmanship and become swordsmen or adventurers.

Some people study and become merchants.

Even among the children in the orphanage, there were children who wanted to become bakers.

“Of course, I don’t think that everyone can be happy even if they put in the effort. However, that opportunity will not come to those who do nothing.” (Kagali)

Happiness would not come if you wait without doing anything.

Only those who moved forward and worked hard would have the chance to grab it.

“So, whether you become unhappy about the situation or not is all up to you.” (Kagali)

Kagali-san was really an adult, despite her appearance.

“By the way, what are you going to do about that bear?” (Kagali)

“What bear?” (Yuna)

“Big bear you brought out to protect the town from the cold air that the Ice Dragon exhaled.” (Kagali)

“…I forgot about them.” (Yuna)

I was planning to remove them before going.

But I had forgotten about it because of all the things that happened.

If Kagali-san hadn’t told me, I would have just gone home.

We went towards the giant bear that I had created with earth magic, which came into view after we passed behind a building.

I headed towards the giant bear statue, where people were gathered.

“What is this bear?”

“It was here when I woke up yesterday.”

“And what is this mark on the ground?”

“It looks like something bigamazing landed on the ground.”

The ground had marks left by the Ice Dragon’s snowstorm.

“It looks like this bear protected it from something.”

It protected themit from the Ice Dragon’s snowstorm.

While we were watching the crowd, more and more people gathered.

“We can’t retrieve it like this.” (Yuna)

If we retrieve it suddenly, we would be questioned.

“Shouldn’t we report this to the lord?” (Stranger 1)

“Yeah. We should report this to the Adventurer Guild too.” (Stranger 21)

The matter was getting bigger and bigger.

As I was wondering what to do, a man looked at me.

“Bear?”

Then, looking at the stone bear statue, he muttered, “Bear?”

The man’s muttering spread.

Soon, everyone’s eyes were on me.

“I guess I have no choice but to give up.” (Yuna)

So, I had no choice but to leave the bear statue like this?

“If we suddenly remove it, it will cause a commotion. If that happens, it will be troublesome the next time we come.” (Kagali)

What Kagali said made sense.

Ugh, I should have removed it yesterday.

“Do you know this bear?” (Random Person)

“No, I don’t.” (Yuna)

I quickly pretended to have no connection with it.

“I see.” (Random Person)

The man continued to look at me suspiciously.

“Well, there’s no way a young girl like her can make a bear statue like that in one night.” (Another Person)

It looked like more people would gather if we stayed any longer, so Kagali-san and I quickly left the scene.

“With so many people here, we can’t retrieve it.” (Yuna)

I could have forcefully retrieved it and run away, but I didn’t want to cause a commotion, considering that we might come here again in the future.

If I wasn’t dressed like a distinctive bear, I could have still retrieved it.

After all, my bear outfit stood out.

If I changed my clothes, I think people wouldn’t notice me, but I couldn’t just take off this cursed bear outfit.

We moved away from the giant bear statue and then even further away from the town.

The town was not surrounded by walls, so we could leave from anywhere.

After leaving the town, I summoned Swaying Bear and Hugging Bear.

“So, where are we going to put that (Bear Transfer Gate)?” (Kagali)

Kagali-san, riding Swaying Bear, asked.

Yesterday, I was thinking of placing a Bear Transfer Gate a little further away from the town, in a place where Lize-san and the others couldn’t get close.

But now, Lize-san and the others were not the only ones that I would be dealing with.

I needed to place the Bear Transfer Gate in an area that wouldn’t be noticed by any of the townsfolk.

“What should we do?” (Yuna)

I told Kagali-san what I was thinking.

“You’re right. A place that won’t be noticed by six people and a place that won’t be noticed by all the townsfolk is a different story.” (Kagali)

Kagali-san thought for a moment.

“That place might be good.”

Kagali-san said that on the way from Targui to this place, we saw a small island.

“No one could get near that small island unless they had a boat. And even if they had a boat, no one would go there without a reason.” (Kagali)

Indeed.

The fishermen around here only catch seafood, and they never land on the island.

Even large ships only travelled between towns and never went to a small island.

In the first place, if there was nothing on the island, no one would land on it.

“These guys (Bears) can run on the sea, so there shouldn’t be a problem.” (Kagali)

I decided to go with Kagali-san’s suggestion.

Swaying Bear and Hugging Bear, carrying Kagali-san and me, jumped out into the sea and ran towards a small island visible from the shore.

There were about three small islands, and we landed on one with a small sandy beach.

Going a little further in, the trees were overgrown, and it looked like no one had been here.

I used wind magic to cut down the overgrown grass and make a path.

Then, I used earth magic to harden the path so that it would become paved with stones.

“You’re too meticulous about this, you know?” (Kagali)

“Well, even you would hate it if the path is covered with grass the next time we come here, right?” (Yuna)

Well, in my previous life, I was living in an apartment, so I never really had a chance to mow grass.

Since coming to this world, I’ve had to deal with weeds many times.

Weeds grew even in the place where I built my Bear House.

I would usually leave it be because I find it too much of a hassle to deal with, but Fina and Shuri would usually clean it up for me.

When I tried using magic to remove the weeds before, they got angry at me and told me that, “You have to remove weeds by the roots, or they will grow back quickly.”

But removing weeds by the roots was too much trouble, so this time I laid down cobblestones.

This way, weeds shouldn’t grow either.

I decided to set up the Bear Transfer Gate in the center of the island.

In this position, the Bear Transfer Gate couldn’t be seen from the outside.

I opened the door of the Bear Transfer Gate.

Beyond the door was the Land of Wa, and a room floored with tatami mats.

I was finally back home.

My only regret was that I wasn’t able to retrieve the bear statue.

Next time, I would come back at night and retrieve it.
