Chapter 545: Chapter 490: The Shackles of United Will, the Final Sword
’This Elf... Has she gone mad? To willingly allow the dark and filthy essence of the Spider Queen Rose to corrupt her very being for a battle she has no chance of winning?’
Yemiga’s mind, built on logic and calculation, could hardly comprehend such a self-destructive and irrational act—one with no conceivable "gain."
However, before he could fully recover from the shock of Avril’s frenzied and resolute act...
The sound of a lute, as if carrying an endless, gentle sigh of regret, mingled with a whisper that spoke directly to the soul. Like the most tender yet sorrowful tide, it washed over the edge of his consciousness without warning.
The sound was laden with dejection, sorrow, loss, and the bitterness of unrequited love...
All manner of negative emotions born of "failure" and "regret."
It was so potent, so real, that even his inhuman mind faltered, lapsing into a momentary trance.
"The Love God... Tress..."
Yemiga whispered the name almost subconsciously, a wave of revulsion and annoyance surging up from the core of his being.
He shook his head sharply, trying to banish this mind-disturbing "static" and regain his absolute Concentration.
But in that instant, with his mind disturbed, he was a beat too slow to react to another surge of Energy from below.
"BOOM!"
A beam of dark red light, as scorching and heavy as the core of a furnace, roared up from the ruins like a meteor in reverse, instantly appearing high above his head.
The light was not just scattered Energy; it rapidly took shape and solidified as it ascended.
In the blink of an eye, it had transformed into a mountain-sized...
Giant hand!
The palm of the giant hand had no lines of flesh and blood; instead, it was covered in ancient Divine Runes that symbolized forging, smelting, and unyielding Struggle.
A majestic will, heavy as a mountain and seemingly capable of suppressing all turmoil and hammering any defiance into submission, descended with a scorching blast of air!
"CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!"
A deafening chain of metallic clashes rang out, as if a thousand hammers were striking an anvil at once.
The next moment, the five fingers of the dark red Energy hand flew open.
From the tip of each finger, like a volcanic eruption, burst forth countless thick, dark red Energy Chains that glinted with a cold light.
As if possessing lives and wills of their own, they snaked and wove madly through the air, carving countless devious and unnatural arcs.
From every direction—above, below, left, and right—they converged like giant pythons hunting prey, or like the lashes of a smithing god’s whip-hammer.
They swarmed overwhelmingly toward Yemiga—who was still ensnared by the webbing and mentally disoriented—to entangle and bind him.
"The Gray Dwarven Deity... Durag!"
Yemiga finally let out a low roar, his usual composure gone, his voice laced with shock and fury.
He tried to activate his Authority of Space-Time, to distort the space around him and accelerate his personal timeline, to dodge or deflect the Chains.
However...
The purple-black spiderwebs clung tenaciously to his Space-Time Force Field, greatly interfering with the field’s Purity and reaction speed.
The sorrowful whispers clung to him like maggots on a bone, continuously disrupting the rhythm of his precise thoughts.
More importantly, the divine Laws of "Forging," "Suppression," and "Binding" contained within the dark red Chains themselves... their very tier had already reached the Domain of true "divine might."
They were not mere Energy attacks, but constructs of Law that carried some of the Traits of Durag’s own Authority.
"Damn it! Damn it!"
Yemiga’s furious roar came to an abrupt end in the next instant.
For countless dark red Divine Chains had already wrapped around his body, layer upon layer, as airtight as an iron cage woven by a master craftsman, tightly binding the silvery-white light around him along with the clinging spiderwebs.
The Chains tightened, emitting a grinding roar of metal scraping and compressed Energy that set one’s teeth on edge.
A massive, heavy "cocoon" woven from the dark red Divine Chains now hung suspended in the air, sealing Yemiga—along with most of the Space-Time power he hadn’t been able to deploy in time—deep within.
His Authority of Space-Time, which he relied on to control everything and considered his ultimate trump card, had—for the first time, in the truest sense of the word—failed before a "divine might" of a similar tier, one that even possessed specific, countering Traits.
Failed.
The giant cocoon of dark red Divine Chains hung in the air, like an ancient seal used to suppress demons.
From within came the muffled roar of compressing Energy and grinding Chains, and one could faintly hear Yemiga’s suppressed shriek, laced with shock and fury.
On the ground, Avril was on one knee, gasping for breath. The dark red glow in her right eye and the profane, purple-black aura surrounding her were slowly fading, but her icy resolve remained.
She raised her head, her mismatched emerald and dark red eyes fixed on the giant cocoon in the sky, and shouted hoarsely with all her might.
"Roland! Now!"
Elsewhere, Duraga had nearly collapsed. The light from his Iron Glove, a symbol of Durag’s Blessing, had dimmed, and fine cracks had even appeared on its surface.
Forcibly summoning and channeling such a degree of divine might had drained nearly all of his Power and his resonance with the Divine Attribute.
He coughed up a mouthful of dark, congealed blood that shimmered with a faint red light, but still used his War Axe to prop himself up, letting out a hoarse yet deafening roar at the sky.
"Cut him down! Fucking tear that bastard to shreds!"
Galvis clutched his almost completely shattered Lute, his face deathly pale. Thin trickles of blood seeped from his eyes, ears, nose, and mouth.
The backlash from channeling the Love Goddess Tress’s sorrowful whisper had far exceeded his limits.
