Chapter 1241: Chapter 320: Mysteries and Machinations in the Forbidden Palace, Women Guarding Peace (Part 5)
The autumn wind carried the unique fragrance of the grassland, gently brushing against Shi Feiyang’s face.
He rode a pure white steed, its mane freely flying in the wind, like a Banished Immortal arriving on the breeze.
The sound of horse hooves was shattering, raising clouds of dust and sketching a faintly visible trail behind him, marking his encounter with this grassland.
From afar, the Lindan Tribe’s camp appeared like a brilliant pearl embedded in the grassland.
The white Mongolian yurts were scattered in a picturesque manner, with smoke rising gracefully and blending with the sunset on the horizon.
Among this beauty, the most dazzling was the lively figure—Princess Gugela, adorned in splendid Mongolian attire, her long gown made of silk embroidered with exquisite patterns, with golden and silver threads sparkling charmingly in the sunlight.
The headpiece she wore was even more stunning, coral, pearls, and gems complimenting each other, making her face seem as radiant as the rising sun, captivatingly vivid. Gugela caught sight of Shi Feiyang’s silhouette from a distance, her eyes immediately lit up with a brilliant glow, as if stars had fallen into her gaze.
She lightly lifted her dress hem and walked briskly towards him, the silver ornaments in her hair jingling, like a joyous melody.
“Shi Lang!” she called out sweetly, her voice full of uncontrollable joy. Shi Feiyang dismounted, opening his arms to tightly embrace the incoming Gugela. Feeling the softness and warmth of the woman in his arms, his heart also became exceptionally soft.
Gugela raised her head, her cheeks as red as the sunset clouds, her eyes full of shyness and delight: “Shi Lang, does the beauty of this grassland please your eyes?” Her voice was gentle and melodious, carrying a hint of cautiousness, as if afraid of receiving a negative answer.
Shi Feiyang tenderly cupped her face, his thumb lightly brushing over her delicate skin: “With you by my side, everything on this grassland surpasses the beauty of innumerable sights in the world. Look, that bright blue sky, the fluffy white clouds, and this vast and endless grassland, none of them, in my eyes, match the slightest smile in your eyes.” His words were sincere and heartfelt, each carrying a burning warmth, reaching deep into Gugela’s heart.
Upon hearing this, Gugela’s eyes became slightly moist, yet her lips lifted into a joyful smile.
She buried her head in Shi Feiyang’s chest, murmuring: “Shi Lang, since you came, this grassland truly gained color. I used to think, although beautiful, the grassland was too lonely. But now, as long as I can look at you, be with you, even if just standing quietly here, I feel immensely happy.” Since then, the grassland often saw their figures strolling side by side.
Gugela always clung tightly to Shi Feiyang’s arm, unwilling to let go even for a moment.
On this day, she would pick a vibrant Gesang flower, gently place it in Shi Feiyang’s hair, then say with a smile: “Shi Lang, wearing this flower, you look more beautiful than all the sights on this grassland.”
Later, she would playfully run ahead, then turn around, extend her hand towards Shi Feiyang: “Shi Lang, come chase me! If you can’t catch me, I’ll be upset!” No matter how mischievous she got, Shi Feiyang always followed her indulgently, allowing her to laugh freely on this grassland. Time passed, and soon it was Mid-Autumn.
The night on the grassland was extraordinarily tranquil, the bright moonlight spilling over the earth like mercury, draping everything in a silver veil.
Sitting in front of the yurt, Gugela rested her head on Shi Feiyang’s shoulder, her arms wrapped around his arm, her eyes full of reliance and fondness. “Shi Lang, do you think we’ll always be this happy?” Gugela softly asked, her voice tinged with a slight unease.
Shi Feiyang lowered his head and kissed her forehead gently: “Silly girl, with me here, we’ll not only always be happy, but we’ll also see all the beauty in this world hand in hand. No matter what difficulties we face in the future, I’ll stand in front of you, never letting you suffer the slightest grievance.”
Gugela lifted her head, her eyes shining with moved light: “Shi Lang, meeting you is the greatest luck of my life. For you, I’m willing to do anything, even climb a mountain of swords or go through a sea of flames, without frowning. As long as I can stay by your side, I seek nothing more.” Saying this, she snuggled even closer into Shi Feiyang’s shoulder, wanting to merge herself wholly into his life.
Suddenly, a sound as light as feather drifted by, “Flying Eagle Detective” Xie Wen performed the “Feixu Qingyan Technique,” appearing like a phantom.
Xie Wen was clad in a black suit, his expression stern, with beads of sweat still lingering on his forehead.
He knelt on one knee and said in a deep voice: “Grand Squad Leader, a calamity has occurred! Jiangnan’s thirty-six villages along the coast have been raided by the Three-Masted Ghost Ship, in a bizarre manner. A flag as black as ink flies on the ship, no signs of life, yet eerie ghostly cries are heard. The fishermen who were plundered have turned into living corpses, attacking passing caravans, leaving devastation in their wake.”
Upon hearing this, Shi Feiyang’s face immediately darkened, a trace of fierceness flashed in his eyes, and he spoke coldly: “Such evil deeds indeed! It seems there must be a mysterious force at work behind this.”
Gugela’s face also turned pale, as she tightly gripped Shi Feiyang’s arm, her voice slightly trembling: “Shi Lang, what should we do about this?”
Shi Feiyang patted her hand, reassuring: “Don’t be afraid, I’m here. Xie Wen, please explain carefully; does that ghost ship have any peculiar features?”
Xie Wen stood up, his eyebrows tightly knit, recalling: “When that ghost ship sails, the sea moves without wind, waves churn. Black mist surrounds the ship, faintly revealing some black shadows, yet their form is unclear. Even stranger, those living corpses are incredibly strong, ordinary blades cannot harm them at all; only by burning them can they be completely destroyed.”
