Chapter 1235: Chapter 319: Iron Palms and Mandarin Ducks Battle the Vault, Poison Whip and Broken Sword Weep in the Wasteland (Part 5)

Altai, chieftain of the Hake Tribe, caressed the dark-red blood jade on his scimitar and gazed at the Naiman Iron Cavalry surging up to the city like a black tide. The corner of his mouth curled into a cold, sinister smile. “Yili, beneath the walls of Hake, three hundred jars of ‘Heart-Burning Poison’ have long been waiting in reverence. Today I’ll let you know: to oppose the Western Holy Sect is to pit yourself against ghosts and gods!”

The Red-clothed Envoy behind him slowly opened the third eye at his brow. The strange, demonic radiance flowing in his dark-red pupil seemed as if it would devour this night.

The gold battle armor on Yili’s body gleamed with a chilling light. At the instant her Long Sword left its scabbard, the sound of a dragon’s roar shook the heavens, startling the crows perched atop the city walls.

“An evil cult deluding the masses and plunging all life into misery—today this demon’s lair will be leveled to the ground!” Her voice was firm and commanding as her gaze swept past Jin Liufu at her side. Jin Liufu, the “Jiao in the Water,” had already led a hundred Death Warriors to silently slip into the moat; faint ripples spread across the water’s surface as the cold gleam of Water Dividing Needle flashed forth, precisely severing three Poisoned Crossbow Arrows. Yet crisis descended in an instant.

The Red-clothed Envoy chanted under his breath, both hands forming the Nine-Pointed Seal. The moat suddenly boiled and surged, and an ink-black dense mist rose like a vicious ghost loosed from its cage.

Wherever it passed, the water plants instantly turned to white bone, and a putrid stench made one’s stomach churn.

Jin Liufu suddenly felt a bloody sweetness surge up his throat, as though countless tiny needles were stabbing his five viscera. Clenching his jaw, he brandished the Water Dividing Needle, unleashing “Jiao Long Triple Wave.” Amidst the flicker of cold light, he tried to cleave apart this eerie black fog.

But the black tendrils stretching out from within the fog twined around the seams of his armor like living things, tightening with every breath.

“Petty tricks! Watch your ancestral granny show you what real power is!” A silver-bell-like, icy laugh pierced the dense fog. Bai Zhi stood barefoot upon a horseback; the silver ornaments of Miaojiang chimed with her movements, their crisp sound strikingly out of place on this grim battlefield.

The twelve Gu boxes at her wrist opened at once. She bit her fingertip, and the instant the blood bead fell into the Bronze Gu Tripod, ancient and mysterious witch-Gu incantations spilled from her lips: “Thousand Spiders Soul Summoning, Ten Thousand Ants Devour the Heart!” In a heartbeat, tens of thousands of gold-backed spiders surged from her sleeves like a tide, weaving a golden net within the black fog that shredded all the black tendrils, producing a teeth-setting grinding sound.

The Red-clothed Envoy’s pupils contracted sharply at the sight. “The Twelve Gu Kings of Miaojiang? You’re actually a remnant of the Five Poison Sect!”

Humiliated and enraged, he slapped his chest with both hands. He spat three mouthfuls of black blood; the vertical eye at his brow burst forth with a blinding crimson light.

A three-headed, six-armed Demon God phantom emerged within the black mist, each hand gripping a scimitar wreathed in ghostly blue flames. The searing heat intertwined with the chill of the poisonous fog, forming a suffocating pressure.

Grasping the opening, Jin Liufu drove the Water Dividing Needle straight for the Red-clothed Envoy’s throat, but the Demon God phantom swung its blade and blasted him back. The tremendous impact ripped open the tiger’s mouth between thumb and forefinger, and blood trickled down the Water Dividing Needle.

Bai Zhi lightly tapped her jade foot on the horse’s back, and the Bronze Gu Tripod turned into a streak of light flying toward the Demon God.

From within the tripod, the Nine-headed Serpent Gu raised its heads high. Its tongues flicked as it spewed out violet mist, a nauseatingly sweet stench spreading through the air.

The Red-clothed Envoy let out a strange laugh. The Demon God phantom opened its maw and sucked, swallowing both the serpent Gu and the violet mist whole. “Using poison to counter poison? Before the Holy Flame, it’s nothing but child’s play!”

Before his words finished, Bai Zhi flung out the thorned silver rod at her waist. The silver rod extended into a whip-tip, and the Human-face Gu coiled upon it bared its fangs, striking straight for his throat.

At the same time, the Flying Eagle Cavalry led by Shi Xiong launched their charge; their long spears stood like a forest, their momentum like a rainbow.

However, when they closed within ten zhang of the city wall, the Holy Sect experts suddenly appeared. The gray-robed man at their head formed seals with both hands; the ground split open with a thunderous roar as countless bone spurs burst forth from the earth. The Flying Eagle Cavalry were thrown from men and horses, screams rising one after another.

Shi Xiong swept his spear horizontally, unleashing “Strength Shattering a Thousand Jun.” The powerful spear force shattered all the bone spurs. But twelve iron caltrops flew from the gray-robed man’s sleeve, each one shimmering with peacock-blue venom, flashing with an eerie light in the night.

Xie Wen moved through the chaotic ranks like a wraith, his short blades darting forth like vipers from their lair, tapping seven men’s acupoints in succession.

He keenly noticed Altai on the city head directing the placement of poison jars. His figure flickered as he used Lightweight Technique to dart swiftly upward.

Two Holy Sect Protectors swung chain hammers to block his path. The sparks that burst as the chain hammers collided actually ignited the drifting poison powder in the air; in an instant, flames and poisonous miasma intertwined, forming a sea of fire.

Xie Wen held his breath and focused his mind, unleashing the Feixu Qingyan Technique. His figure flickered in and out of the firelight, his short blades stabbing into the enemies’ openings like Spiritual Snakes.

Yili’s Long Sword swept out again and again, the Sword Qi of the “Cloud Mist Swordsmanship” like a golden rainbow cleaving through layer upon layer of poisonous fog.

She saw Jin Liufu and Bai Zhi mired in a bitter struggle. Her eyes hardened; her figure flashed forward, the tip of her sword pointing at the Red-clothed Envoy. “Taste my sword!”

The golden Sword Qi poured down like the Milky Way, yet was cleaved cleanly in two by the Demon God phantom’s scimitar.

The Red-clothed Envoy seized the moment to rush in close, his palm burning with poisonous flame as he pressed it toward Yili’s back.

At the last critical instant, Bai Zhi hurled out the Gu tripod. The Nine-headed Serpent Gu coiled around his arm like lightning, tearing off a chunk of flesh by sheer force; blood sprayed everywhere.

“Courting death!” the Red-clothed Envoy roared, the crimson light from the vertical eye at his brow shooting forth like a sharp sword.

Unable to dodge in time, Bai Zhi’s shoulder was seared into a charred-black wound; the searing pain made her stagger. Yet a fierce glint flashed in her eyes as a strange smile curved her lips. The twelve Gu boxes burst open at once, countless Gu insects surging toward the enemy like a black tide.

Amid the Red-clothed Envoy’s screams, the black fog gradually dispersed, revealing his body gnawed down to bare white bone, the sight horrifying beyond words.

At this moment, a deafening boom came from the city head. Altai had ignited the final jar of “Heart-Burning Poison.” In an instant, the entire city wall was shrouded in poisonous smoke; wherever the smoke passed, grass and trees withered, and stone cracked apart.
