Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!

Chapter 2762: Punishment City

  • Next Chapter

The massive circular fortress looks extremely technological from the outside. The fully enclosed dome makes it appear more like a secret research base rather than a prison. The thickened metal walls and multi-layered defensive barriers make this place impregnable. Let alone sneaking in unnoticed from the outside, even using props to blast through might not open it quickly.

However, Red Stone had already instructed them that there would be someone at the entrance to assist. First, a few people needed to go in and create chaos, and then the others would enter through the emergency exit.

Judging by the defensive barriers, this Punishment City hasn’t completely isolated props, and it’s relatively far from densely populated areas. Even if something were to happen, it wouldn’t easily affect ordinary people. Such arrangements significantly indicate that there won’t be any interference devices.

Everyone felt somewhat at ease, and finally, a three-person team consisting of Xu Huo, Lei Xiaohe, and the female player disguised themselves as convicts to infiltrate.

The player-restraining neck and wrist rings had been tampered with in advance. The spider locks on them couldn’t be opened, and the strong electric devices had been limited, merely disguised as normal restriction instruments. As long as the inspectors go easy, they wouldn’t be detected.

The aircraft they were on landed in a dedicated inspection pod, where a law enforcement team robot approached, separately inspecting their neck and wrist rings and assessing their physical condition.

"Neck rings and wrist rings functioning; all three ordinary people are in a coma. Breathing and heartbeat match the effects after using anesthetics, and they are not carrying any props or other instruments." The robot broadcasted the inspection results, and they were allowed to pass.

After the three, pretending to be unconscious, passed through the inspection pod, they were taken over by law enforcement team members. One person registered them, another inspected them again, and then they were confined in a separate room.

The three were moved to restraint beds, their hands, feet, legs, and chest were all tied up.

The inspector quickly left. After the door closed, Lei Xiaohe opened his eyes, glanced around, and remarked, "There’s no monitoring device here."

"Someone’s coming." The female player reminded him, and Lei Xiaohe lay back down.

"Why only three people this time?" Two ordinary individuals entered the room; the older one spoke with some discontent, "What are we fetching three people for? Wasting Punishment City’s resources."

As he spoke, he inspected Xu Huo and the others, pressing and touching them, and finally said to the person next to him, "Hold the female prisoner separately, take her away."

The female player was quickly moved out, and the room door was closed again.

This time, Xu Huo sat up, removed the instruments from his body, and noticed that the mycelium inside him was somewhat active. He reminded Lei Xiaohe to use the antitoxin, "Punishment City is specifically used to hold players, so there might be poison in the circulating air. It’s better to be cautious."

Lei Xiaohe nodded and donned the protective suit.

"There are no prop restrictions inside Punishment City," he attempted and said, "However, the spatial teleportation device can’t be used."

"That’s understandable. With such a large protective barrier outside, even if the teleportation prop can be used, it might be interrupted midway." Xu Huo said, "There are surveillance devices in the corridors, going out like this will surely trigger the alarm before we find the interference device. The others can’t come in easily. We’d better first determine the installation location of the instruments before acting, ensuring the instruments are destroyed while opening the emergency exit."

Lei Xiaohe had no objections, but he said uncertainly, "When we entered just now, did you notice, we didn’t encounter many people at all."

"Normally, there should be enough players responsible for security inside Punishment City. It’s really too quiet here."

The implication was that his guess was almost certainly true. Even if they don’t go out, there’ll definitely be tricks waiting for them. And would the other party really let them destroy the interference instrument?

"What did you leave outside?" Xu Huo suddenly asked.

"Nothing..." Lei Xiaohe chuckled, "Just brought a few people in."

Taking hostages isn’t exactly the best method, after all, once a player dies, the props will change hands.

Xu Huo stood at the door for a while before taking out two sets of law enforcement uniforms, saying, "There’s no one outside now; we can go out."

They didn’t really need to evade the surveillance devices, just not be recognized immediately.

Indeed, there wasn’t much outside, and the two of them walked a while without encountering players or other staff. Most rooms they passed were empty, aside from some old restraint beds; other places didn’t even show signs of someone’s presence.

It was cleaned too thoroughly.

The surveillance devices were everywhere, at least in the corridor, with virtually no blind spots.

The metal walls everywhere somewhat limited Xu Huo’s exploration. But within his observable range, he didn’t see any prisoners, not even the female player who had just been taken away was anywhere to be found.

The openings inside the building weren’t entirely open; some were sensor doors, while others required identity verification. The two of them walked through and arrived at a corridor.

But as they entered a narrow corridor, the door ahead suddenly sprang open, and two players faced them unexpectedly.

Both sides stared at each other, and the next second simultaneously moved forward. When passing each other, the person in front suddenly stopped Xu Huo and the other, "Where are you transferred from? Haven’t seen you before."

Lei Xiaohe had already prepared to draw, but Xu Huo replied, "I haven’t seen you either, please show your credentials."

Both sides tensed up, but the next moment, the first person smiled faintly, nodded slightly to Xu Huo, "I have business in the operations room, let’s go together."

Xu Huo didn’t refuse, so the four walked in pairs forward.

"Which door did you come in from?" The other party asked.

"East door." Xu Huo answered.

"I came in from the West door." The other said, "After entering, I found this Punishment City doesn’t live up to its name. Used to hear that there are daily deaths here, but now not to mention corpses, you can’t even encounter a living person."

"Same here." Xu Huo said, "Someone offered me high wages to come."

The other nodded, "Same here."

"Did you see the operations room when you came in?" Xu Huo asked.

"No, I guess it’s to the left." The other pointed, "But I don’t have the permission."

"How coincidental, neither do I." Xu Huo raised an eyebrow, "Are you sure the operations room is over there?"

"Just encountered a staff member leaving hurriedly who headed over there." The person said, "Just don’t know if it’s a trap or something else."

"No more waiting." Xu Huo took out the interference device, cut off the surrounding surveillance devices, while the man threw an energy bomb towards the large door; the small explosion didn’t break through the thick metal door. He supplemented it with a few cuts, and as the alarm screeched, the door was cleanly cut down.

"So you guys aren’t from Punishment City either?" Lei Xiaohe caught up to the two, asking, "Who hired you?"
