Chapter 2694: Opening the Blind Box

Almost in an instant, an irresistible force propelled Xu Huo upwards, taking with him Yan Jiayu, who was clinging onto him, and Qi Cong, who had always been tied to Yan Jiayu.

After being lifted, Yan Jiayu had no intention of letting go, nor did Xu Huo have time to stop her. In fact, they barely had any time to react before they were pulled into another dimension.

The ceiling of the castle corridor seemed unreachable, but they were actually pulled to another part of the castle. After landing, they touched something soft, and as the sudden tightening around the neck brought about a sensation of suffocation and excruciating pain as his head was slammed to one side, Xu Huo saw the small number "3" marked under a wall lamp a few meters away, and beneath the lamp was a headless puppet.

It felt as if a pair of large hands was holding his head, attempting to sever his throat unsuccessfully, and then trying to twist his neck bone. Xu Huo turned by instinct, releasing his shuttle and Materialized Item, indiscriminately slaughtering the surrounding space.

The pressure on his head eased the next second, and he immediately released "Soaked Kelp," expanding the defensive range while also detecting what was around them... At least the entity appeared twice, and each time he felt no corporeal presence.

His gaze quickly swept over the wall lamp emitting faint light, and he rushed forward to cut it down. The only light went out, plunging the corridor back into darkness.

The second floor didn’t have lights just now either, but that doesn’t mean it’s safe. So after smashing the wall lamp, Xu Huo tossed a few glow sticks to one side of the corridor.

Once the glow sticks lit up, the wood stick that flashed by earlier reappeared.

"Let me!" This time Yan Jiayu also saw it. She grabbed Qi Cong with both hands, tossing him like a bowling ball!

Amidst the screams, Qi Cong was hurled into the darkness, followed by a loud clang, and Yan Jiayu seized the opportunity to yank Qi Cong back using the rope.

Qi Cong’s face bore a red mark when Xu Huo caught him, and he quickly said, "That living prop is walking on stilts, with just a single wooden stick below!"

"Ha ha!" Yan Jiayu chuckled upon hearing this, reached into her huge backpack, accurately pulled out a bottle of oil and a bag of Glass Beads, poured the oil into the Glass Beads, mixed them casually, making the oil-coated Glass Beads into weapons, throwing them handfuls into the darkness.

Not sure if they really hit the living prop, but after the crackling sounds of collisions, the "thump thump" footstep sound indeed moved a bit further away.

"Hurry, hurry!" Yan Jiayu continued throwing Glass Beads while retreating.

The living prop in the castle can’t possibly ignore players’ attacks; doing this was simply giving it something to deal with, preventing it from randomly claiming heads.

Sensing the "thump thump" was closing in, the group quickened their pace, heedless of whether there were any more living props ahead.

"At this point, let’s not hold back." Yan Jiayu said while running, "Instead of being sneakily picked off in the dark, why not light up the castle, at least it will make our actions easier!"

Xu Huo had the same thought, stalling was not a solution, "Let’s just fight it out!"

The two nodded in agreement, ignoring Qi Cong’s howls beside them, first releasing some miniature flying devices to scout ahead, then tossing fireworks and glow sticks into corridor intersections—not sure if there are any other living props in the corridor, but during their advance, they clearly heard sounds of doors opening and closing.

The pair exchanged glances, quickly changing direction, turning into the outer viewing gallery from one side of the passage, then looping back to where they heard movement earlier.

Xu Huo, wearing a Mechanical Suit Set, used Psyche Force Materialization to seal the door panel, before turning the handle to push the door open.

He and Yan Jiayu waited by the door for several seconds, confirming no movement in the room before peeking inside.

The room likewise had no lights on, but light filtered in through the window, causing both to instantly focus on the long-haired woman sitting with her back to the door on the sofa.

Her long, wave-like hair draped from the back of the sofa to the floor, releasing an enticing shine even in this lighting, compelling one to look closer. At that moment, the woman abruptly turned her head, emitting a piercing scream with her bloody eye sockets facing them, then leaping from the sofa headfirst towards the door!

Yan Jiayu swung her arm, the crowbar in her hand meeting the head directly, but unexpectedly, the head bit onto the crowbar, and seeing teeth marks appear, she decisively tossed the crowbar into the room.

Xu Huo, prepared, shut the door, completely trapping the flying head inside, hearing the crash sounds and rattling of the door handle from behind the door, he said to Yan Jiayu, "Wrong door."

Yan Jiayu nodded, "It should be one of these doors, try another."

While speaking, she drew another crowbar from the side of her backpack.

Thus, the two walked to the opposite door.

Last time, Xu Huo opened the door, so this time Yan Jiayu stepped forward.

"Wait!" Gasping, Qi Cong only managed a glance before hurriedly interrupting her, "That’s a fake door!"

"Fake door?" Yan Jiayu looked at Xu Huo, who paused, "Try another."

The group moved to the next door.

Qi Cong followed behind nervously, "Aren’t you going to ask why?"

Xu Huo glanced at him askance, "Already knew you never speak truthfully."

"It’s not that I don’t want to say, I’m doing this to protect myself, the so-called innocent man unwittingly stepping into trouble..." Qi Cong hastily explained, but before finishing, was interrupted by Yan Jiayu: "Shut up, afraid others don’t know your evolution is special; instead of worrying about being killed, why not advance to Rank-A soon."

Qi Cong didn’t think their attitude was bad, instead heaved a sigh of relief patting his chest, "As long as you don’t kill me!"

Soon, they opened the next door; the room was void of any living props, just an ordinary and normal bedroom, clearly visible.

For safety, they decided not to enter, just as they were about to close the door, nearby water sounds suddenly arose, mimicking the subtle stirring sound of fish in water, emanating from the direction they previously came.

It was clear there was no water feature there, this noise was likely another living prop.

Exchanging a glance, Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu grabbed Qi Cong one from the left and one from the right, entering the empty room.

The door wasn’t completely shut; Xu Huo deliberately left a gap, placing Qi Cong at the crack, "Use your eyes."

"Brother! No! Brother! We don’t need to take this risk, right? My death won’t benefit you either!"

Xu Huo pushed him down slightly, standing by the door himself, watching the corridor ahead.
