Chapter 1709: Fixed Points In Time
Chapter 1709: Fixed Points In Time
[Last Arc was called The Infinite Divine Court]
[New Arc: The Grand Expedition]

"How about we check a few fixed points in time to see our relationship with that being?" the Slaughter Ancestor said.
"Not interested," the Erudite Duchess immediately replied.
"I’m intrigued," Primordial Heaven Sword Saint commented. He would love to see how he compares to that being at the same level.
"What if we see our death?" Karma Root Monarch asked. Her words immediately brought the group to reality. As Saints, they are no longer bound by many of Grand Dao’s limitations, meaning they can freely navigate the River of Time. As higher-dimensional entities, the way they experience time is different from that of others.
At this moment in time, this is their first meeting with Wang Wei. However, if they want, they can see or jump to a fixed point in time where Wang Wei is already a Tribunal Saint. Unfortunately, such an act is dangerous — unless they hold one of the cardinal positions and are eternal as long as the Grand Dao exists. If any of these Saints see their death in these fixed points of time, then they will definitely die. However, as long as they remained in the present and did not look too far into the future, the future would remain in a state of endless possibilities.
"I envy him," the True Dream Lord sighed. Knowing that your future self has reached a higher realm is a great benefit for any Saints. As stated, the future is in a constant state of fluctuation, but some futures have a higher chance of happening, so as long as a Saint finds one of those futures, they can slowly work to guarantee it happens.
"What’s there to envy? Since he can do it, we can too," Primordial Heaven Sword Saint casually said. There is nothing worse than not knowing whether there is a path ahead. Now that they know, they should be confident in reaching it.
The True Dream Lord glanced at him. He remembered a rumor that this swordsman was connected to a Grand Dao Saint from ancient times.
’Is this the source of his confidence? Or just a swordsman’s arrogance?’ The True Dream Lord could not tell. Regardless, he decided to pay more attention to this man during this mission to see if he could unravel any deeper secrets.
"I noticed five of you have some karmic relationship with him. What are you going to do about it?" Karma Root Monarch asked. Unfortunately, her words brought up a sensitive topic, so no one said another word.
True Dream Lord could remain calm because the issue with Dong Lifen was no longer a problem. The Sovereign Qi Luck Path already corrupted her as a vessel, and while he could take the time and effort to purify her, it was not worth all the trouble now that he knew her connection with Wang Wei.
The Erudite Duchess had treated her pawn quite well and even granted her a great fortune. Wu Hong owed her such great karma, which, in turn, meant the great being also owed her good karma. As long as she doesn’t go too far, her karma can probably benefit her immensely — especially since she suspects Wu Hong also reached the third step.
The issue is with the Trinity Venerable and the Slaughter Ancestor. The former has been plotting against Qiyuan and the others for far too long. Although these three were not the best vessels for testing his third-step transcendent path, they were still crucial. Meanwhile, the Slaughter Ancestor knows the importance of the Slaughter Source Position and would not allow anyone else to take it from his clone — even the best friend and brother of that being.
Karma Root Monarch observed everybody’s reaction. Her words were a form of probing, but her real target was the Primordial Heaven Sword Saint. The latter’s behavior was abnormal. Why wasn’t he interested in the Sword Source Position? Although the core secrets of these positions have not been revealed, they have already discovered or deduced the truth. Yet, as far as she knew, the latter had never sent a clone or vessel to fight for the position.
"They’re here," the Erudite Duchess said, instantly slicing the slight tension from the Karma Root Monarch’s words. As expected, three individuals finally showed up: Time, Heaven, and Source Qi.
"You three are the only ones coming?" Slaughter Ancestor asked with a frown. Although the people in the lower areas couldn’t see their human forms, these cardinals could.
"To be precise, the other two will be joining," Time Cardinal explained. "I will be monitoring the seal on the timeline and can provide assistance as needed."
"Can’t all of you come? You can’t die anyway," Primordial Heaven Sword Saint asked.
"Primordial and Fate have a task of the highest priority, and Samsara cannot leave the Primordial Timeline."
"Why are you complaining? Fewer people mean more rewards for you," the Heaven Cardinal sneered.
"You dare look down on the Infinite Divine Court, but we don’t," Primordial Heaven Sword Saint countered. Even as the second most bloodthirsty individual in their group, he knew to prioritize safety and success over small benefits.
"No need to be dramatic," the Heaven Cardinal continued. "We are only attacking one timeline out of countless."
’Is this guy stupid?’ Was the first thought of all these Tribunal Saints. However, they immediately denied this. After dealing with these cardinals for so long, they could say for sure they were mediocre in their abilities, but they were not stupid. After living for so long, and having so much power and access to so many secrets — even a pig would learn a few things. As such, the Heaven Cardinal’s carefree and arrogant demeanor instantly raised alarm bells in their mind.
"Let’s discuss our payment and the subsequent plans," the Erudite Duchess said. She decided to use this negotiation to probe what these people were planning. The discussion was intense. Because Grand Dao has been preparing for the Transcendent Age, the Primordial Timeline has been in a state of severe resource shortage for Saints. Over the years, these beings has no choice but to utilize every opportunity presented to them.
Additionally, they also needed to negotiate their safety. After all, they did not want to fight to the death for the Grand Dao. So, their request includes the right to escape if things become too dangerous, or to have certain access or rights the seal placed on the timeline to prevent Grand Dao from forcing them to fight to the death with the Infinite Divine Court.
’It’s really tiring dealing with these people,’ Source Qi Cardinal commented through secret communication.
’They are used to being arrogant. But don’t worry. The New Age is approaching, and I want to see how long they can remain that way,’ Heaven Cardinal sneered.
’We already knew what they were like, so what’s the plan of complaining?" Time Cardinal added. ’Anyway, let’s move on to the next step.’ He contacted Wang Wei to join him, and after a brief hesitation, Wang Wei flew to the sky.
"You’ve met your commander, right?" Time Cardinal said.
’Is he trying to test out whether we’ve aligned ourselves with that great being?’ Karma Root Monarch thought. None of them was stupid enough to reveal such information. However, there is another concern: how to address the young version of that being. After pondering, Karma Root Monarch decided on a way to show respect while keeping their dignity: she revealed her proper form. A breathtakingly beautiful woman with a snake lower body and a human upper body dressed in a red robe showed up.
’She’s the same species as Nuwa?’ Wang Wei thought. In the Prehistoric World, Saint Nuwa is credited with the creation of humans. However, given the complex nature of that world, Wang Wei doesn’t think such credit would only be given to one person.
The others thought Karma’s approach was wise and followed suit. The Erudite Duchess was a beautiful young woman with a peaceful, quiet demeanor, clad in a blue hanfu with clouds, a black belt around her waist, and eyes so profound they seemed to be the gate to endless knowledge.
The Trinity Venerable was a middle-aged man dressed in a white Taoist robe with three Taoji symbols, a Taoist hat, a mustache that covered his upper lip, and a beard that resembled a comma, holding a black jade ruyi, with cold eyes that tried to be gentle.
The Slaughter Ancestor was a towering creature more than 3 meters tall, with six arms and fourteen eyes, a bare upper torso of red skin with markings or runes, and something that covered his lower body and animal-skin boots. Wang Wei recognized he was a member of the Asura race, but couldn’t pinpoint the exact one.
The Primordial Heaven Sword Saint resembled a handsome human swordsman, dressed in white, with sharp eyebrows and a piercing gaze, but he wore a crystal on his forehead with a terrifying sword scar. Wang Wei couldn’t read much from these people, but even he knew that scar was some kind of unhealed injury,
’The implication of that scar is terrifying,’ he thought before glancing at the last person: the True Dream Lord. A human with two pointy horns, red eyes and dark pupil, purple tattoos and runes running from his face to his body, and an ethereal left arm that was not flesh and blood, but a substance that mirrored the properties of clouds.
’Dream? More like a nightmare,’ Wang Wei commented. The only dreamy aspect of this lord is his left arm, which baffles Wang Wei.
