"Holy shit!"

Song Jiulai was stunned. "What the hell kind of speed is that?"

She was positioned at a perfectly safe distance from the battlefield—the kind of spot where she could bolt at the first sign of trouble.

But the speed of this Late-stage Foundation Establishment Cultivator completely shattered her expectations.

The bloody skull, roiling with malevolent energy, closed in on Song Jiulai.

She didn’t hesitate for a second, unleashing a Palm Thunder.

Her now-Intermediate Palm Thunder was a full size larger than the Initial Stage version.

It had once been a bolt of pale blue, laser-like lightning, but now, as the Palm Thunder descended, it held a faint trace of violet.

When the Palm Thunder slammed into the skull, the roiling, gray malevolent energy visibly faltered from the attack.

"Palm Thunder?"

Thunder Element Techniques were a natural counter to these Evil Spirits.

The Late-stage Foundation Establishment Cultivator never expected the bystander to know Palm Thunder.

After a brief hesitation, his eyes turned vicious, and he sent another skull hurtling toward Song Jiulai.

His monstrous appearance was now exposed. The secret of his Evil Spirit Technique absolutely could not get out.

Otherwise, he would be hunted across the entire Yunzhou Continent!

With this in mind, he sent another skull after Song Jiulai.

Song Jiulai whipped out her gourd. Seeing that the skulls were advancing rather than retreating, and that there was now another one, she mercilessly fired off several consecutive Palm Thunders.

After this barrage, the seemingly unstoppable skulls began to visibly dissipate.

’Looks like my attacks are pretty strong after all.’

’It is a natural counter, after all.’

She hopped onto her gourd. Although she was on the run, she didn’t fly straight out, but instead circled the canyon.

She had no intention of leaving.

She rolled up her sleeves. "I haven’t even started looting yet, and you dare attack me? Well, don’t blame me for what happens next!"

System: "Since when was there any honor between you two?"

Song Jiulai: "I wasn’t planning on robbing him at first."

System: "..."

’Do you even believe that nonsense yourself?’

When the Late-stage Foundation Establishment Cultivator saw the Palm Thunder that Song Jiulai had unleashed, his smug expression turned to one of alarm.

’Isn’t she just at Late-stage Qi Refining?’

’Why is her Palm Thunder so unbelievably powerful?!’

’The speed of the attack, combined with the power of the Palm Thunder... there’s no way a Late-stage Qi Refining Cultivator could pull that off.’

’Did I get tricked?’

’Damn it!’

As these thoughts crossed Min Liyang’s mind, his face, already disfigured from using the Evil Spirit Technique, became even more monstrous.

He let out a long howl to the sky as the back of his head split wide open—a scene so gory it would have to be censored on Blue Star.

Two more skulls grotesquely sprouted from the gash.

Accompanied by a surge of malevolent energy, they shot off to pursue the other three Mid-stage Foundation Establishment cultivators, while his true body charged directly at Song Jiulai.

"Surrender now, and I’ll spare your life!"

At his sinister, blood-soaked words, Song Jiulai actually laughed.

While maneuvering her gourd and forming hand seals, she still found the time to retort, "Did you even manage to say that with a straight face?"

Min Liyang: "...You’re courting death!"

The skull let out a piercing shriek like a wailing specter, a sound that seemed to bore through eardrums and inflict agonizing pain.

But Song Jiulai was largely unaffected, aside from finding the noise exceptionally grating.

But the skull’s speed was unnervingly fast.

Almost in the same instant the shriek sounded, the skull—which had been some distance away—suddenly appeared right in front of Song Jiulai.

Fortunately, she now had Divine Sense and her reflexes were lightning-fast. A Palm Thunder shot down right before her face, the blinding light illuminating the skull’s gory visage.

It also revealed the man’s completely mutated face, hidden within the mist.

This was one benefit of fighting so many demon beasts—Song Jiulai could now witness such a scene without flinching.

’More intense than any horror movie.’

The skull shrieked in agony as it was struck, and the surrounding mist dissipated a little more.

It was forced back several paces.

Without a trace of hesitation, Song Jiulai recalled her gourd and used Lotus Birth Kill to put some safe distance between them.

"Lotus Birth Kill..."

Min Liyang recognized the technique. A Cultivation Technique worth several dozen Mid-grade Spirit Stones wasn’t something an ordinary Cultivator could afford.

A glint of greed appeared in his eyes.

’There’s definitely more to this Late-stage Qi Refining Cultivator than meets the eye.’

’Palm Thunder, Lotus Birth Kill... neither of those is cheap.’

’If I kill her, all of this will be mine!’

At this thought, he made the skulls retreat and a strange, lamp-like Magic Treasure appeared above his head.

The lamp seemed to be carved from jade, with a spiraling body and a single wick at its apex.

The moment Min Liyang summoned it, the wick burst into flame.

A strange feeling rose in Song Jiulai’s heart.

It was most certainly a very bad premonition.

So, she didn’t hesitate either, unleashing the Moonlight Sword Technique!

WHOOSH—

The ambient temperature instantly plummeted by several degrees.

The damp, bone-deep cold made Min Liyang uneasy.

He sensed danger. Looking up, he saw the phantom of a massive long sword plunging down from above his head.

The power of the phantom long sword was not to be underestimated; upon its appearance, the burning wick on his Magic Treasure actually flickered twice.

"This is your Cultivation Technique... No, what technique is this?"

Min Liyang’s sense of foreboding grew. The hideous look on his face faltered, and he subconsciously began to retreat.

But in that same moment, he felt his body suddenly weaken.

His Spiritual Energy was draining, and as the long sword descended, one of the skulls he had just sprouted began to tremble violently, as if it were about to dissipate.

"What the hell is this thing?!"

It could actually interfere with his Cultivation Technique!

He even felt his own cultivation level dropping.

He had already sent three skulls to deal with the other cultivators, and now he was down another one.

As Song Jiulai’s Moonlight Sword Technique plunged downward, his instincts screamed danger. Realizing he couldn’t escape the phantom sword’s range, he gritted his teeth and used a skull to block it directly.

The descending long sword was momentarily halted in mid-air.

Feeling Min Liyang’s fierce resistance, Song Jiulai’s Spiritual Energy was rapidly drained as she used the Moonlight Sword Technique in this confrontation.

A demon beast couldn’t have put up such a strong resistance, but the man before her was at Late-stage Foundation Establishment.

As a Mid-stage Foundation Establishment cultivator, Song Jiulai wasn’t afraid of him. But his Cultivation Technique was bizarre; he had managed to block the Moonlight Sword Technique’s assault with just two skulls.

However, the side effects of the Moonlight Sword Technique were too potent. It was already a struggle for Min Liyang to stop the long sword from descending; dividing his focus to also control his Magic Treasure was pushing his limits.

Gritting his teeth, he raised a hand, and the Magic Treasure with the burning wick flew back above his head, helping him fend off the Moonlight Long Sword’s attack.

The pressure on him eased somewhat.

But the phantom long sword still hadn’t disappeared.

Song Jiulai’s entire focus was on controlling this one sword strike; she couldn’t spare the concentration for anything else. If she relaxed for even a moment, her opponent would easily exploit the opening.

But the sword refused to plunge further, madly consuming her Spiritual Energy as she remained locked in a stalemate with Min Liyang.

Meanwhile, Min Liyang’s heart was filled with absolute horror.

"Who are you?!"
