Isn't This a Game? Why Are You All Cultivating for Real!
Chapter 280: Have to Pay a Salary to the Sea View Sect
As disciples of a small sect, their ambitions weren’t that lofty.
If even Great Power Cultivators couldn’t see the problem, what could they possibly do?
So upon hearing this, Shui Ping slowly nodded. "Understood."
Meanwhile, the corner of Dong Yulan’s mouth twitched when she learned what the Longevity Sect disciples had asked of her.
’It seems one Feique Sect is far from enough.’
But Dong Yulan also knew the reasoning behind it.
With such a high output of Elixir Pills, they were bound to come into conflict with the Taohua Sect sooner or later.
Rather than get into unnecessary fights, it was better to discuss the possibility of cooperation.
From the looks of it, at least for now, the benefits of this cooperation were immense.
So immense, in fact, that Dong Yulan didn’t dare to think too deeply about it.
Not to mention, if the Ten Thousand Immortals Sect or the Sea View Sect in Liu Xian City were to discover what the Longevity Sect was up to, disaster would befall the Longevity Sect.
The Feique Sect would not be able to escape blame either.
And now, they were already on this pirate ship.
So, Dong Yulan agreed to act as the intermediary.
While great changes were taking place within the Longevity Sect, a forgotten player happened to catch Song Jiulai’s attention.
Liu Bo!
Liu Bo was the player who had been captured by a Demon Cultivator immediately after entering the Taixue Sect.
By playing dumb and acting foolish around the Demon Cultivator Ali, he had even managed to obtain a mental method.
However, due to his limited talent, Liu Bo’s cultivation progress was that of an average player, and he still had to keep up his foolish act.
Right now, Liu Bo was just barely scraping by, with no points to his name.
Ali wouldn’t let him go out at all.
But he had now come to understand that Demon Cultivators were still an unsolved problem for the players.
And while the rumors about Demon Cultivators outside were terrifying, in Liu Bo’s opinion...
...he felt that the group of Demon Cultivators living in the Taixue Sect were rather silly, like demons who had just taken human form—you could only say they were *slightly* familiar with human nature.
And they were painfully blunt.
A few of them were a little cunning, but not by much.
Plus, they fit the stereotypes of their respective species.
The most mysterious one was still that old man of the Human Clan, Duan Wunian.
Liu Bo stayed by Ali’s side. Fortunately, Ali purely saw him as a companion who kept others from laughing at him.
He wasn’t abused, but he also had no opportunity to run off.
He just spent every day playing with the fool, Ali.
Playing with him so much made Liu Bo feel like his own reaction time was genuinely getting half a beat slower.
’It’s over,’ he thought, ’I think the stupidity is actually contagious.’
The other Demon Cultivators looked down on the two of them and didn’t play with them much, but Ali was still cheerful.
The situation changed suddenly one day.
Ali had told Liu Bo to go into the forest and pick some of the wild fruits Demon Cultivators ate. They were for Liu Bo, but many of them were poisonous and harmful to a human body, so he couldn’t touch them.
Just as he returned from picking the fruit, he saw many Demon Cultivators gathered together, a rare look of panic on their faces.
A large number of them were even kneeling on the ground, trembling.
Even Duan Wunian was there.
Ali quickly pulled Liu Bo closer, and before they even got near, they were hit by a thick stench of blood.
Then, Ali’s expression changed, and he frantically pulled on Liu Bo. "Kneel... Kneel down... It’s... the Sky Leopard Clan..."
His voice was stuttering with fear.
Liu Bo was confused, but he knew better than to cause trouble at a time like this, so he quickly knelt down with them.
’It’s not my real body in the game anyway,’ he thought, ’so who needs integrity?’
He who understands the times is a wise man!
Still, he couldn’t help but raise his eyes to sneak a peek.
Surrounded by the crowd were several injured Demon Cultivators.
Compared to the group of Demon Cultivators from the Taixue Sect, the beauty of these few was simply astonishing.
But they were also in a miserable state.
Two of them were even missing limbs, and judging by the torn edges of their wounds, it looked as if their limbs had been ripped off by brute force.
The most heavily injured one had dark skin with a sort of dark-gold texture.
Paired with his stunning face, he looked like an exotic prince.
But his face was deathly pale, and on his head were two black ears that looked a bit like a cat’s.
’But Ali just said they were the Sky Leopard Clan,’ he wondered. ’Could they be leopard ears?’
A large hole had been gouged out of his chest, so deep that you could see his heart.
Black energy continuously seeped from the wound, corroding it. Duan Wunian reached out a glowing hand to treat the injury, but after a short while, his expression grew heavy.
"It’s no use. An injury this severe... was this the work of the City Lord of Xuanwu City?"
He was asking another Female Demon Cultivator who was half-kneeling beside the one from the Sky Leopard Clan. She was missing an arm, a ghastly injury, but her condition seemed slightly better.
She shook her head in panic. "No, we don’t know what injured him. The situation was chaotic. He was taken away by a female cultivator of the Human Clan who had a water-drop mark in the middle of her forehead."
"A water-drop mark?" Duan Wunian’s face darkened. "Someone from the Xingshui Sect? How could that be..."
But now was not the time to dwell on that. Duan Wunian glanced at the unconscious Demon Cultivator and said, "His injuries are too severe. He needs the Golden Amber Stone Jade Liquid, and only the Xue Cang Sect has that. I can only help him hold on for a month."
The Female Demon Cultivator’s face instantly turned ashen. "Then... then what do we do? We can’t get it!"
Duan Wunian looked around. "Where is your Princess?"
"The Princess is still in Xuanwu City. She stayed behind to help us escape." The Female Demon Cultivator was on the verge of tears. "The Royal Family found out we acted on our own, and they’ve forbidden the Sky Leopard Clan from helping us..."
"What time do you think this is!" Duan Wunian couldn’t help but rebuke, but after a long moment, he sighed. "Bring him inside first. Your injuries need to be treated as well."
They didn’t bother to hide their conversation from Liu Bo. Perhaps the situation was too complicated, and there was no need to be secretive around a little fool from the Human Clan like Liu Bo.
Through Liu Bo’s eyes, the system saw the situation before him crystal clear.
"The Demon Cultivators who escaped Xuanwu City actually went to find this Duan Wunian of the Taixue Sect?"
This was beyond Song Jiulai’s expectations. "Just who is this Duan Wunian?"
He was helping Demon Cultivators, an unforgivable act from the Human Clan’s standpoint.
And the Demon Cultivators seemed to trust him a great deal.
Now, even the Royal Family of the Demon Cultivators had appeared.
"This Royal Family..." Song Jiulai actually knew a little something about them.
It was mentioned in various miscellaneous biographies. Among Demon Cultivators, bloodline suppression was highly valued, and some Demon Cultivators were born into races with extremely high innate talent.
These races also led other Demon Cultivators... though the "leading" part was debatable.
The true ruler of the Demon Cultivator race was the Moon Demon Emperor.
The Moon Demon Emperor wasn’t from the Royal Family; after all, she was originally from the Human Clan.
"There’s also a Princess," the system reminded her. "That Female Demon Cultivator said their Princess is still in Xuanwu City, covering their escape. Do you think this Princess was captured?"
"I thought only one Demon Cultivator had escaped. I didn’t expect there to be so many." Song Jiulai felt that the situation in the Dragon Frost Swamp was growing more and more complex.
The system said dryly, "Let’s stop worrying about the affairs of high-level figures. It’s almost the end of the month. The Sea View Sect is about to pay your salary."
Song Jiulai: "..."
She slapped her thigh in frustration. "Time to go to work again."
She had been laying low in Xuanwu City for a few days, but now she had no choice but to go.
Not long after Song Jiulai left, a slender figure followed her trail out of Xuanwu City.
