Isekai Journey Of The Magic Archer

Chapter 1270 - 1270: The hunter’s hunting

In the heart of a nearby magical forest near the capital of Roxana empire, where trees whisper secrets of everyday lives, lies a hunting area teeming with energy beasts.

Adventurers seeking to test their skills and harness the materials obtained from this forest and from these beasts venture into the forest, armed with enchanted weapons, skills, and magical wands to channel their innate powers.

-Ooooooooooooooooong!

The forest was, just like every other day, brimming with various adventurers and beasts of various kinds today as well… however, as this seemingly simple scene shifts, the focus turns to a clearing on the outskirts of the forest, where a lone mage adventurer stood amidst a bloody massacre.

-Swiiiiiiiiiiiiiish…!

“Awooooooooooo!”

Silver fang wolves, (Orange) rank beasts known for their intelligence and resilience, lie lifeless around him, their lavish silver fur- now almost ground with their minced meat- stained with blood.

-Snap!

-Ooooooooooooooooong!

There was a mage here, his robes billowing with the power of fire and wind swirling around him, was a formidable sight as he unleashed his magic upon an unsuspecting dan of these wolves.

-Oooooooooooooooong!

Until now, they had lived in harmony with nature, hunted when they were hungry and played with their families when they weren’t guarding their house against the enemies.

-Swiiiiiiiiiiish…!

They had lived here for years now. And there weren’t many Adventuerer human that ever bothered them since they lived deep within the forest and were confined to thier own territory.

However… their eternal peace was disrupted today.

-Snap!

With a flick of his wrist, flames erupt from his fingertips, engulfing the nearest creature howling at him in a blazing inferno.

The others of his family, caught off guard by the sudden attack, attempt to flee and regroup later, but the mage’s mastery over wind and fire magic was was so great that they didn’t even notice when he created a barrier of swirling flames, trapping them within the deadly dance of fire and winds.

-Shrrrrrr…

As the flames roar and the winds start singing lamento of thier deaths, they creatures of low intelligence understand that the mage’s control over the elements was absolute… and also that their little pack stood no chance against his onslaught.

“I’m sorry…”

-Ooooooooooong…!

With a final flourish, the mage summons a powerful gust of chilly winds saturated with tiny shreds of sharp ice, sweeping through the village with destructive force.

Small structure made by the little wolves crumble, trees are cut down from the raining ice blades, and the remaining villagers- wolf children and females that had not even seen the true light of this world- are scattered like leaves in the wind.

The ice shreds go right through their eyes, first blinding them, then by the time they realise their strong fur had at least saved their bodies, their brains had almost poured out of the heads.

“Being born a Beast wasn’t your mistake.”

-THUD.

At once, they fall to the ground, lifeless.

The home that they had cherished all their lives, the place where they grew up and met their Mates, the home where they raised their children, and the place where they wanted to see their children find their mates as well… was now devastated beyond recognition.

-Swiiiiiiiiiiish…

When the dust settled, an heart wrenching scene unfolded before the masked mage, his Blood red eyed hidden behind his Blood sainted white mask glaring at what he had left behind with a seemingly cold gaze…

“Alright.”

The mage, standing amidst the destruction, his chest a heaving with exertion and head a little dizzy with the large amount of Mana used, as he surveys the devastation he has wrought one last time.

“It’s not as bad as usual.”

He knew cleaning this mess would be a little easier than what he usually had to do, so he didn’t wait any longer.

-Oooooooooong.

Walking around the now destroyed area, he first picked up the corpses of the dead beasts, as well as any useful parts of their body that had not turned into a complete mess, and put them in the mass storage devices that he pulled out from his {Item box}.

He looked around the den of the wolves, and found a number of corpses belonging to energy beasts of similar or higher levels.

“Oh?”

He also found two (Red) rank Cores, special materials that are created inside the body of an energy beast when they die, that contained the entire life energy of the dead beasts.

Perhaps, today was a lucky day.

And he had not even checked them wolves that he had killed outside the den.

“Could it be because… of her?” He wondered as he walked out of the den and started cleaning the area with some (tier-3) water magic spells.

This was the first day he was hunting after coming to the capital of the empire and yet, instead of having thoughts about his prey and the Loot he got, he was thinking about a certain someone.

“Nolan…”

She stared at the hand that she had held with a blank expression, thinking back to how their meeting had gone yesterday.

“She’s strange.”

Usually, you don’t call strangers you meet in a back alley ‘handsome’, and you also don’t casually talk about kissing someone while using an artifact to hide your true appearance.

“And that keen interest in ongoing activities of the market…”

He clearly remembered the way she looked at the happenings of the market, the way she observed the products of each place they passed through and the way she was so interested in the pieces of various things.

“Could she be a merchant?” He wondered with an interested expression since it explained all of her behaviour.

But then again, there was a chance that she was just a daughter of some noble of the empire and was interested in the market because of her background, father, or family.

“Or perhaps she’s just a strange one.”

Back when he had lost everything he had, his family, his people, the factors making him a human… he had lost a part of himself that was interested in the casual things about this world.

But after meeting his master on a faithful day, he learned that having no interest in this world, for an adventurer at least, was as foolish as a mage having no interest in magic itself.

He had no home to stay, so he had decided to dedicate his life to the adventures, to this world, and see what this world, the same world that took away everything he had, had to offer to the only one that it left out.

“First day in the new city, first day of uniqueness.”

It wasn’t like him to be in thoughts like these.
