Chapter 1262 - 1262: A little flashback
Magic. Love. Money.
Three words that are completely separate from one another in pure meaning, and at the same time, words that are completely inseparable from one another.
“She came… she really came…”
“After all these years… looks like the demoness really is back.”
“Don’t get your hopes up. She’s still convicted of murder.”
Love is magic, money is love, magic makes good money, money can help one buy magical things.
Money is magical.
Love is magical.
Magic is love for most in this world. It’s an obsession of many as well. And money is the same for those Some or Many individuals.
They love Magic and they love Money, and this love they have for these intangible things is more powerful than the Love one would have for an individual…
“God’s second attorney might have bought her some time, but even still… she doesn’t stand a chance.”
“The case They presented was too solid.”
“Even with the Red eyed hunter by her side, I doubt anything would be any different this time.”
People don’t like love, they like that flittery flirty feeling that comes from being a little vulnerable before another being.
No one loves love.
Love is sacrificial and they would trade it for countless other things, love itself is ferocious and will make others act stupid, it’s not emotive.
It’s a deal made between two individuals, an exchange of personal space, some feelings, some skinship, and some conveniences.
Culture doesn’t love Love, it never has and it never might even till the end of time.
Though, it loves the idea of love, the idea of trade, the idea of magic that happens when one falls in love…
The butterflies in the stomach flying away, the stolen moons and stars divided between countless lovers, the fuzzy feeling and that momentary vulnerability…
That happiness, calmness, that magical feeling one might get after getting an unexpected lottery, that magical feeling… it’s a costly thing.
Not just anyone can have it.
Not everyone is fortunate enough to feel that kind of happiness, that kind of joy and belonging.
And yet, they want this precious emotion without paying anything for it.
It’s ridiculous.
“Hey… hey…”
“Why are you whispering like that?”
“Shhhh. Lower your voices and listen to what I just heard.”
“What? The child, right? The entire capital is talking about that already. They are saying absurd things like their little child saved them from that demon.”
“Right. And I’ve heard she’s going to have another baby… doesn’t that make things worse for her?”
“Are you pitying that demoness? Not only is she absolutely sickening, she even killed the hands that raised her and gave her everything she has.”
Just surviving while knowing something that you can’t let go of will undoubtedly parish one day, requires more strength than what the World itself is capable of providing.
“Not everything.”
“Right. Some things she has… that family, that body, that husband… she was just lucky to get those things.”
“Nah. She was born with them.”
Discrimination. Gender. Equality.
Three more separate words that, in a day and age like this, could not possibly separate from one another…
{ “Everyone! Show your respects to the judges of Meyat!” }
Divinities exist here.
In a world where magic was a thing of higher class, in a society where bloodline, background, and social standings mattered as much as one’s talent, skills, and abilities… religion, faith, and cultures existed as well.
“Tsk. Bitch.”
In a place where demons terrorised the lands and divine beasts of lores and myths roamed the earth- away from the eyes of the world.
This is a world of magic and magical creatures.
And along with the obvious mystical elements, this is also a world of corporate greed, success, fall, and misery.
“They met a demonic noble as well? Then, isn’t this weird? Six demon nobles just popping out of nowhere in nearby areas?”
“It was indeed weird. The rumours say the two of them along with their young boy and their carriage driver fought and defeated that demon noble.”
“It’s hard to believe it… but if it’s the Red eyed hunter we are talking about, then… it isn’t impossible to believe either.”
The hierarchal society that has ranks, positions higher and below one another.
Where culture preaches equality of talent and abilities, gives importance to those who deserve it and can contribute to the society, world, and the system itself.
People are greedy here, so those in higher, noble positions do what they can to elevate their status while those who possess talent do what they can to escape the oppression of this higher class.
Discrimination is present even though the society boasts of Equality. Gender is certainly an excuse when it comes to the upper-class, however even among the common population, the situation isn’t always so simple.

“The judges are here!”
“They look the same as they looked all those years ago… she, on the other hand, seems like a completely different person.”
“She became a mother. Change is bound to happen.”
“And since she is going to become a mother again, she should change further as well.”
“Right… that fucking lucky bastard.”
“Being ugly enough that he has to hide behind a mask certainly scored him a nice pair of cheeks.”
“Hey. Quite.”
The moment when one falls in love is considered magical, and this magical movement is always followed by a magical encounter.
Individuals meet, they look into one another’s eyes- into one another’s souls- and then the next thing they know, they aren’t individuals anymore.
Love. It mixes two separate elements and creates a compound that’s more philosophical than it is realistic or logical.
It changes people just as much as the loss of their beloved children changes them.
“How much do you think this story is true?”
“Everyone is talking about it. Some were even saying they spotted her crying on the way here.”
“Is that right?”
The world is filled with uncertainty, especially when one is talking about the market and economy— one of the most important factors on par with humans and politics, maintaining the stability of any nation in this world.
And as someone that contributed immensely to this economy, she was the master of a kind of power already unmatched to many others in this world.
“She still hasn’t learned her lesson.”
“Tsk. Today she will.”
She didn’t discriminate against anyone, be it about race, background, or any factor that did not matter for the work they were doing.
She was treated equally as her brother by her parents and even after being from an important family, she was not restricted from doing anything she desired.
{ “The hearing will commence in three minutes. Everyone, please take your position.” }
She was born in a good family with good condition, and that was her gift. Something not just anyone in this world was fortunate to be born with.
